    November 12 - November 18, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have a double dose of Fall 1979, and some 1984 Grateful Dead.

Our first stop this week is in Cleveland, OH, on 11/29/79, where we have the start of set 2, featuring Shakedown Street>Samson and Delilah, High Times>Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World>Space. Speaking of Cleveland, it's highly recommended that you check out the Grateful Dead exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, which is incredibly cool. The curator has done a terrific job of gathering items from not only the band members, but friends and family of the band, as well as collectors, for what is without a doubt the most interesting and comprehensive collection of GD stuff ever displayed in one place. Three band members have been to visit the exhibit in the past few months, and all have been extremely impressed. Worth the trip, no matter where you're coming from.

Next up is music from a week later, on 12/4/79, the middle night of a three night run in Chicago. From that show we have the unique sequence of Estimated Prophet>Franklin's Tower>Jam. After Franklin's Tower was split from its partners Help On The Way and Slipknot!, it often appeared in different places, from the show-opener, to the pre-Drums launching pad.

Lastly this week we have the entire pre-Drums sequence from 10/31/84 in Berkeley, the fourth of a six night run at the BCT. From that show, we have Touch Of Grey>Samson and Delilah, Ship Of Fools, I Need A Miracle>Ain't Superstitious>He's Gone.

Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault.

    There are also
Several shows with Franklin's Tower in the post drums, perhaps 10/9/76 (a DP) being the first.

    This Cleveland Show
Can't remember if this was at Music Hall or Public Hall. It was my 3rd show and my first glimpse of Brent, who I thought looked just like Rick Wakeman - he had all that long, long blond hair at the time. Nice to hear such a great recording of this. Ah... the memories!

I'd listen to the Dead everyday. O wait. I do! Trouble is i am unable to listen to some of the previous Tapers Section due to some sort of 'ghost link''. Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem? So dust off that old keyboard one more time Dave, and fix us up. Please and thank you. Have a Grateful Day everyone.

re: unable to listen to some of the previous Tapers Section due to some sort of 'ghost link''.Forget ghost links. Some of the old Taper's Section is downright vacant! (even in the wrong place - - in the forums!)

Last weeks may be there but try 2008, 2009, 2010. Poof, most of it gone! It'd be nice if they'd refresh and rearchive these.

I see your point Wilfred T...it would be nice to hear those also and you can't even order CDs from the store..The old web site was certainly adequate enough without all these "kinks" in the system! and its been like this for a while...:((((((
