    interesting ensemble dynamic
The ensemble in Miami 1989’s “Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again” seems a dance between a sort of ritard (Jerry’s doing?) and momentum. If you hear it, it may sound they’re not so together, but a better listen may give a notion of, “Hmm, maybe only Grateful Dead” would characteristically sound so comfortably loose and not in disagreement in such easily flowing tension.

What a great show from 10/27/73. Thanks David! A rare combo of Me & my Uncle > Bertha: has this sequence been performed any other time?

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1972, 1973 and 1989 to start off the month of September.

Our first stop this week is on 10/17/72 in St. Louis, MO, where we have the end of the show featuring Ramble On Rose, Mississippi 1/2 Step>Sugar Magnolia>NFA>GDTRFB>NFA. This is the first of a three night run at the Fox in St. Louis, all three of which are tremendous.

From a year later in Indianapolis on 10/27/73, we have the end of the first set and start of the second set, featuring a classic batch of 1973 Dead: Jack Straw ; Ramble On Rose ; El Paso ; Brown Eyed Women; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Loose Lucy] ; Beat It On Down The Line ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider; SET 2- Me And My Uncle > Bertha.

Lastly this week is the entire first set from the penultimate show of the excellent Fall Tour of 1989, on 10/25/89 in Miami, featuring Hell In A Bucket ; Sugaree ; Just A Little Light ; Friend Of The Devil ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Cold Rain And Snow; Picasso Moon ; Deal.

Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
