If you like long shows this ones a monster. The sound of the instruments on this one are just beautiful esp. Jerry's guitar. China>Rider is one of my all time favorites even with a cut right after China. Would buy 2 copies of DP's, or even DL's volume #1?!

Hey now!If you have never heard this show you are certainly missing out. For not having a Darkstar, this show hits some of the most amazing spaces. The He's Gone has wonderful Cosmic Charlie phrasing from Bobby and a really funky ragtime injection from Keith. The final vocal chorus from the band on He's Gone is nothing short of mind blowing. Then there's the transition from He's Gone into Truckin' with more of Bobby's "Ode to Cosmic Charlie" and some of Jerry's best playing of the year, just absolutely gorgeous. Only 2-13-70 bests this music, and 2-13-70 should not even count because it is from an entirely different universe. Everything after Truckin' is spot on- including the best Sugar Magnolia ever. Billy just attacks Sugar Mag as soon as Bobby even hints at playing the song and when Bobby yells, "easy now," it is just plain delerium. PLEASE RELEASE THIS SHOW. It would be really cool to see a release of this show co-packed with 5-26-93, the last great jam. THANK YOU GRATEFUL DEAD!

one of the best shows I ever attended..plus an unusually hot day in SF....fond memoriesI have copies of the show but would treasure an authorized release...please include the NRPS since their set was also choice !!!

It was my first concert and first Dead show. I was 13 years old and made the mistake going with my best friend and my girlfriend. My best friend ended up with my girlfriend, so I hung out with my bro and partied with him and got into the music to forget about it. NRPS, Waylen Jennings were great also from what I remember!! I don't remember much else. My other older brother crashed out on the lawn because the concert was long(thats what I appreciate about the Dead). I remember telling people at school that I went to the concert. Someone replied, "why see the Dead when you could have gone to see Led Zepplin the next week at Kezar. I don't regret it at all now!! oh yea....this was one show that really stands out in my memory.....waylon and the riders were terrific.....and the boys were really on target the whole show......the billing of waylon and the boys was fantastic.....only foreshadowed by my all time billing duo.....the Who and the Woody Herman Orchestra......look back with such great memories of this show and many others i saw mostly at winterland that year......thanks for listenin.....love peace and long live jerry and the rose boys!!!!...jim

no joke, this is a super-classic show. agree totally with andthelam: a no-brainer for dick's picks or road trips. the china>rider is just stunning.

...and after that went to see Johnny Winter at Winterland! Was I ever the trooper!

What a fun day, sunny, in the park, with Waylon and NRPS the country/bluegrass vibe was in the air. You could tell the next day who had attended, the sunburned faces attested to looking into the setting afternoon sun behind the stage. Yes, it would be nice to have this released, there is so much good music from this day.

Great day. Waylon was awesome, and credited the Dead with opening him up to a whole new audience. Lots of great memories, but certainly Phil's quadraphonic bass solo was pretty unique! One of the most impressive China Doll's in memory.

Enhanced by purple microdots which were going around. Jerry said that's some good acid. One of the best concerts I've ever been to, that and the closing of Winterland, the tapes back that up! I know the tape has a splice, but this show is too great to go unreleased. I would buy it even with the glitch.Anyone with pictures from this show please message me.

Came up from Monterrey where I (19-yrs old) was visiting some friends half-way through a 5000+ mi trek hitching from Chicago. As I recall, we were in the stadium early, like ~10:00AM for an 11:00AM start. At ~10:30AM someone from NRPS (Marmaduke?) called over the PA "you don't mind if we start EARLY do ya'?" Of course we all went nuts and they started playing!--Then there were these sheets of translucent-blue, 4-sided pyramids(1200 mc) with a little dip at the top, kinda like 3-D windowpanes -- Waylon fit right in after NRPS country-rock set, then the Dead started sometime early afternoon (at which time I was already seeking shade from an unrelenting Sun) and played ~5-hours (of course, always taking long breaks between songs, or string of songs). The entire show was AWESOME, UNFORGETTABLE and full of LOVE...Oh, take me back!!

You have to hear it there, it's the only way. Tapes got a glitch so that is that. I doubt it gets released.

Waylon and Bob Marley are the two most influential people in forming who I am. Sure the boys in the band were adn always will be a part of me but these guys did it to me. Rolled into the show from Deadwood City in a 65 bug with five adults and I lost my ticket. Lucky there were five of us as we were able to scrounge the ashtray and our pockets and come up with two dollar bills and a bit more in change. figured i might not getin but found a John Cippolina look alike with afist of ticket for sale and he handed me one and dumped all I had in his hand and he said cool. I was now under the gun to make something happen so went on the Ellis Deelightful, mushrooms, peyote chant throught he crowd and a 10 year old kid came up to me in about a flash and opened his hand and had about six barrels of purple acid so I took two and he looked at me like I should pay him or something and just turned around and continued the chant in about 10 minutes I had some window pane a sugar cube and some mushrooms that it looked like someone just pulled out of the turfgrass there. I played football on that field a couple years earlier and then played at the Oakland Coliseum a few years before the Dead did so I guess I was just a bit ahead of the game a yuk ayukka yuk. still we played in many of the same venues Vegas, Hawaii, Stanford Amphitheater (me on my stingray bike) and maybe even Lafayette Louisiana, did they play there. Anywho one of my all time favorite shows for way too many reasons. peace and love

This was the best show I ever attended. I remember it clearly - the heat, the blue skies, the amazing sound system, and the first time I heard the Eyes of the World. I was 17, I was there with most of my close friends, and it was one of the best days of my life.

From what i'm reading here, was a disc set released of this concert? It looks as though i may be several years late, but is it possible to record it from someone? My old audience reel to reel is now a brokedown palace, and this one has some wonderful personal memories. If anyone can help, please contact me. Thanks in advance.......:)
