Prior to the war, I don't think the Iranians ever realized the power they had to disrupt the world economy and send waves of panic rippling across US politics. They probably would never have taken the extreme steps of shutting down the strait and attacking their neighbors refineries if Trump had not threatened to obliterate their civilization. And that's why a lot of people are saying Iran won the war: the regime has survived and is probably more entrenched than ever, and their ability to "project power" is now feared around the world.
One big win for Iran is that they are going to be able to charge a toll--millions and millions of dollars--for allowing ships to pass through the strait. Trump seems to think that would be fine so long as the US gets half the action, but it's hard to see why the Iranians would make that concession, now that they've demonstrated how easily they can hold the world economy hostage.
So what is there to say? Trump has handed the Iranians a huge win, and we're all going to pay the price, not only at the pump but whenever we buy more or less everything that's either made of petroleum or gets transported by oil and gas. He's a clown, easily manipulated and out maneuvered by Putin, Netanyahu, China, Iran, and pretty much anyone else who has enough patience to flatter him for a few minutes. And he's got almost two years left to create even more chaos.
