Thank you !!
Another year has come and gone and after 30 Days Of The Dead I want to say thank you for the bounty !! Besides the usual quality of the tracks the running times were especially generous . Felt like a miracle everyday :) See you next year !
That was fun
This has helped to cheer up a cold and wet month here in Blighty. Shame we're not allowed to enter the competition but I guess we'd have a bit of an advantage, I've been sitting here at 8am refreshing my browser until the new track appears!
It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards……
Thirty days and not a single Pigpen tune. Disgraceful.
In the last five years, not a single Pigpen song. No memory of having starred atones for later disregard, or keeps the end from being hard……
No memory is ever alone; it's at the end of a trail of memories, a dozen trails that each have their own associations…….
Rock on, and remember,
Doc
So long as the memory of certain beloved friends lives in my heart, I shall say that life is good…..
Such a FUN 30 Days it’s been!
Wow, didn’t we just start this little 30 day journey yesterday?! Seems like this year flew by faster than others.
Will miss all this! The little-kid anticipation of seeing what new tune shows up every midnight, the challenge of the hunt, listening to the best music ever(!), the excitement of stumbling upon unexpected gems & shows I never noticed, and the fun of reading your comments & hanging with y’all over this little piece of time we had the good fortune to share.
Thanks to each of you for playing in this band of deadicated funsters.
Thanks, Dave, for being our pied-piper!
Thank you Grateful Dead…for everything!
Peace, love and health to you all!
envelopment
so that’s what it means, a cryptically sandwich with a side of peter.
thanks dave my confusion prince for an awesome blowout ending, more like a 5 stack.
thanks to all for an awesome month and already can’t wait for d-rae’s birthday so we can start again.
happy 2023 to all filled with peace joy and happiness.
wackaloonq
ps. not often i can end the 30 with a hint of my own…heehee
My Friends They Come Around
Thank you Dave Lemieux. Thank you Dead Dot Net. Thank you Charlie Miller. Thank you Jerry. Thank you Phil. Thank you Bobby. Thank you Billy, Mickey, Ron, Keith, Donna, Brent, Tom, Vince, Bruce... Never had such a good time in my life before.
Thanks y'all
Great time as per usual. Got a nice flanging kitchen sync for a bit there in the beginning. Big mighty meaty numbers from this period. Feel like I'm right on stage. Right from the get-go in the Crypt intro seconds, the band sounds like a practicing working band. Listening to each other. Lead gtr phrasing just right and loose at same time in that intro. Such a tiny little piece of song that intro (and later reprise). Phil bomb just happened now after the drum segment. Yeah! Now we're into it! No turning back...
Have a great Dec and '23 everyone!
thanks dave--
quite a november as well as this closer with a cryptic intertwined--- this was my favorite-- hope I am picked

Wow, Another November come and gone! Thank you Dave ,Rhino and the Dead for providing a 30 day Morning Soundtrack. As an older Bus rider (71... first show 73) I love to read the comments from the wide range of ages of this crazy tribe. I don't play the game but its fun listening to the rest of you. We are as a group the pickiest, hardest and easiest to please musical Family on earth. I love you all , see you on the flip side!
Ron McKernan
One of the founding five members has been completely ignored on "30 Days" for 4 years now. Is he now considered politically incorrect? No one else in the band could sing the blues, which were a formative staple in the band's early repertoire. It could thus be argued that the band may not have taken off with the synergistic force it had without him.
C'mon Dave, or whomever makes these choices, WHAT GIVES?
no Caution, no Alligator,
not even an Easy Wind! Agree with you Jon. Pigpen is the most under-represented member of the band year after year on these here 30 Days of Dead, and I still don't get it. His contributions to the band and to what they ultimately became are crucial. Needless to say, I'm not surprised. But we got 2 Berthas, 2 Strangers, 2 He's Gones, 2 Jeds, 2 Altheas, 2 Other Ones, 2 China-Riders...
Cheers to another (otherwise) GREAT November playing this fun game with you fellow Heads. It may sound like I'm complaining and I guess I am a little but I'm still extremely happy and humbly blessed to be given this amount of excellent music yet again. Thank you to all involved! Looking at you especially, Mr. Lemieux.
Happy birthday to everyone who celebrates this month. Congrats to all the winners...once again I'm not among you lol. We are all fortunate just to be here and enjoy this nerdy diversion. See you again next year (/:^')
Thanks for another great trip
30 great days and now another trip around the sun. See you all next November.
Smiling on a cloudy day
And we come to the end of another glorious 30 Days of Dead. I have been on board for all 13 years. Every year I say I'm not going to do it, and every year I get sucked in on November 1st, my birthday. I have amassed a very good record over the years and have nailed some of Dave's most challenging curveballs. I won the calendar twice, but it's not about winning. For me it's become a kind of therapy, an escape from the crazy, mixed up world. I delight in the challenge and celebrate a correct guess and lament those rare occasions when I miss. Thanks to all of you for being here and sharing in the obsession. Thanks to Dave and the whole Grateful Dead family for the music and the love. See you all next year on my birthday. And we'll see how quickly I jump back into the fray. Until then, be safe and well and think peace! And if you get confused, listen to the music play!
Thank you, Dave!
I look forward to this every year to help keep my GD nerd status alive. Much appreciated for all the efforts put into it and I also agree on the Pigpen thing. Maybe a nice Mr. Charlie or Easy Wind next year?
Is it Nov 1, 2023 yet??
Wow, that was quick! Thanks Dave and all the staff who do this for us. I believe I was 28/30 due to Mindbender and then jumping the gun on a wrong but oh-so-similar Might As Well->Samson.
And I was lucky to win one of the daily Calendars! (Did we ever find out how/when we will be contacted for shipping?)
Lastly, does anyone know if Ed Martin is continuing his annual Dec 31 Days of Dead project? That's a fun one to follow along with.
Happy new year to all the heads!
@get2terrapin re: 31 Days Of Dead
Yes, Ed will be doing another Unofficial 31 Days of Dead this year. I posted info here on 30 DoD couple of days ago, but I'll post it again in a separate comment, so check for new comments above.
Splitting one track into many
can anyone recommend a good app that lets me split tracks without getting those annoying glitches at the split? Today's track needs it bad. thanks in advance.
Second Longest 30 Days: The Stats
This year's "30 Days of Dead" we got 7 h: 36 min: 41 seconds of music...just 8 minutes shorter than last years longest "30 Days of Dead" coming in at 7 h: 44min: 08 seconds.
THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT SONGS!
For the record: The shortest "30 Days of Dead" was 2015 w/ only 4h:38m12s of music.
Day 30
Final day of hurricane season! (allegedly) We celebrate the wifes b-day, by taking the plywood off the windows. ;-))
Sadly, the last challenge for this year.
Thanks to all of you 'usual suspect's' for a real good time!
Best wishes to all for a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2023.
"keep the mother rollling, one more time"
Quite a way to close off the month
Fantastic finish with these, which are among my favorites. The month flew by and for the game probably my best year yet with what I'll call half a point for Confusion's Prince which had me digging but missing the venue.
I have my show for the day that I will follow with a New Potato Caboose sometime later this morning.
Thanks everyone!!!
Always a hoot!
No one's noticed, but the band's all packed and gone.
Was it ever here at all?
Next time around kids!
Bingo
30 for 30. Easiest year ever so I'm not patting myself on the back too hard. 'Course I didn't win anything. Down to seeds and stems again. See ya'll next year. I'll leave you with some sax and violins.
Wayne Shorter, David Murray, Johnny Hodges, Lester Young and Eric Dolphy.
Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stéphane Grappelli, Vassar Clements and Ray Nance.
Honorable mentions;
Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and Michael Brecker.
Didier Lockwood and Jerry Goodman
Muchos Gracias
Thanks again for all the free music!
I haven't won since 2010, when I won the weekly prize of the The Warner Bros. Studio Albums box set. But no worries; I am more than happy with what I've got over the years. One more chance with these two monsters.
See you all in '23!
Thank You For A Real Good Time!
Love needs a Marketing Plan!
As our country continues to be polarized, a catalyst is needed to bridge the divide. Deadheads have it right, we love each other and show the world that Kindness makes a difference.
Skyjellyfetti1969
Is that a classic SS El Camino on your icon?
Later one it appears. Almost my first car.
A '66 SS 396 Elco. Couldn't afford it.
Probably a good thing. I'd have wrapped it around a tree.
Cheers
And we bid you goodnight
Great year of tunes and comments! Some fun stats: Dave gave us the earliest share to date with the 2/6/66 Mindbender, and 1970 remains the most popular selection with 27 representations over the 13 years! Also be sure to check out Bob's interview on Sunday Morning. Take care all
Fare thee well...
Thank you, Dave and crew, and all the family...be safe until next time everyone...looking forward to the next run!
Searching for the sounds
Thank you all for another Grate November!
Mindbender was the only one that just slipped away from me - but I tried.
Be kind and keep on enjoying the ride. Fare you well!
Our Minds Remain Unbended
From the first day's Mindbender to today's, I thoroughly enjoyed my sophomore (sophomoric?) run at 30 Days. Nice hanging out with you all. We should do it again some time.
Now please, Dave, award me those cd's! Or at least a calendar!
It's Been Great!
Always sad to see it come to a close. Great tunes this year, and one of my best at choosing! Thanks Dave!! On to 31 Days.
31 Unofficial Days of Dead – December
Ed will be hosting another 31 Unofficial Days of Dead this December starting tomorrow, 12/1, with some changes to where he'll post it this year.
He’ll post on his Instagram account because his usual site, “Liner Notes,” is not available this year. So starting 12/1, check his Instagram at 31daysofdead
Also it’s not clear if he will not post on his other usual site, “Phantasy Tour.”
But maybe try checking Phantasy Tour dot com and go to the Phish>Forum page. Search for the thread title “Unofficial 31 Days of Dead.” If it’s not there, then it’s Instagram only.
Cheers!
Well that's it for this one.
You might say day 30 really rounded things out nicely for 2022.
So now I've got my chips cashed in and there's nothing left to do but nail a retread to my feet and beat it on down the line. Thanks to all you good folks who contribute to the happy banter here everyday. There's lots of other places I could be each November, but I'd rather be with you all. Fare thee well till November comes 'round again. And don't forget to SMILE, SMILE, SMILE!!! And listen to the Grateful Dead every day of course.
30 For 30
Pretty sure I got all 30 correct, my first time doing this. Second week was the hardest, often digging through reams of 80's shows trying to find a specific performance of a commonly-played song. A couple of others were very tricky b/c not on the archive. Was a lot of fun, thanks!
1st 30 days I wish
__The 30 Days It Ended
__All The Versions Blended
"..The Other.."always reminds me of getting
my counter culture library
confiscated durring the 70s and
takin' some zaps JUST like mcmurphy
right ken ?
Thanks 4 all the gifts Dave
No Hard feelings about 1104-1110 ?
Old San Juan I think it WAS circulating.
THANKS DAVE!
BRAVISSIMO ON YOU! It's been fun bouncing thru the years and watching all the amazing heads nail "show" and "date", day after day. . . And a huge thank-you to you, Dan, Jeffrey, Marye, Doc and the rest of your compadres the for another outstanding year of well-oiled, official releases. Happy Holidays to everybody – we're already off to a grate start! Onward.
My Birthday Week
Thank you Dave.
And if my guess is correct for this one then it was the same week I was born. I think I will mix up a Bombay and Tonic, kick back and and listen to the whole show.
Christine McVie, say Hi to Jerry for us
What a wonderful Artist she was.
The drum major's whistle on some of this month's tracks
always made me think of Tusk.
day 30: smoking crater
quite the haul this month, thankful for the freebies and the motivation to hunt every single day. for my first year trying every day, I'm quite happy with 26/30 and look forward to joining that 30 for 30 club next year. love that were ending with some heat from 1970🔥🔥🔥
tricky but i think i got it
great send off w/ over 30 mins! juicy jams!!!!! almost got tricked, but i think i found it by soldiering on
Giving of Thanks
Thank you Dave for all the great music and selections, and thank you to this community for providing a fun and engaging experience in a world that feels increasingly less fun. Always a great path of discovery with you all.
Regarding yesterday's Truckin' > PITB, loved this smoking duo and more great music from '78 which feels like it's been heavy this year. I still have not met a show with a "Werewolves of London" encore that I didn't love, and I suspect I'll be listening to a lot more from this era until we meet again.
Shout out to all the winners this year from Washington state where I live now, apparently it's full of Heads, smart and (some of us, not me yet) lucky!
Thanks again and take care out there!
Groundhog Day
Another year of getting 2-3 correct, not selected as the winner, but adding to my collection of great music. Even with Deadbase X, I suck. But I have fun while I suck. So that's a win...
Flounderfe
Your comments on 30 DoD sound like me after a round of golf. Except that I'm not sure I have that much fun, because my putts ain't ever straight in line...
Anyone else notice that our man LeMieux seemed to break out a number of tunes from shows originally featured in the 2012 version of DoD? As if he was working a 10 year anniversary deal.
Was this just lazy Canadianship or impressive efficiency at work? In the words of Bill Gates, "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it."
As always, thank you Dave and the GD crew!
Thanks to all.
I have been here since the 2010 and look so forward to the hunt. The treasures are everywhere. Would be nice to win once but hey. See you all next year
Pig Penalty?
I know we didn’t get any downloads, however this November stumbled across more than a handful of prime Pig Pen shows along the way. For a tasty Pig Sandwich, bite into the 5/1/70 show starting with Hard to Handle through the Lovelight. Then go back to beginning to mellow out with fine acoustic set.
Would someone please tell me when I win the the Grand Prize....thank you, and good night...my usual 33%.........puff-puff-puff
Hey all
30 days of dead always seems to fly by. Where does the time go?
Now I find myself waking in the morning with my notebook, coffee, and ready to start the search. But there are no more days in November.
Till next year!
Wow, what a November. I had a family emergency and the entire month spiraled away and I never made it here even once. Missed all the fun for the first year since 2010 when it started. I run a website called DeadRoots and I've been keeping the 30 Days' tunes there ever since the beginning. I went ahead and made this year's collection even if I didn't take part. Head on over and see all the tunes, dates and venues in one place and download the archive with a spreadsheet and the album art. Head to deadroots net and look for "30 Days" in the left-hand column. Have a happy December!
