Week of March 23-29, 2020
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have a double dose of 1970s Dead, and a classic mid-80s sequence.
Our first selection this week is from the final show of the second leg (of three) of the Fall Tour of 1973, from 11/1/73 in Evanston, IL, where we have Morning Dew> Playing In The Band > Uncle John's Band> Playing In The Band. This is a precursor to the jam of Playing>UJB>Dew>UJB>Playing they’d unveil a week later at Winterland on 11/10/73.
Next is the second half of the first set from 11/4/77 in Hamilton, NY, at Colgate University, a show released a few years ago on CD as part of the Dave’s Picks series. From this mighty fine show, we have Cassidy; It Must Have Been The Roses; Sunrise; New Minglewood Blues; Dupree's Diamond Blues; Let It Grow.
Lastly this week is wildly inventive, and cool, sequence of Help On The Way> Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower ; Lost Sailor> Saint Of Circumstance; Wharf Rat > Gimme Some Lovin' from 11/2/84 at the Berkeley Community Theatre, including the first Gimme Some Lovin’.
Be sure to stop in next week for more music from the vault. And please wash your hands.

BCT Gimme Some Lovin
One of my favorite half sets ... after Saint of Circumstance most of us expected drums and space on deck ... after Wharf Rat I was certain and then all hell broke loose Gimme Some Lovin and I was ecstatic.
