Week of August 19-25, 2019
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music spanning three years, from 1978, 1979, and 1981.
Our first selection is from 5/6/78 in Burlington, VT, from the second show of the second leg of the Spring Tour of 1978, where we have the start of the show: Sugaree ; New Minglewood Blues ; Peggy-O ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Loser.
From a year later in Baltimore on 5/5/79, with brand new keyboard player Brent Mydland now in the band, we have the start of the show, featuring Jack Straw ; Sugaree ; El Paso ; Friend Of The Devil ; It's All Over Now. That last song cuts off due to the master cassette needing a flip.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 5/2/81 at the Philadelphia Spectrum, where we have a classic early-80s sequence of Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain [9:40] ; Estimated Prophet > Terrapin Station.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault. David Lemieux vault@dead.net twitter: @lemieuxdaviddead comment
