You're Invited To The 9th Annual Meet-Up At The Movies

The Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies is going global for the first time! On August 1st, join us, near and far, as we gather in theaters worldwide for our 9th annual special cinema event. This year we will be featuring the full concert from June 17, 1991 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

Sure to be a crowd pleaser, 6/17/91 is one of only two shows in the Grateful Dead's archive recorded to 48-track analog tape, providing spectacular and unprecedented audio quality. The show features fan favorites such as "Eyes Of The World," "Truckin’," "Uncle John’s Band," along with Grateful Dead rarities including "Saint Of Circumstance," "Might As Well," "New Speedway Boogie," and much more. Mixed by Jeffrey Norman in glorious surround sound at Bob Weir's TRI Studios, mastered by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering, with video from the multi-camera live edit, this will be the first time the Bruce Hornsby and Vince Welnick line-up has ever appeared on the big screen. And be sure to boogie on down early as we will be revealing an exclusive look at the Dead's soon-to-be announced 2019 boxed set, personally hosted by archivist David Lemieux.

    2021 Meet-Up At The Movies 2021 ?

It's a bummer we can't see The Grateful Dead live in person, but the Meet-Up At The Movies has been a blessing. Is there any chance we can make it happen for 2021? If not, 2021- 2022.

    global MUATM thanks!

Just gottta say, 'twas a total thrill to have opportunity to participate in the first global MUATM event. For folks in Australia this was as close as we ever got to having the good ole Grateful Dead play Downunder. As newbies we hadn't realised there would be zero local promotion apart from word of mouth from folks lucky enough to be in the loop of dead.net and out local Australian Deadheads FB group. We sure hope we have another opportunity next year, and will do everything we can to build awareness of the event via hand crafted flyers and posters posted in strategic spots. There are folks out there who missed out 'cos they hadn't known it was on, we know that! As it was, we had 25 attend in Adelaide, and know of 20 in Perth, 50 in Melbourne etc. MUATM provided rich opportunity to meet 'new' folk and build our community, and gee, we sure had fun in the theater, dance singing along and sharing the vibe of a magic late era Grateful Dead performance. With incredible sound and visuals 'twas just exactly perfect. Further!...

If they’ve gone to the trouble of getting the best sound mix from a 48 track recording it’d be nice to get a CD/DVD copy of this sometime. Great to be able to see this in the U.K. I’ll be at The Nottingham showing.

Thanks for showing this overseas, here in Australia it acted as a great meeting place for people who don't know any other heads, our facebook group grew its numbers by 15% in just a day after the movie as we talked to folks there and told them about our existence.
It would be better to have fewer theaters showing the shows in cities like Melbourne and Sydney as people arranged to meet at one place , the Astor.

Lack of publicity was an issue , the local cinema in Adelaide did zip to publicize the event , if it can be done again we can try and spread the word on our Australian Deadhead Facebook group and get more to attend by handing out fliers and tacking up posters on bulletin boards.
