Week of October 25-31, 2021
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, and a double dose of the late 1980s, from 1987 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is from 2/8/70, the final night of a four night run at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, where we have Intro, Smokestack Lightnin', Morning Dew, Dire Wolf, Me And My Uncle, Sittin' On Top Of The World, China Cat Sunflower. The final track cuts off before it hits Rider due to the master reel running out.
Next is the end of the show from 6/30/87 at Kingswood Music Theatre near Toronto, my second Grateful Dead show, with not-great-sound, but a terrific performance featuring Spanish Jam> The Other One> China Doll> Dear Mr. Fantasy> Around And Around> Good Lovin', Box Of Rain.
Lastly this week is the entire second set from the Grateful Dead’s final performance at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, CA, on 2/7/89, Mardi Gras, where we have Iko Iko, Victim Or The Crime, We Can Run, Uncle John's Band >Drums >Space>The Wheel>Throwing Stones >Foolish Heart>Good Lovin'. I always like little curveballs in the setlist’s structure like this closing trio sequence.
Be sure to join us next week for more music from the vault.

Thank you for including this selection. Although the flow was choppy you can hear that the audience was into it.
The songs seemed particularly poignant, personally.
Thank you for a real good time.
