    August 17 - August 23, 2015

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll span 12 years of Grateful Dead history, 1968 to 1980, with a stop in 1978, with three very distinct iterations of the Grateful Dead.

Our first stop this week is on 8/21/68 at the Fillmore West, where the Grateful Dead played two shows just before the Shrine shows in LA that would become Two From The Vault. From the band's home town, we have Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Death Don't Have No Mercy, with a cut in the master reel of the last song.

From nine years later at the penultimate show of the excellent Spring Tour of 1977, we have the end of the first set from 5/26/77 in Baltimore, featuring Brown Eyed Women; Looks Like Rain ; Jack-A-Roe ; New Minglewood Blues; Bertha. This show has come close to being selected for release a couple of times.

Lastly this week, from 5/29/80 in Des Moines, IA, we have the start of the second set, featuring Feel Like A Stranger ; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

What a grand time in my history with the Grateful Dead. The previous night I was lucky enough to be at the Mosque. Who knew it would be back to back nights of muscial bliss. Please release this a Dave's Pick, this version is so crystal clear it is rockin my world. Thanks so much for all you do!! Kevin

It's great to hear this again since I was there oh-so-many years ago as a long-haired 17 year old. I thought this was 1 of the 6 shows from the Spring '77 tour missing from the vault. Since you state it was up for release a couple of times I guess I can look forward to this being released eventually. In any case keep 'em coming.
