    Fox Box 72'
3 shows. I have been listening to a lot of 72' ,, 83' and 87'. I believe we will get at least 1 official release from these years in 2014. If not then 89 is sure to be. Would like to hear an awesome 80's version of Row Jimmy , Friend of the Devil, and Let it Grow.

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll hear some music from 1972, 1983 and 1987.

Our first selection is from one of the most highly-regarded shows from one of the Grateful Dead's best years, the big jam sequence from 10/18/72 in St. Louis. This majestic sequence features Playing In The Band>Drums>Dark Star>Morning Dew>Playing In The Band, one of the coolest and biggest split Playings from the early days.

Next up is music from the San Francisco Civic Auditorium on the always great night-before-New Year's on 12/30/83, where we have this very good sequence of Shakedown Street, Man Smart Woman Smarter, Terrapin Station.

Finally this week we have the start of the first set from the final night of a three night run at the Capital Center in Landover, MD on 9/13/87, featuring Iko Iko , Little Red Rooster, Brown Eyed Women, Fever , Stagger Lee , When I Paint My Masterpiece. This is the only Grateful Dead performance of Fever.

Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.

What a glorious 1rst set! An awesome Birdsong closes out the clip here but gets cut off. Is it cut on the master? I'm sure a show like this will get overlooked for official release, especially regarding how the 10/18/72 is talked-up on the description. Sure, the '72 clip is awesome and should be released, but are we going to have to wait 20 years until all releasable '72 - '78 shows come out before we get a steady stream of releases from the mid-late '80s?

The backlash from a mid to late eighties box would be so huge that they are afraid to release it, so will have to wait until the seventies guys go away and leave dead.net "dead by the side of the road". Then maybe us dogs will get a bone thrown to us, I hope I'm wrong but this is what it looks like. #screw the most deadicated customers

How about no more displays of utter ignorance about what "they" are "afraid" to release? Whatever comes out, or has come out, in no way represents a "screw"ing of anybody. It's all good and loved by we fans, generally. At least that's what reasonable and intelligent people would conclude, I am pretty sure. No agenda. No screwing. To all the crying and so-wrong wrong bitches, shut the f*ck up, ok? Thanks! Have a nice day. And see my auctions on Ebay. And seriously, second half of '72 was scary great, thanks Dave for any and all of that.

My solution: GREEK BOX. I think Spring 90 sold out Warlocks sold out 80s box might not sell as fast as DaP10, but i believe it would be welcomed by many. we are children of the 80s, look how we've grown (or not). 4/6/71 sounded very good yesterday and today. I still get to hear Sugar Magnolia through the rest of the show on the way home. whichever way your pleasure tends, keep releasing GD. My wallet complains, but i don't.

to see a Greek box set because finally, shows I was at! But I don't know the underlying realities. Or, for that matter, the underlying realities for Anchorage, which was before my time but one of the all-time greats.

The 10/72 sequence is incredible. They just keep going... especially the Phil solo into a jam with Jerry that takes them into that part of Dark Star, is it called 'Feeling Groovy Jam'? I know a lot of us have spoken about Fall 72, but I am new to the era myself and looking forward to other shows with monster jams like this. Maybe brew another cup of coffee and settle in...

This Sunday night show in Maryland was a nice start to a 6 show run for me, went with 2 of my brothers and headed off Monday morning for a Fabulous 5 nights at MSG. Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart!!!!! Hung out with Harry P and some bikers at an after party in NYC after the Friday night show and enjoyed the Hawaiian Islands best till all hours of the morning. Till the morning comes for sure.

The Cap Center was my main "home" venue back in the day & we were treated to a number of awesome breakouts and returns of classic songs from the Dead's vast repetoir. "FEVER" was a trip! I remember the run of shows as some of the best of the year & the band always seemed to bring it when playing in or around D.C. !!!! Cheers !!!! Also, on the subject of boxed-set releases, howzabout ANCHORAGE, ALASKA !?!?!? or perhaps an ALPINE VALLEY retrospective, maybe a festival retrospective to include Woodstock, Watkins Glen, etc...or may be "Festival Express Box....either way it doesn't manner, I love all eras of the Grateful Dead & look forward to every new release. By the way, the Euro '72 box KILLS, the Spring '77 box KILLS, and the Spring '90 box KILLS...nothing they've released thusfar has been less than stellar!

I would be all over that show if it was released. The best part about 87 was how much fun Jerry was having after what happened the year before, and the rest of the band was right there with him. How about making some of this available for HQ download rather than all that silly limited edition stuff?

That bassolo from S:t Louis 10/18/72 is just fantastic. I´d just love to have a compilation of bassolos from Phil...some are way-out freaky, some swing. Love how unprecitive they are!
