Good news! The answer does not appear in my Windows Media Player this morning, so I get to listen to a bunch of Half Steps!

...that they never played Mississippi Half-Step, Tennessee Jed, and Alabama Getaway in the same show.

And that's not even including California Earthquake, The Maine Ten, or New Mexicali Blues.

There are so many versions out there and i have already listened to about 50. Many are too long to fit so that's good to have automatic exclusions.

Found today’s selection pretty quick, knew right away the year & the end of the song provided an easy clue.

Got it first try, second day in a row, by luck. Almost disappointing in a way.

That is me today, thought i had it but when i synced to double check it was perfect till the chorus then fell apart. Have another 25 or so to shuffle thru. I love this song but i am just hearing it without paying attention so i might have gone right by the one.
Lets try coffee and see if it helps the focus.

Am 2 days from completing another trip around the sun, so i am beat...lol

I’m on my way! To me it seems easy to narrow down to a couple years. Also, I think this song was perfectly executed. With the smooth melodic piano and Bobby’s tone and nuances are on point. What tuned me in to my pick was the calm outro when Jerry was crossing the lazy river with such warm and soulful passion it was very smooth and unique compared to other versions.

This one was medium tough. No Windows gimme this time. I had to listen to over a year's worth of half-steps but I was able to find the one with the right marks before too too long.

Love Donna's vocals on these Half Steps. She added a layer of sweetness to many songs. It's funny she says "Thank you" at the end. I wonder if Jerry used that line from The Big Lebowski... "Shut the %$#@ up, Donna! You're out of your element!!" Haha!!

Still waiting for explanation of why yesterdays song was an officially released track when we are told they are not. The reason this bugs me is I skip officially released versions because we're told they're not gonna be one of those.

seems to embody so much of what Jerry Garcia represents for me musically. I enjoy it everytime I hear it. Especially when he says "Pappy sat down and cried," or sometimes "Saddy dat down and cried." I can't imagine how challenging it must have been to keep straight all those lyrics, all those notes, chord changes and intro/outros, all the while trying to please everybody all at the same time and doing it all with one finger short of a full deck and a bloodstream full of god knows what. Just want to say for all that andmore............... THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. 😊

I have found that no matter how long I search, I never find: 1) any meaning in the "hints" 2) any idea of what specific show these songs are from. Thus, I just guess. I still enjoy it and all...but it would be REALLY neat if the hints actually meant something.

I have made it a point of not to brag about my personal 'correct guess' percentage because we inevitably get thrown a curve ball like a Casey Jones soundcheck from 1995, or something with a dubious date or venue.

I actually started from the release date of Wake of the Flood so I ended up searching a few extra months but if you go to Wiki and look up recorded date and search backwards from there it's not too far. For those who needed for me to spell it out.
