    12/8/73 pix

The 1974 Duke yearbook has some great photos--mostly Garcia. Barbara Boyle & Jerry before the show is classic. As I recall, Phil actually sat down on stage and leaned back against his rack of McIntoshes--but that's "as I recall." I'd love to hear it confirmed.

    Show date incorrect
The date of this show is listed as Dec.8th but it was Dec 9th 1973. My first show and the anniversary of my dad's death. I found the money to buy tickets the morning they went on sale at Record Bar. I sat in the third row on the side Garcia stood which would have been to my right.Saw many more but this was among the best. They had the Wall of Sound

    Great show
I was young but lucky, this was the show I met Jerry. He had Wolfe made in May and was still jacked about it in December. First guitar he had custom made, paid big bucks 1,500.00 and as I was a carpenter building the stage he was cool enough to take time and tell me about the rosewood on it. Later that night while setting up the Two Towers Owsley directed the men setting up the sound and the show was fabulous. Fun times,Great Memories, Music saturating us, spirits raised, minds expanded, trips galore, onward. What a wonderful building block for me, how does one explain how this positively influenced my life. We are the byproduct of our experiences. Like I said "lucky"The wall of sound did not debut until March 23,1974, there were different versions of big sound systems while developing and the sound engineers plus the guys building the speaker towers coined the "Two Towers" moniker, for the setup on Saturday December 8th 1973.
