Why does my browser always hang when I click on the Dead Covers Project, or What Are You Listening to Right Now links? I assume it has something to do with the YouTube video embeds, but man it happens on all of my computers. I run Windows 10, IE 11 with RAM ranging from 8 GB to 16 GB. The issue occurs on all of my machines. Perhaps it's processor related?

I apologize in advance if this has been answered before, but I'm new. I'm playing catch up with releases. 2 that I can't seem to find are the 11/5 &6/79 Spectrum shows released during the Road Trips era. I've read that they were download only, but is there anyway to access them for purchase? It seems strange that they are unavailable given the presence of the other RT shows for download. Thanks

Rich, can't wait to see what you got. I have not changed my contacts since Tony started tracking us. I did see that article, the first that got me thinking it was possible that someone had done such analysis. I also saw someone construct "average" set lists by year (too many links ago). As for this summer's Bobby et al. depends on whether the rumor on Camden pans out. MaryE, thanks for the lead, but can you give a hint how one would "check with Nicholas Meriwether at the Archive"?

Check out this link it has some interesting things.... http://firstmonday.org/article/view/2273/2064 Of all of the shows I've been to, the most memorable post Space tune was Brent's I Will Take You Home 7/04/89 out of space in the light misty rain.....the 80,000 in attendance were mesmerized.... Stay well, hope to see you at a Mayer n Sons show this summer....

Some academics are studying this sort of thing; there were some relevant presentations at the So Many Roads conference at San Jose State. I don't have my program handy, but check with Nicholas Meriwether at the Archive.

I will be giving a presentation on the Grateful Dead phenomenon to an audience that has not had the pleasure of being at a show, but really wants to know what it is all about. One of my themes will be the age-old artistic tension of absolute free-form expression within a confined framework, namely: Set 1, Set 2 with jams and Space, rousing finale, then one Encore. I have seen some stats on which songs most commonly appear as openers, set closers and encores, but I would like to go a little deeper. I am looking for a way to document my observation that one of the recurring elements in these shows is a reflective, soul-searching, song after Space (e.g. Wharf Rat, Ship of Fools, Stella Blue). This is my observation, but I would like to support it with some measure of “Frequency Distribution of Songs Played After Space”. Does this exist?

Is there a place online or on dead.net with Dick's Picks ratings or ratings of the fan-favorite or 'top' Grateful Dead live releases?

Is there an archival space that would have recordings from those early incarnations of the band, or a more appropriate place to ask this question ? The Music Minister at my church is looking to do something in April using music from the band, including those formative years, if possible, and I am trying to help....

If the Betty's have been returned to the vault, does anyone know if they will include previously uncirculated soundboard recordings, or has everything already been transferred and circulated before? I would love to hear soundboard recordings of Shea's Buffalo Theater 1-20-79, 2-6-79 Tulsa (no recording currently circulates), and just for curiosity's sake the notorious next night in Carbondale...

Is anyone able to post in the DaP 9 thread? I hope I didn't blow it up. I just tried to post an html link to one of the old TS entries...now it doesn't work for me anymore!

...I was there so I can tell you what happened. Jake R posted a link to the cover of DaP10. A couple few minutes later, I posted congrats and an html link to the Taper's Section entry of 12/08/08 Thelma - that's when the problems began. The html entry was not posted, and the DaP 9 thread exploded. Where's marye when you need her!?! Sorry, folks. I'm sure all will be ameliorated soon. BTW, the cover for DaP 10 looks great!P.S. I also stated my suspicion that the member formerly known as skeetermcskeets (you know who you are) is the mole!

Why are folks from Poland joining dead.net as new users this AM (with weird anime avatars and weird usernames). They only stick around for a minute or 2. They're not posting anything either; even spam... Anyone with tech acumen know? Does this happen on other sites? With the prevalence of hackers these days, I am led to wonder is my info. on this site secure? I'm a tad freaked out by this...should I be? What's the reason behind this? Is it nefarious action?

How come it looks better than Dead.net? www.jerrygarcia.comCome in folks, get it together and make Dead.net pretty like that one is... P.S. the old Dead.net was better (even the one with the planets!) P.S.S. Of course, on Dead.net there's more going on the way of content and community involvement, but still...

Why is there no info. from Dead.net about the Hampton '79 release? It's only a week until the release date. I wonder if this a Rhino release, a Dead.net sponsored release, or a third party release? I'd have thought they would be hyping it up on the home page by now. For a 'listening party' check the DaP 9 thread, I posted five links of stuff David Lemieux has played over the years on the Taper's Section. If you are viewing the comments in newest first, it is post number 1508. If you are viewing them oldest first it is post number 922.

I am unable to start threads, so someone suggested this link to me to reply to an existing thread. My question is about Sam Hughes and John Williams. Those are the two guys in the 1977 Dead movie who were filmed while arguing about the movie itself. Sam Hughes was claiming that it was too commercial and exploited the Dead fans for money. John argued that it wasn't, and that in a few years Sam would watch the movie and like it. They ended up making a bet. Does anyone know what the bet was, whether or not it was paid off by the loser and/or what ever became of Sam Hughes and John Williams? I've searched the Internet but only found references to the segment in the film. In a way I would think many people would have followed up on this since it was such a noticeable part of the film, but I haven't had any luck. Thanks.

To me it's kind of like Dead archaeology, like when they excavated Rancho Olompali and found all those records. It's an historical event that may have left behind historical artifacts of one sort or another. The one bit of history I have found, and I don't know accurate it is alludes to John Williams being a program director around that time. But as an historical event created to span some length of time it does have a beginning, a middle and an end, with a unique plot arc spanning that length. So if anyone has information about this, please post it. If the bet hasn't been paid off, it might even be worth getting the two together again, if for no other reason than historical closure.

You guys coulda made another $500.00 bucks offa me above and beyond all those winterland tickets I bought back in da day... but I forgot my password and you have this infuriaTING CIRCULAR THING THAT JUST KEEP S sending me around and around(hey.. there could be a song there!) However I just listened to Jerry solo on Hes gone and it filled me with such renewed admiration for the way he could express his emotions through melody... I always lived for those sublime moments when he just squeezed every bit of his heart out in every note and sent me on a roller coaster ride of emotion. I miss Jerry the musician cuz that all he wanted to be and he was damn good at it. A nice guy too.. I met him a coupla times in Cotati. Anyways, I wanted to buy that Wichita tape that you gave me a nibble of and WTF!! Its sold out...Cmon u guys,, u got one more to sell me .. for old times.. all those 2am dinners at IHOP after a dead show... the tuesday nights and thursdays were always the best.. I skipped the Saturday night s after a while cuz Jerry always got most inspired when he didnt feel obligated to. I hope Phil sees this.. I'd like to share with him this little pure nugget of musical wisdom that Jerry said to me when we talked.. I think he might appreciate it.

The links on the page are not working...the 'all mp3's' zip file will work, but individual files on that page will not work. That's why I posted the links to the individual days. I assumed these folks were having a similar problem. Check the links on: http://www.dead.net/30daysofdead - the individual links are faulty (do not point correctly)Hope this helps!

trying to find out about where to find photos and videos of the December 15th, 1986 show at Oakland and really don't know much about much but as an old timer (11 years old when the Warlocks unplugged my 5 pinball games at Magoo's to set up for their show in Mental Park)I wondered if I could find some evidence of me being at this show. Beautiful sunrise over the Gulf of Thailand a few hours ago and hope all you Mentalites are getting some much needed rain. I hope I'm doing this correctly if not maybe someone can dial me in as I am a total neophyte but this was one very special show for me and I would hope tio say everyone else who was there. peace and love Tom

I'd check with Jay Blakesberg, Bob Minkin, and Susana Millman, all of whom I'm pretty sure were shooting. Susana's at mamarazi.com, and the guys come up in Google quite readily. I think they would mostly have band shots rather than crowd, but ya never know, especially with that show, which was fairly historic...

Hey Now!! Old Head here to see my LAST SHOW wanted to TAPE shows, but soldiers field website says no taping. Some various sites refer to capturing signal from main board, other concensus says this is not possible. So I was going to get a tascam DR-07mkII and try to stealth tape. GDTS Too has taper tickets, why would these be such hot tickets if nobody allows taping? What's an Old Deadhead supposed to do? 1/4" stereo jacks just don't work anymore, and car batteries are kind of hard to sneak in wedged inbetween my knees!?! Anybody, Please Advise!! Thank you, hope to see you at the shows!!

We're still trying to figure that one out. Meanwhile, I strongly recommend following the advice on Dead50.net with regard to all this (ordering tix, signing up for presale, etc.), as I expect all will be explained there as things happen. Thanks!
