Week of April 29-May 5, 2024
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll roll into May with Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1982, and 1989.
Our first stop is at Terminal Island Correction Facility on 8/4/71, where the Dead were visiting their dear friend Bear, playing some music while they were there: Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Turn On Your Lovelight.
Next is the first set from 8/6/82 in St. Paul, MN, where we have Bertha > New Minglewood Blues ; Candyman > Little Red Rooster ; Bird Song > El Paso ; Tennessee Jed ; It's All Over Now ; Lazy Lightnin' > Supplication ; Might As Well.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set on 8/6/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, CA, where we have Scarlet Begonias> Fire On The Mountain ; Samson And Delilah, Ship Of Fools; Man Smart (Woman Smarter).
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

8/6~1982
This St. Paul, MN show is on my short list of great later year {autumn} tour dates from the year 1982. Starting with this one in early August through late September. Actually I could take that groove to the early October Frost shows technically. Many from which would make a great Dave pick, in the spirit of how he described the 1982 MsG NYc shows of the 2022 "Garden" Big Box. Well anyways thanks for the tape sample, though I may not get to hear it unfortunately because since Saturday's mail I've been jamming out to Dave's #50 & the Bonus Disc too! Oh well, "Might As Well" like a Jerry song.
Brent says "You ain't shit!" to the Red Rooster
I never heard Brent interject a verse into this song, I love it!
Glad I heard this before taper's week's end.
