That would be me! The car was an orange 1977 Datsun B-210. I was the driver, my friends Greg and Kevin were the pushers. The car started once, in PA, then push start all the way to Saratoga, to Rochester, and up to Oxford (and then back to PA).

I had tickets to this, and a killer cold
I was studying for the bar this summer, in Buffalo. I was really looking forward to this concert, if only to blow off steam. But I ended up with a nasty cold and never made it since being sick, alone and in the rain was not my idea of fun. Still have the uncut ticket. Wish that I could go back in time and go if only for the opportunity to hear Wharf Rat.

Silver Stadium organist Fred Costello was always sneaking bits of Dead tunes into the game - just as the inning would start, he'd give us a taste of Shakedown, or Touch, or Eyes...it was inevitable that the boys would play there one day (especially since Red Wings GM Dan Mason was a Head!)

If I remember correctly, Garcia was wearing a blazer at this show. It was light drizzle rain (hence, the opening tunes). Yes, Green Onions opened that second set. I got a ticket to this show by giving a dude a hug. he looked really loaded and kept asking folks for a hug an no one would give him one. This I noticed just walking near the guy. I went out of my way to get to him and gave him a big-ass bear hug and rubbed his twisted head. As I walked away he called me back and said something to the effect of: "Hey, man, I've been waiting for the person who gives the best hug to give this to, and you're that person." He handed me a ticket. I was ticket-less for the show at that point, so it worked out nicely for the both of us!

Yep, u might rmember it rained AFTER the boys started playing. A not unusual phenomena when they played weather related tunes! This was my brother's first show. Well, his first was the one before at Saratoga, but he didn't get in for that! :) Are you kind?

Once I got a burner I was lucky enough to find this show on archive.org. Cold Rain & Snow and Believe It Or Not still stand out in my mind. Plus the Green Onions tag at the start of Set Two. The other thing that I remember is after the show talking to a guy parked next to us from Idaho. He said he was heading back home to see his Dad. Never did catch his name.

First show - not for me, but for my 9-month old son. My wife and I were interviwed by a reporter named Brian ? from the Syracuse newspaper. The next day we bought the newspaper and were delighted to find that Garth, our 9-month old, was the lead for Brian's article.

I was about second row Jerry side and wept during Beleive it or not. What a cold day in Rochester. The weather cleared into the show. One of my most memorable shows ever for me. Jerry's ballads were on fire.

I was sitting in the 3rd base dugout as the second set opened and heard the Green Onion. It took me a second to realize it was the dead playing the song because at first I thought it still was the intermission music. Then some A-hole through an M-80 down into the other end of the dugout that scared the shit out of everybody inside, so I said fuck this and walked up to the front for the rest of the show. I remember Jerry's blazer too. It looked like wool. I think that may have been the only time I ever saw him wear a jacket.

Hey All! What a high time! The dead were really rippin' it during this summer run and this is one of the highlights of the tour for sure! Phil was just droppin' the bombs all over the place and the energy was really high the whole show. The highlight for me was Truckin'. Being so close to Buffalo and having a lot of Western NY heads there, the lyrics were very appropriate. Also, the jam they do during Truckin' that leads to that magnificent peak is one of the best I've heard. To boot, at the show someone had somehow magically timed shooting off a fireworks burst that they somehow, in the psychedelic space of the day, were able to launch so it exploded EXACTLY as the Dead hit that musical peak in Truckin'! It was amazing and the whole crowd roared. The person who lit that was getting cheered up and a hero for those few moments, UNTIL, the firework burst landed - in the crowd! Then the crowd kind of ooooo'd and boooo'd and then a collective laugh at the whole thing was kind of in the air as the music shifted gears into a nice jam that led into He's Gone! Have to mention the totally inspiring and moving Believe It Or Not. This is my favorite Jerry song and I wish he played it more. I feel SO LUCKY that I was able to catch it a couple of times out of the few times he sang it. (Also saw the one in Copps Colliseum in CANADA.) The scene was really sweet too. The whole area was just packed with people every where. I remember that people were parked in all of these side street neighborhoods and on people's lawns that they charged $10 or $20 for. My friend "The Candle Man" was also there who I knew from going to school in Fredonia (any Fredonia heads out there?) All his candles were melting though. Not a good idea for a outdoor summer show! Good memories! Brother "A" (^_^)

Took my friend Randy to this show. He died in a car wreck a few weeks after. It was great that he had the opportunity to see the Dead. He loved the show so much that as we were leaving someone was selling Jerry Drawings. He just had to have one. He bought it and took it to a store to have it framed and passed away before he could pick it up, so now it is mine and I think of him and Jerry at the same time when I look at it, always brings a smile to my face. Thanks for the memories Randy and I'll see you again someday.

My first was the year before same place and now I was a veteran. 18 years old and my grandpa just had passed away earlier that year. My sister lived in walking distance of the stadium and we walked to the show! Had some interesting fungi and we were off. Being so young and new to it all it was a life changing experience. All I remember was hearing box of rain opening in the hallways and thinking "this is going to be a monster" We were in the infield for the first set and cowboy songs and I met the coolest guy ever and we hung out for the rest of the set, then when the 2nd opened with Green Onions (not on the setlist above?) I heard someone say GREEN ONIONS, except I couldn;t tell if someone said it or thought it. and I saw a green glowing ball someone had right at that moment too. Extremely weird, as Jerry had said before! China cat started and my friend "had to go" I didnt understand but years later I did. Now with my sister and her husband to be (I think my niece was concieved right after the show) we were at the top of the stadium. By I know you rider she had to leave "because she saw 10,000 feet" I kind of understoond, but had no idea how to walk home from there. Her boyfriend gave me garbled directions to "head for that Mosque over on the horizon (the one with shooting starts flying out of it and patterns changing all over the towers) and turnleft then rightdowntheblockand turnlefright huwabudubba." I nodded and made my way to the infield. I think I bumped into some guys recording rig (sorry) and he shoved me (not cool but understandable) but I found my way closer to the stage. I saw Two Jerry Garcias during trucking. When they played hes gone and wharf rat I knew I was controlling the band and they were singing songs to me about my Grandfather who had just passed away. I was emotional beyond belief. This was not a concert it as a life altering moment for me. Seeing as how I had the reins, I decided to go with the songs I liked, so they played throwing stones and lovelight. It was amazing. At the end of course they played Brokedown Palace, the song I would lull myself to sleep when depressed about gramps and still "turned on" in the months before... On the way out I was crying. I looked at a person next to me and they had Marlboro reds. I asked for one and it was given. Of course. Box of rain opener and Brokedown closer. This show meant more to me than anything in my life at that point and few things since have eclipsed it for pure emotional energy. Afterwords I wandered around enjoying the scene, hopelessly going from church to church looking for the electric Mosque I had seen on the horizon. Eventually, a hot dog vendor who barely spoke english gave me the most incredibly garbled directions that I understood perfectly and I was home in five minutes. I came in and my sister and her soon-to-be husband were in bed already, so I laid down on the sofa and had a cigarette and thought "Wow, what a fucking concert!" Soon I wasn't surprised to find I was dreaming too.

About all I can remember from this one is Jerry singing He's Gone, and me thinking ... Yes I am! ... he's singing to me. I remember paying about $10 to park on a neighborhood lawn. I also recall these guys parked by us who's engine starter was broken, and apparently it had been broken for some time. So one guy would get in, and the others would push it to jump start it. That's how they were getting from show to show, it was great!

This was my first show. WOW! We didn't even know how to get to Silver Stadium but we figured we would just follow any vehicle with a sticker. It worked! I knew maybe 8 or 10 Dead tunes goin in. This show absolutely hooked me for years to come. I remember the music being the greatest soundtrack as the rain stopped and gave way to a spectacular sunset. From the firey clouds a snake's gaping mouth appeared, swooped down and engulfed me. I rode through it's belly for quite a few songs enveloped in the rapture of the music, the mood and the people. The ride back to Canada had me humming every note. Strangers stopping strangers - just to shake their hands...

Drove up from Cincy. Before the show, I got a security guard standing on a light stanchion to take some crowd pictures for me. Too bad the knuckleheads at the photo lab ruined the film. Laughed all the way through Cold Rain and Snow. It was the perfect tune for the day. I spent all my money buying t shirts and almost couldn't come up with cash for toll roads the next day when I went home.

Cold Rain was outstanding. I remember eating macaroni salad in this really nice hippie couple's yard a block or two from the stadium--I thought they were on tour at first, but I realized they were local and just very generous people.

Happy "Silver" Anniversary to this special show. 25 years ago today my Long Island family trucked from SPAC to Roch-cha-cha. I was amazed they played so many songs before Drums....and I kept looking up on the roof on the third base side for my friend Mike. Thank you, Mother Nature !!!
