Days Of Dead
- truckinup2buffalo8 months 2 weeks agoC.C. RIDER ON A MOPED
Standing outside before the show I kept watching this guy circling around on a moped in the SNOW. License plate from Cali! Caught in the elevator after someone kept pulling the fire alarm all night. The seventh floor at the Journeys End is where a piece of chewing gum kicked my ass. Capt'n Trips grabbed me oh so strong.

The hint about 250 Peggy-O's wigged me out, until I found my notes from the 2011 Peggy-O (which apparently was a long search) and gave me a jump on the day. I recognized the time period immediately and suspected I knew what the next song was, which narrowed it down to four. Back on the road tomorrow for Thanksgiving with only an old iPad, my phone, and Deadbase VI for reference. Bring it on!

... for setlists has "El Paso" in "Peggy-O's" place on this show, so I went back and forth, right past it, several times. Even went as far back as '85 before giving up. I need more/better sources.

Today’s 30 Days took my mind off the tragic event in Waukesha WI at least for a bit.
That news has hit me very hard. It happened 1 block from my work office.
Innocent people in a parade run over by a crazy person.
Please pray for all the families affected by this act of terror.
Thanks to all the first responders who have to deal with that kind of tragedy & horror.
I’m sorry to post a downer but I’m torn up by that senseless crap.
We can’t let this happen people. Our leaders need to bring us together, not divide us.
So sorry....
Opeelipsky that you had to experience that close-up. It's awful from a distance let alone from a block away. It sure is nice to have a safe space such as this to come together where we're surrounded by beautiful music and mutual understanding and respect. Hang in there and if you get confused or discouraged, just listen to the music play!
Shocked I say...shocked
Shocked this show has not gotten the commercially released treatment.
A next song preview is always appreciated...
Thanks, Dave, for a sneak peek at the next tune. Makes the hunt a bit easier!
A Lady Like A Dove
I had to look around a bit to find this one. Once again I found myself relying on keyboard clues.
It's a great version of Peggy-O -- one of my fav Dead tunes. Its one of my favs because it is heartfelt by Jerry and has deep personal meaning for me. I won't bore everyone with the whole real life story but suffice it to say there was a beautiful Deadhead woman involved and I'm not with her now.
As the futility began to dawn on me, I sent her a letter once with return address to William-0 and said something about burning her cities...she was a longtime Deadhead and she knew exactly what that meant. It took 6 or 7 years for this sad, sad story to come to a close but the happy ending is instead of being buried in the Loosiana country-o, I ended up with a better one -- so all's well that ends well!
Dave knows
no matter how much my stats improve Dave must know that i already got a 2022 calendar & the st. louis box set.
i understand in 2013-2014 when my average was 4-30 but, now that i am above the 50% mark (a lot of you would be appalled to be at 50% i know) maybe an extra calendar might be ok. how about if i gift it to Hornsby...lol
thanks all, having another great time.
ps. i am east coast so if i wake up in night i always look if its past 3am so i can check; obsession
Your local forecast
We're ready to spring from night into the sun here in Fennario with lows in the 20s. It should make for a pretty warm day, providing brightness for your inspirational movements. Stay weird out there, eh?
Aspiring gnostic
Thanks for the heads up about the sneak peek. Took me 3 listens to identify it as it's just a snippet. Name that song in 3 notes.
Oh, and it's good to see Mama still has that squeeze box.
Taking the Day Off.............
Just to increase Hornsby's odds for getting a calendar!
What would your mama think...
If she heard this beautiful version...Thank you so much Dave for the perfect selection...what a great show!
First Try!
Whoa. After looking at the shows in which Peggy-O appears, I only had to listen to one recording to confirm my gut feeling. What a day!
The ending...
The ending clued me in today. The final notes and then the helpful extra bits a bit later that may allow you to figure out the next song. That helps to narrow things down
This Version is Pretty-O!!
My gut feeling on this one was also on the money. I listened to a dozen versions & it is amazing to hear how differently it was played even though the players were the same. But this particular version of Peggy-O is a little more mellow & sounds prettier. This one's going on my 30 Days of Dead 2021 CD compilation.
Beauty-O!
I had to listen to this one over and over as it really made my morning. Standing on guard for thee you Bonnie Lass-o-Fyvie-O!
Dratt and Dagnabbitt!
I am sure of my keyboard clues, and even cross referenced to make sure that I had the complete list of possible shows to choose from, and I swear I listened to them all and couldn't find it. small enough pool so I will try again.

Yeah, same here…narrowed down the options quickly enough but it took a second listen to find the right one. Also worth mentioning that an exchange in the comments earlier today let me know I was on the right track and shouldn’t give up!
That chord following
With that little tail at the end I was able to dial it in first try. Those little tidbits help!
2nd time through was the charm
Some of the intro was tacked on to the previous track in the archive version I used, so that took a while to find. What fun! This whole show is turning out to be quite enjoyable!
Strolling through the comments
Always nice to have read through everyone's comments We have a lot of shared experience and joy with the band and all that surrounded this ongoing experience. I exhale now after having tracked down this Peggy-O. What a beauty. I used the opening for my cues and eventually got there. Now time to enjoy the show.
opeelipsky
1 block? yikes.
I used to live in Beloit when I was a young 'un.
Be kind, everyone.
missed it
Missed it on the first time through this morning. I guess I was rushing before going to work. Spent some time this evening with a couple beers and discovered I have all but 2 '91 Peggy-o boards in the personal archive. Also forced me to finally recode those old SHNs to FLAC so its all good. Another consistently well played song making the search even better.
Envious to those who got the clue at the end. It eluded me at 5am...
He Died For A Maid
I listened to a bunch of Peggy-O's tonight and I have a few to recommend:
3-28-85
9-10-85
12-31-83
