Tommy Chong as Jerry!! Brilliant!! It also ties in to one of the Cheech and Chong films where he was mistaken for Jerry! Bill Murray as Bill K. also works, the right look for sure at least! Lip syncing would be a must, who could match the boys in real life..! Mind u, the producers probably want younger actors to play the boys in the 60s and then they can age them with computer generated effects! Better to have something extra out there. U can never predict how such a production will turn out, if it does at all. It still makes younger listeners curious "to see just who those guys really are" though! It would turn on more than turn off no matter what. From the point of view that even bad publicity is better than no publicity! Are you kind?

Personally I feel the actors should not be major Hollywood actors and they should, of course, do justice to dead. The movie should be made with heart and meaning if it is to be taken seriously and liked. This has a potential to be a very great film, or something negative. Obviously music would be a huge aspect, but I really would like to have heart, good actors (acting and resembling likeness), and music.

I just hope they do the boys and one girl justice. To me they are an american icon in music history. As far as casting that would be a most difficult task I think the members would have to be several people throughout the yearsI am sure Bob Weir will be there to make sure things don't get out of hand to make sure things don't get blown out of perportion stick to the truth with some comedy and drama and of course lots of good good music

There are some really funny cast suggestions but also some very mean spirited energy over at the Rolling Stone site about the movie under news for 7/06/07. I wrote the comment smile, smile, smile, Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.) Walt Whitman-Song of Myself

Like I said yesterday, these sort of films make me nervous. There's a chance of the Dead and us fans coming off as cartoon characters. Anyway, how about Benicio del Toro as Jerry? Yo Soy Boricua!

I think a all-star cast will kill this movie IMO. If it was up to me I would go with this.Don't forget this is in the early years. Jerry-Kevin Corrigan Phil-Jon Heder Pigpen- mickey-Billy Crudup Bobby-Emile Hirsch Billy- for timothy leary they need a big actor that is good at being eccentric. I.E. -William Defoe,Woody Harrelson meh, its late ill think of the some more later

Any more news on this latest endeavor? I read the book 4 times. Great story. I would certainly like to read more like this, and if a movie comes out all the better. I like the day to day type narration and flow of the book. Being a deadhead for a very long time I am familiar with a lot of the main stories that are told in phils book.

Steve Parish's IMDb page indicates that he's a writer for "Home before Midnight," and clicking on that link leads to a page on the site for a not-yet-produced miniseries, with no further information available. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2730780/?ref_=nv_sr_8 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5273516/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk2 Not sure if it's the same as before Home before Daylight, though.

Steve Parish is a true legend. Home before daylight was really captivating from page 1. Bluntly honest, funny and extremely detailed. Loved this book, and all the details within it. We can only hope this masterpiece gets turned into a movie at some point. Would be funny to see the part on Riker's island..

does the book reveal Steve Parish's actual birthdate? I've heard May 1950, and saw a Bob Minkin photo that leads me to believe it is May 19, if so, the 77 Fox shows in Atlanta (DP29) were a real bash.
