    Happy Birthday Bill Walton

Was disappointed you didn't include the happy birthday to the tall red-headed deadhead from the Worcester show.

    Bill Walton

Saw Bill backstage on crutches at Red Rocks ('78 I think). Been watching a tv series called 30 For 30 part of which was a review of the Lakers - Celtics rivalry. Showed Bill as the excited newcomer to the team taking some fellow players to a Dead show. Camera followed them behind the scene in The Garden where McHale is asking Walton what the halftime score is. Bill responds, " Jerry one, Boston nothing". How many shows has Bill seen?

Week of March 30-April 5, 2020

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll check out Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1979, and 1985.

Our first selection this week is from 11/6/71 at the Harding Theatre in San Francisco. After the closing of the Fillmore West in the Summer of 1971, the Dead didn’t have a small/mid-sized home in the Bay Area, so there were shows here and at Berkeley Community Theatre until the Dead and Bill Graham settled on Winterland for the bulk of the Dead’s 1970s Bay Area shows. From this show, we have That's It For The Other One>Comes A Time.

Next is the first set form 11/9/79 in Buffalo, NY, where we have Alabama Getaway> The Promised Land; They Love Each Other ; Cassidy ; Loser; Lazy Lightning> Supplication; Althea ; Easy To Love You; Jack Straw.

Lastly this week we have the start of the second set from 11/5/85 at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, MA, where we have Shakedown Street ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Ship Of Fools > Supplication > Playing In The Band Reprise > Don't Need Love.

Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
