43 years ago I was down at the Ventura County Fairgrounds for the 2nd of two great shows . Lets get that Ventura But Set released. Cool scene, fun times.

Can I start the rumour that Rhino/Warners failed to include any shows containing ‘Standing on the moon’ in the boxset because they are having to edit them all to say ‘Gulf of America’ and that is a slow process.

As SIMONROB said, off topic, but if I look at my tracking number for DaP #55 today I get an ‘Oops, something went wrong’ message from DHL rather than them saying they have been informed electronically. Isn’t life fun.

Edit: When we get some new music to order will we all have to do it as guests. Is anyone currently able to access their store account? The latest site update doesn’t seem to allow it.

Us natives around here are getting restless. Some are thinking this is the end of "Comments" as we have come to know it. Some are hoping it's just a temporary oversight while website upgrades are implemented. Some think it's an indication of a streamlining of the money grab. In spite of it all there's still a lot of good will around here that probably shouldn't be wasted.

I think that’s gone away. And as far as being able to log in to the store to see past orders, I think that’s gone too. Not sure if it was here or in the Hoffman forums where someone mentioned they asked amins. about that and they got a reply that logging in to the store would not be coming back.
I’ll miss the new forum that would be posted for a new release. It seemed to reinvigorate discussions. I also liked the, “Shipping noticed received!” posts, along with the, “#2685 in the house!” ones.
Oh well…

Edit: I wonder if the folks buying the ala cart of Dave’s (or anything else for that matter), will get a shipping notification.

That's something I will miss if the comments section goes - useful information about releases and shows that I could easily miss if it wasn't posted on here.

I also got shipping notices for both Daves 55 and Greyfolded from Imprec this morning. That latter one is supposed to arrive over the next day or so

Maybe they didn't add a comment section on the new release DaP 55 because the box hasn't been fully digested and they don't want to shift away from the box just yet?

We might complain a bit but in the end, there's good Vegas odds that we help them sell CDs. How many times have they steered readers of the quarterly bulletin to the various comment threads here.

Now, back to groveling and complaining... get off my grass, get a job hippies.

10 days ago someone asked about an audio glitch at 2 min, 7 sec.
I just listened to it and to me it is the sound of crinkled tape and/or a splice.

I'm thinking this has to be a glitch that's somehow related to the whole website update that Marye mentioned, but right now #55 is showing as "sold out" over in the store. Either that or there is a lot more demand for the Zenith show than I would've guessed.

Watched a little bit of the In Our Eyes doc. Made me really really nostalgic for ye olden dayes. Recently someone mentioned having to leave a show early at a girlfriend's behest, and it brought back some memories.

There was a show in the early '80s, some out of the way outdoor venue like the Nevada County Fairgrounds or some such. I remember I actually won tickets by calling in to a radio station giveaway and of course I was stoked to go. My girlfriend at the time, who was super hot and totally crazy (a deadly combo every young man should experience at least once) did not like the Dead much. She agreed to come but complained the whole time, which was seriously harshing my mellow. Eventually, during drums/space, she claimed she couldn't take it anymore and I grudgingly agreed to leave, missing the last few songs.

It wasn't that much of a big deal, because in those days the Dead played around NorCal a couple dozen times a year so I knew I'd be seeing them again soon. But what I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time and hear even those last couple songs I missed out on.

Sigh. At least we have the tapes.

I have all my disks. I can see how that got screwed up. The white font on the yellow disk is difficult to read. Must be someone out there with an extra 26. Send a DM to MaryE; she’ll fix it.

40 years ago I was down at the Ventura County Fairgrounds for the start of a knockout weekend with the Good old Grateful Dead. Ventura was party city, what a swinging time. Lets get that Ventura Box Set out.

Details of the Blues For Allah package, picked up on Imwan and Amazon this morning:

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead's ambitious 1975 album Blues For Allah, we have produced what we feel is the most eclectic 50th anniversary reissue since this series began in 2017. The 3-disc special release features the original album on Disc 1, remastered by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering, with tape restoration and speed correction by Plangent Processes. On Disc 2, we have nearly 45 minutes of nearly-live material from August 12, 1975 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, the soundcheck the day before the Dead's famous show at the venue on August 13, 1975, all mixed from the 16-track analogue masters. Additionally, we have included the full Blues For Allah suite from the March 23, 1975 SNACK Benefit at Kezar Stadium, where the Dead played their first of four 1975 shows by debuting one of their most wild pieces of music they'd ever composed. Disc 3 features 75 minutes of live material recorded in June 1976 at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA, on the Dead's first tour after the release of Blues For Allah, and features all five of the Blues For Allah songs the Dead were performing live at the time: "The Music Never Stopped," "Help On The Way>Slipknot!>Franklin's Tower," and "Crazy Fingers," along with a half hour of additional material from the shows. This 50th anniversary reissue is packed with three hours of studio, soundcheck, and live material. It's a reissue unlike any other, just as Blues For Allah is an album unlike any other.
