    7.22.84 Space>Morning Dew
Really like this selection - the space is one of my favorites as it features one of the drummers blowing a conch shell at the beginning. The crescendo at the end of Morning Dew is one of my all time favorites! Check out the ascending riff Bob Weir plays at the last bar of the buildup jam. I get the chills listening to this stuff. Thanks for posting this David...

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we've got Grateful Dead music from the 1980s.

Our first selection this week is from 7/5/81 at the Oklahoma City Zoo Shakedown Street, Promised Land, Candyman, Cassidy, Brown Eyed Women, CC Rider, They Love Each Other, Mama Tried>Mexicali Blues. It must have been quite a wake-up call for the animals living next door at the zoo when they Dead kicked into Shakedown Street.

From three years later at the Ventura County Fairgrounds just south of Santa Barbara and north of LA, we have the end of the show on 7/22/84 featuring MorningDew>Throwing Stones>Not Fade Away, Midnight Hour>Brokedown Palace.

Lastly this week s the first set of the opening show of the New Year's run in 1988 in Oakland, from 12/28/88, featuring Iko Iko ; Walkin' Blues ; Jack-A-Roe ; It's All Over Now ; When Push Comes To Shove ; Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Bird Song ; Jack Straw. Jack-A-Roe had just been reintroduced into the repertoire after a long absence a couple of weeks earlier in Long Beach, a very welcome addition to the first set repertoire.

Be sure to join us next week for more music from the vault.
