That show was a blast. I had just graduated from high school and I chose Alpine with my friends over the annual fishing trip to Canada with the family. My friends and I drove home from Alpine to Columbus, "borrowed" my brother's brand new car, and lit out for Toronto!! Clean shaves with polo shirts in a new car we breezed thru customs. Tons of hash at the show. Tons. We brought bud and traded in kind all night. A ridiculous show, my 7th. The front end of Set II rips and includes a tasty jam with Bobby, Brent and the drummers into drums.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1982, and 1987.

Our first selection this week is from the lesser-known early show from 2/13/70 at the Fillmore East in New York City, featuring Good Lovin' > Drums > Good Lovin', Mama Tried > Black Peter, Hard To Handle, Saint Stephen> Not Fade Away. The late show’s Dark Star>TIFTOO>Lovelight is understandably the famous sequence from this show, but check out this Not Fade Away, a jam-filled early version.

Next is the start of the show from 2/19/82 in San Diego, featuring Bertha > Greatest Story Ever Told, Dire Wolf, Little Red Rooster, Brown Eyed Women.

Lastly this week is the high-energy end of the show from 6/30/87, at Canada’s Wonderland just north of Toronto, a wonderful show. From Kingswood Music Theatre, here’s Space > The Other One > China Doll> Dear Mr. Fantasy > Around And Around> Good Lovin', Box Of Rain.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
