Groped by a naked lady on the floor

This was my 3rd Dead show. I was 17 and there was a lot of anti-youth sentiment since Touch of Grey came out and turned on a whole new generation, beginning an old fan vs new-fan debate. But I swear, my friends and I were already listening to them for 2 years by then…so we considered ourselves hip to the scene.

Memories galore—yeah, it was hot. I was with a friend in the right side seats and when everyone began jumping over the blue wall onto the floor he said, “C’mon, let’s go!” and vaulted over. I was nervous but followed his lead and was literally caught at the bottom by the arms of a security guy. My buddy, to his credit, stayed with me rather than taking off through the crowd. As the guy was leading us to the rear of the floor we were BEGGING him to let us stay, pointing out the non-stop flow of jumpers that were everywhere. He was cool overall but still wouldn’t budge, took us out past the floor’s rear security and left us there. We didn’t know what do to—I think back then our ripped tickets wouldn’t have even let us get back to our original seats. Suddenly a group of about a dozen people arrived at the security checkpoint all at once and instantly we crammed in with them and somehow got waved through. We were back in!!

At one point while about 150’ or so from the stage and enjoying the water that they were spraying us with there was an obvious disturbance in the crowd to our left. You could see the heads in the densely packed crowd parting and making a lot of noise. Suddenly, the crowd in front of me parts like the Red Sea and there’s a “generously bodied” 100% naked chick with long brown hair, tripping her titties off who was the cause of the ruckus. She’s wandering around while the crowd was madly backing away from her and there’s nowhere for her to go except for a beeline straight into me. She kind of started rubbing herself all over me while the crowd was in absolute hysterics. Eventually she wandered off but what a memory…..there has GOT to be someone here who saw that happen (or maybe even the Naked Lady herself)——anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hell In A Bucket to start
Hell In A Bucket to start this show 30 years ago was appropriate. It was hot as Hell. I remember parking the car and getting out and right back into the A/C. There was nothing about this show that stands out. I was not a Dylan fan and the Dead segment included six songs from "In The Dark" minus "Black Muddy River" which remains the only song I presently have on my iPhone... The Dead with Dylan was OK, and Dylan songs remained in the Dead's, Garcia's and Weir's repertoire...but the show was not a favorite of mine...

Alone and Together, Bob Dylan & Grateful Dead. Thats whats on my ticket stub. It was a Sunday, the concert started at 6:00 pm. I sat all the way up high on the bleacher's . There was lighting and Thunder during the concert too. Don't recall much else, "Must have been a good concert."

I went with Pat Malone and smoked massive amounts of "shish" in the lot, met up with four other friends and ate "shrooms" just before going in.Dancin' while trippin' in the "nose-bleed" seats was a totally new and somewhat harrowing experience!!! ...clams unleashed!

Cool show. Jerry on pedal steel was quite cool. He also ripped the hell out of All Along The Watchtower, which the band later would adopt w/ Weir, as we know.

Bertha ROCKED!!! I mean REALLY ROCKED!! It so cool seeing 70,000+ heads bopping to bertha.. It was so cool!!! Also a false start on one of Dylan's tunes..........The band was playing one thing and Weir was singing another thing....so they stopped and regrouped. Dylan played on touch and heavens door............Which was really good also. Touch of Gray album was JUST released, I rember hearing called "The Brent Album" The Rain and thunder was the following year. Any Cd's or tapes of this show, please contact me......pretty please:)

this (87) was the year of the torrential rain and lightning with a tornado siting in fort lee that i learned of the next day in the paper wnasn't it? it was 86 when it was blazing hot. oh man, its over twenty years ago. the rain storm that i really think is 87 was nuts. they kept playing and it was raining so hard that the music was muffled. then they broke and announced that we on the floor whould all move toward the wall. you know that big blue wall at giants stadium, i knew a girl who jumped it, lots of us did that, and broke her ankle. that was some major lightning though.

I don't recall rain at this show, didn't it start early? The Dead were in fine form, the first two sets were smokin' I have a pretty crappy audience tape, and a very muddy DVD of the Dylan set. Jerry on pedal steel for "tomorrow is Such a long time" was just beautiful! All in all a once in a lifetime event! By the way...Happy Birthday Jer! Miss you. Mike

Trust me. Hot, muggy, overcast with sun at times --but if it rained at all, it was a passing drizzle, and I assure that there was no lightning or downpour. Bought a floor ticket (no chairs down there --festival seating all the way), went in early, got up very near the front. Acres of space, blowing bubbles, making new acquaintances; a totally mellow scene, and then the promoter, John Scher, takes the stage mike, welcomes everyone and then helpfully reminds that "Duh only people dat belong on duh floah...ah duh people dat *paid* t'be deh..." --which of course was the cue for imbeciles in their thousands to leap over the wall and make an overcrowded and dangerous mess of the floor for the next five hours. For most of it, I was in the shadow cast by the stage set (I think that was the gig at which Spike Lee filmed the Levi's commerical with the stage/lighting crew in action), but with everyone behind me roasting and pushing forward (and in most instances with no business being on the floor in the first place), guys on the stage hosed us down before the show and between sets. I was soaked and generally miserable, although the music was pretty good...but I also got sick for three weeks after returning home. So many thanks to John Scher for, in a singular act of stupidity, taking a very good situation and making it needlessly and extremely unpleasant at best and, arguably, dangerous --@$$#%Le.

What a magical event! Yes indeed, it was totally packed and it was boiling HOT! The energy was very HIGH and I remember it did rain as I was in seats that were covered by the upper deck and I remember seeing everyone else getting wet (^_^) My highlight was THE DEW opening the 2nd set! Jerry just played the hell out of it! Every molecule was moving during the end of that song. And yes, the pedal steel was quite sweet indeed! I am feeling there needs to be a DVD released of THIS SHOW! Anyone listening!?!? Thanks for the memories Jerry! Miss You! Brother A

I will never forget this show -- at least, the part I remember. I had no tickets (surprise), but didn't think it would be a problem finding a couple at a stadium show (it wasn't). I road-tripped with my DAD (a very straight-laced, fatally unhip father at that) because he wanted to "meet me on my turf" during the summer before I went away to college (I was 17). I had my doubts about the bonding potential of him trespassing on my scene (and ensured there would be no "meeting of the minds" by dosing 3 drops of exquisite liquid as soon as we got to NJ), but, hey -- he was offering to pay, who was I to say no? He wore a tie-die I made -- along with denim shorts (not cut-offs, mind you) and LL Bean shoes. 90% of the people we met in the lot while looking for tickets & hanging out were sure he was a narc (and I didn't blame them). He kept coming up to me and asking questions like "what are 'shrooms?'" -- which just made me giggle at that point. I gotta give him credit, though -- he though NFA was cool, as he was a Buddy Holly fan back in the day, and he liked the "ashes, ashes" song, as he called it, for the same beat-related reasons. The glorious 2nd-set opener of Dew was completely lost on him, but he remarked that I seemed pleased by it (!) As a father myself now, I gotta hand it to him for trying, even if 98% of the experience was lost on him. A fun day, all in all.

I remember this show being so hot! the Morning Dew 2nd set opener was intense & all of the people jumping onto the floor was totally out of control. Bob's Take a step back was soo melty! And Bertha tore it up! It was one of the best Bertha's Ive heard. Brent's Tons Of Steel was also memorable. The sound was really tinny too. They had speakers on these giant fork-lift kind of things towards the rear of the floor. Dyaln's set was good albeit muffled. I remember Jerry on pedal steel really well. Good Times!

Very hot show indeed! This was back in the day they let you in with drinks...I recall a very large bottle of "lemonade" that didnt last long! Whoever was up front roughly 3rd rowish in front of Jerry....I was there bumpin into you!!! I was sprayed right in the face with the water hose!!!! All I could think of was oh shit not my contacts dont take my eyesite man!! Luckily they stayed in and I had no problems! However...when I went to Greensboro Sunday night I took a spare pair of contacts.....I was afraid I would start crying (tears of joyfulness) and I didnt want to miss anything!
