    Not a particular show, but a Dave's Picks prediction. 2020 saw '77, '74, '84, and two '87s. 2021 has '78 and '73 so far. I predict Dave's Picks #39 will be a '60s show and Dave's Picks #40 will be a '90s show. BTW, thanks for 3 '80s shows last year....I really mean it!

There are a lot of shows that I'd like to see released, but, for the reasons you mention, this is one I think would be a top-10 in the Dave's series. The Comes A Time has only a few rivals, all from around the show's date, including 12/05. And the 2nd set odyssey, capped by a stomping Saturday Night (I particularly love the pre-encore Dead Air - it's gotta be part of the release) would be something I think Deadheads would really appreciate. One day...

12/10/71 Fox Theatre, St. Louis. Extremely solid and well played like everything else from this period. Comes A Time may just be the most absolutely perfect early version, but the jam with Truckin' > The Other One > Drums > Sitting On Top of The World is some of the finest Grateful Dead music one will ever hear.

11/11/70 46th Street Rock Palace in Brooklyn. Wednesday night. First of four in a row. Two or three songs into the second set out came Jorma, Jack and Papa John. They played most if not all of the set with the Dead. There are two copies on Archive. The quality of both is terrible.
i've been looking for a clean copy for years.

How bout 02-15-1973 , I noticed a Master Reel source popped up on Archive.org , so why not let us get a nice remaster of this classic show

I know the Betty Boards have always been popular but they are so widely circulated ... so let's have some shows that are RARE - keep it real !!!

Considering that Dave's Picks 36 is made up of two consecutive shows, the same approach would be ideal for the 6/30/85 and 7/1/85 Merriweather shows. Both nights were excellent, and Heads have debated for years which night was better. A nice 4 CD DP release could cover it all.

A single show I would love to see and another fave from 1985 is the 3/28/85 Nassau Coliseum show, although you'd need some extra filler to get it to 3 CDs. But that show holds up. Scarlet-Fire is my jam, and that one is insane, with Bobby getting incredible sounds and Jerry melting concrete. I just hope that show has not been blackballed for archival release because of Mickey's really rude behavior -- on stage -- to guest Matt Kelly on the following night, when he kept chucking his drumsticks at the back of Kelly's head, probably because Kelly had sued Billy for beating the snot out of him after Billy confronted Kelly over money he was owed for a Kingfish tour (I remember those chants of "Let Bill Sing!" on that club tour).

Perhaps it's something in the air, but I feel like this show's time has come. Jerry had a tone on his guitar on this night (just the right amount of reverb) that, like the Miles Davis classic, "Kind of Blue," I've tried to search in vain for its twin, only to never to find it again. The acid-dripping beauty of this night just stands out in my mind for some reason (like the Dark Star from 2/13/70, or the just officially released--thanks again, Dave!--Dark Star>Wharf Rat>Dark Star from 2/18/71). It would blow my mind if this show were to see the light of day. And after the year we've all had to endure, couldn't we use just a little bit of light?

Any other 'Heads out there agree?

There have been so many great guests appear with the boys /girl :>) I could write a book...so from the Beach Boys to Edie Brickell there should be a CD set with guests. Hows that sound? Eric

...shall we go, you and I while we can... It always seemed to me that overall, and with exceptions, when they played with guests, niether made their best music. I'm thinking about Dylan specifically.

consider Bruce and Branford. Is it the Hampton show that has that amazing Bird Song? In general, I agree with you though, if only because (Cipollina being a prime example) they were pretty much reduced to playing standards that were in their common vocabulary. Mileage varies considerably though.

Not sure if any of those made DP's. The Palladium Shows in NYC, Cornell, and Buffalo would be a great addition on CD and if only there were video from those shows, that would be amazing! Many thanks Paul ,

Nice Post Marye! There's no doubt the spring '77 stuff is worthy, however, there's so many soundboard quality shows in circulation it would seem to be a duplication of effort to officially release them. Perhaps we have Betty to thank for this? Hey DrkStr Paul: Check out DP #29 & Download Series #1 for your Palladium show. How 'bout the New Year's run '87-'88? Great shows, and I would gladly plop down $30 for it.

No one show would accomplish this, but I'd love to have a CD with good live versions of all the original songs, and some of the covers, that were performed after "Built to Last." Good versions of Liberty, Eternity, Days Between, So Many Roads, Way to Go Home, Lazy River Road, Corrina, Easy Answers, If the Shoe Fits, Samba in the Rain, as well as covers like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, It's All Too Much, etc. Steve Premo -- Santa Cruz, California "If there's ever an answer, it's more love" - Tim O'Brien

Marye says: "Our friends the Rhinos have various and sundry new releases in the development process." Pardon my skepticism, but when are we going to see this stuff? My personal opinion is that the lack of new releases is causing the customers (i.e., us) to lose interest. I'd like to see 3 or 4 new CD releases, plus a DVD, every year. I know I am probably in a small minority but I loved the way the Dead did the old Irish folk song Maid of Fifeo. I heard them do it at a show, had an old soundboard tape which I can no longer find. Is it on any show CDs now ? Tanks to anyone who knows. Burt Bayonne628@aol.com

You are gonna' have to provide a little more info. I searched "maid" "maide" and "fifeo" in Deadbase and there were no matches for song titles containing any of those words. Other possible titles or spellings? Richard

That which you seek may be the Bonnie Lass of Fyvie-o, a folk song also known as Fennario. Peggy-O is a variant of this and although Deadbase does not mention it, the Setlists site returns two hits on 'Fennario' 05/25/95- Memorial Stadium - Seattle, WA 06/04/95- Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View, CA Whether the Dead sang a different version in those shows or any others I do not know Here is one version There once was a troop o' Irish dragoons Cam marching doon through Fyvie-o And the captains fall in love wi' a very bonnie lass And her name it was cad pretty Peggy-o There's many a bonnie lass in the Howe o Auchterless There's many a bonnie lass in the Garioch There's many a bonnie Jean in the streets of Aiberdeen But the floor o' them aw lyes in Fyvie-o O come doon the stairs, Pretty Peggy, my dear Come doon the stairs, Pretty Peggy-o Come doon the stairs, comb back your yellow hair Bid a long farewell to your mammy-o It's braw, aye it's braw, a captain's lady for to be And it's braw to be a captain's lady-o It's braw to ride around and to follow the camp And to ride when your captain he is ready-o O I'll give you ribbons, love, and I'll give you rings I'll give you a necklace of amber-o I'll give you a silken petticoat with flounces to the knee If you'll convey me doon to your chamber-o What would your mother think if she heard the guineas clink And saw the haut-boys marching all before you o O little would she think gin she heard the guineas clink If I followed a soldier laddie-o I never did intend a soldier's lady for to be A soldier shall never enjoy me-o I never did intend to gae tae a foreign land And I never will marry a soldier-o I'll drink nae more o your claret wine I'll drink nae more o your glasses-o Tomorrow is the day when we maun ride away So farewell tae your Fyvie lasses-o The colonel he cried, mount, boys, mount, boys, mount The captain, he cried, tarry-o O tarry yet a while, just another day or twa Til I see if the bonnie lass will marry-o Twas in the early morning, when we marched awa And O but the captain he was sorry-o The drums they did beat o'er the bonnie braes o' Gight And the band played the bonnie lass of Fyvie-o Long ere we came to the Howe of Auchterless We had our captain to carry-o And long ere we won into the streets of Aberdeen We had our captain to bury-o Green grow the birks on bonnie Ythanside And low lie the lowlands of Fyvie-o The captain's name was Ned and he died for a maid He died for the bonnie lass of Fyvie-o

OK, I'm confused now.Peggy-O is an extremely common song for the Dead. Some setlists show it as Fennario but it still sounds like Peggy-O to me. Sorry I can't help. Richard

come on, we've all got it already... if you don't, drop me a PM and I'll b&p it for ya. I cast my vote for a decent remaster or , better yet, some kind of matrix of : 11-7-71 Harding Theater if that is possible, since it's one of my favorite shows and the sbd i have sounds like crap. OK, while I'm at it: 12-1-71 Best Cryptical > Other One ever???? also, pretty much anything from that lost fall tour of 72 that might turn up would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

A road trips #2 would be perfect. A whole show from the already highlighted fall 79 tour would be cool. Something that isn't on Road trips #1. Also 4/29/72 that we heard the track from on mondays tapers section would be cool. I'd like all of europe 72 someday. Why not get started. One more I would love something from the 86-89 time I don't think I have any live material from this time and I can't find any official releases either.

I wish they would release a cd of a Deer Creek show from late eighties or early nineties. or a box set from all of them or a road trips with the best of each show. Deer Creek was always a head favorite place to see the boys. I had a lot of great and crazy times there. The riots in 95 sucked but I think a good release would over shadow that incident. I still have the ticket in perfect condition from the show that was cancelled due to the riots. I would also love to see a release from Cincinnati 1989. That was a very good show but I've had a hard time finding a great copy. Please don't forget the Heads from the midwest. The Alpine dvd was good but I would like to see more.

I would love some Shows from 1975.I don't know if this post belongs in this thread, please move it, if it does not. The GD only had 4 shows during this year: March 23, 1975 Venue: Kezar Stadium June 17, 1975 Venue: Winterland Arena August 13, 1975 Great American Music Hall September 28, 1975 Lindley Meadows thanks so much for your time and effort. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Rich man step on my poor head, When you get up you better butter my bread."

Considering that the Great American Music Hall has been released as One From the Vault, 1/4 of 1975 has been officially released, a higher percentage than any other year. So, I doubt we'll see another '75 release.

Ladies & Gentleman, the Grateful Dead was not enough. We should get the entire week the dead played, from April 25 to April 29th, 1971. With special guests each night like the Beach Boys, Allman Bros, TC, that entire week shoud come out as a mini box set. Pretty please =) Then, the last night of the 1973 tour at the Boston Garden. Three sets of pure heaven. -EW
