Echoing the call for Alpine '87 and other Summer '87 shows

I have been requesting the Alpine shows from late June '87 for years and remember emailing Dave about these shows several years ago...There are many of us out here who have enjoyed the audience tapes of this run for decades and would love to hear how the vault tapes sound if they exist. The Ventura and Berkeley shows earlier in June '87 are also great 3-show runs and the recordings I've heard of these are not too shabby.

I'd be thrilled to hear some of these recordings in the Taper's Section and gladly would plunk down $$ for a release covering this period.

    Summer 87

It does seem like summer 87 is very lacking in quality sounding tapes, and the few that are available are usually matrix with too much audience in the mix. It would be great if David could post a set from Alpine 87 from the vault and see what that sounds like. That run was tremendous and there is only audience tapes available. Thanks for considering our requests!!

    Summer 87

Most of the tapes from the summer of 87 leave a lot to be desired, Alpine & Kingswood are good examples. I went to Alpine and I have only ever heard audience tapes. I wish I had gone to the roll&toke shows that summer but had to work.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1984, 1987, and 1988. Our first selection this week is the end of the show on 6/14/84 at Red Rocks, where we have Space> Playing In The Band> Black Peter > Throwing Stones> Not Fade Away, US Blues.

Next is the middle of the first set from 6/30/87 at Canada’s Wonderland just north of Toronto. This is the vault’s board tape, unfortunately featuring a less-than-ideal mix. The music that night was terrific, but the tapes don’t sound great. New Minglewood Blues; Candyman; Far From Me ; Mama Tried> Big River.

Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 6/28/88 at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY, where we have Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain, Estimated Prophet>Crazy Fingers.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Maybe the most played show on Taper's Section? Re: 6/30/87 'less than ideal' mix - Is this what Alpine '87 sounds like or worse? Wouldn't mind hearing for myself :-) Either way, thanks dead.net for the selections this week!
