    bestival of vibes
my jaw dropped when we drove into town. Thank god we drove in early cause they ended up closing the only road into town. What I remember most about these shows was the vibe. People were just so laid back, & kind hearted. I liked it so much that I ended up moving to Colorado.

    Telluride!!!
This was the most fun I ever had at a Dead show.Amazing times! The shows themselves were ok... Inspired at times. I think the high altitude and the wind kinda messed with the Boys. But it didn't matter. This was all about being there as Telluride welcomed the Dead and Baba Olatungi. Telluride is such a festive place... nothing but good vibes and happy people. And... I've always loved square meals in the most beautiful places on earth! FUN!

We were really lucky the weather was so nice both of these shows. Anyone remember the ride from Arizona to Utah how it was snowing at one point along the way between shows.

As I understand it, Bill Graham saw a "Dead End" sign in Telluride once and thus hatched the idea of bringing the Dead to Telluride. After this show, we were lingering around and saw some people picking up trash as the concertgoers where filtering out. One was Bill Graham himself. We had to pitch-in.

Magical days magical nights. My then girlfriend, now wife, and I drove right to the box office!! and parked at a meter at the dead end. How??
We had all access as we were working for Mickey and Olatunji, distributing marketing sales flyers at all merch sights in venue, for VHS recording of Olatunji at New Year's in Oakland from the year before. Mickey negotiated the video distribution deal with me and Barry Melton with Babatunde's blessing. My company flew me out to shows, mickey hooked up our deep credentials, McNally greeted us, introduced us to merch folk. We dumped off 5000 xeroxed order forms for the video, then participated in 48 hours of dead nirvana. The sets were nothing to write home about...it's 87 right ! But the scene was unmatched.
Highlights?
Olatunje's early morning solstice ceremony
Mickey and Olatunje's procession after first night show, up to civic center where a cool reggae band as jamming
Jerry's broke down broke down!
Main Street of Telluride, like you died and awoke in heaven, cosmic cowboys on the main drag, vegan burritos, dead tunes blaring at every market.
Great memories.
