Ain’t it just like the night to play tricks when you’re tryin' to be so quiet? We sit here stranded, though we’re all doin’ our best to deny it And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin’ you to defy it Lights flicker from the opposite loft In this room the heat pipes just cough The country music station plays soft But there’s nothing, really nothing to turn off Just Louise and her lover so entwined And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman’s bluff with the key chain And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the “D” train We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight Ask himself if it’s him or them that’s really insane Louise, she’s all right, she’s just near She’s delicate and seems like the mirror But she just makes it all too concise and too clear That Johanna’s not here The ghost of ’lectricity howls in the bones of her face Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously And when bringing her name up He speaks of a farewell kiss to me He’s sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all Muttering small talk at the wall while I’m in the hall How can I explain? Oh, it’s so hard to get on And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues You can tell by the way she smiles See the primitive wallflower freeze When the jelly-faced women all sneeze Hear the one with the mustache say, “Jeeze I can’t find my knees” Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel The peddler now speaks to the countess who’s pretending to care for him Sayin’, “Name me someone that’s not a parasite and I’ll go out and say a prayer for him” But like Louise always says “Ya can’t look at much, can ya man?” As she, herself, prepares for him And Madonna, she still has not showed We see this empty cage now corrode Where her cape of the stage once had flowed The fiddler, he now steps to the road He writes ev’rything’s been returned which was owed On the back of the fish truck that loads While my conscience explodes The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain

Up on the white verandaShe wears a necktie and a Panama hat Her passport shows a face From another time and place She looks nothing like that And all the remnants of her recent past Are scattered in the wild wind She walks across the marble floor Where a voice from the gambling room is callin' her to come on in She smiles, walks the other way As the last ship sails and the moon fades away From Black Diamond Bay As the morning light breaks open, the Greek comes down And he asks for a rope and a pen that will write Pardon, monsieur, the desk clerk says Carefully removes his fez Am I hearing you right And as the yellow fog is lifting The Greek is quickly heading for the second floor She passes him on the spiral staircase Thinking he's the Soviet Ambassador She starts to speak, but he walks away As the storm clouds rise and the palm branches sway On Black Diamond Bay A soldier sits beneath the fan Doing business with a tiny man who sells him a ring Lightning strikes, the lights blow out The desk clerk wakes and begins to shout Can you see anything Then the Greek appears on the second floor In his bare feet with a rope around his neck While a loser in the gambling room lights up a candle Says, open up another deck But the dealer says, attendez-vous, s'il vous plait As the rain beats down and the cranes fly away From Black Diamond Bay The desk clerk heard the woman laugh As he looked around the aftermath and the soldier got tough He tried to grab the woman's hand Said, here's a ring, it cost a grand She said, that ain't enough Then she ran upstairs to pack her bags While a horse-drawn taxi waited at the curb She passed the door that the Greek had locked Where a handwritten sign read, do not disturb She knocked upon it anyway As the sun went down and the music did play On Black Diamond Bay I've got to talk to someone quick But the Greek said, go away, and he kicked the chair to the floor He hung there from the chandelier She cried, help, there's danger near Please open up the door Then the volcano erupted And the lava flowed down from the mountain high above The soldier and the tiny man were crouched in the corner Thinking of forbidden love But the desk clerk said, it happens every day As the stars fell down and the fields burned away On Black Diamond Bay As the island slowly sank The loser finally broke the bank in the gambling room The dealer said, it's too late now You can take your money, but I don't know how You'll spend it in the tomb The tiny man bit the soldier's ear As the floor caved in and the boiler in the basement blew While she's out on the balcony, where a stranger tells her My darling, je vous aime beaucoup She sheds a tear and then begins to pray As the fire burns on and the smoke drifts away From Black Diamond Bay I was sitting home alone one night in L.A. Watching old Cronkite on the seven o'clock news It seems there was an earthquake that Left nothing but a Panama hat And a pair of old Greek shoes Didn't seem like much was happening So I turned it off and went to grab another beer Seems like every time you turn around There's another hard-luck story that you're gonna hear And there's really nothing anyone can say And I never did plan to go anyway To Black Diamond Bay

I was Cleopatra, I was young and an actressWhen you knelt by my mattress, and asked for my hand But I was sad you asked it, as I laid in a black dress With my father in a casket, I had no plans, yeah And I left the footprints, the mud stained on the carpet And it hardened like my heart did when you left town But I must admit it, that I would marry you in an instant Damn your wife, I'd be your mistress just to have you around But I was late for this, late for that, late for the love of my life And when I die alone, when I die alone, when I die I'll be on time While the church discouraged, any lust that burned within me Yes my flesh, it was my currency, but I held true So I drive a taxi, and the traffic distracts me From the strangers in my backseat, they remind me of you But I was late for this, late for that, late for the love of my life And when I die alone, when I die alone, when I die I'll be on time And the only gifts from my Lord were a birth and a divorce But I've read this script and the costume fits, so I'll play my part I was Cleopatra, I was taller than the rafters But that's all in the past now, gone with the wind Now a nurse in white shoes leads me back to my guestroom It's a bed and a bathroom And a place for the end I won't be late for this, late for that, late for the love of my life And when I die alone, when I die alone, when I die I'll be on time

Going to FTW helped me better understand my Deadhead father
For the longest time, I had trouble understanding how my father—a stern, quick-to-anger disciplinarian—could also be a Deadhead. So when the Dead announced Fare Thee Well last year, I made sure to buy tickets and fly home to Chicago to attend shows with my dad. I wanted to witness a side of him I knew existed, but never quite understood. And I write about that experience here: https://features.wearemel.com/my-disciplinarian-father-the-deadhead-cc7…

So this is Christmas and what have you done,Another year over, a new one just begun. And so this is Christmas, I hope you have fun, The near and the dear ones, the old and the young. A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one without any fears. And so this is Christmas for weak and for strong, The rich and the poor ones, the road is so long. And so happy Christmas for black and for white For the yellow and red ones let's stop all the fights. A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one without any fear. And so this is Christmas and what have we done Another year over, a new one just begun. And so happy Christmas we hope you have fun The near and the dear ones, the old and the young. A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one without any fear. War is over if you want it, war is over now.

    Forever Grateful, and Thankful
You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurantYou can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant Walk right in, it's around the back Just a half a mile from the railroad track You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant... This song is called "Alice's Restaurant." It's about Alice, and the restaurant, but "Alice's Restaurant" is not the name of the restaurant, that's just the name of the song. That's why I call the song "Alice's Restaurant." Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago... two years ago, on Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the restaurant. But Alice doesn't live in the restaurant, she lives in the church nearby the restaurant, in the bell tower with her husband Ray and Facha, the dog. And livin' in the bell tower like that, they got a lot of room downstairs where the pews used to be, and havin' all that room (seein' as how they took out all the pews), they decided that they didn't have to take out their garbage for a long time. We got up here and found all the garbage in there and we decided that it'd be a friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So we took the half-a-ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction, and headed on toward the city dump. Well, we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across the dump sayin', "This dump is closed on Thanksgiving," and we'd never heard of a dump closed on Thanksgiving before, and with tears in our eyes, we drove off into the sunset lookin' for another place to put the garbage. We didn't find one till we came to a side road, and off the side of the side road was another fifteen-foot cliff, and at the bottom of the cliff was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile was better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up, we decided to throw ours down. That's what we did. Drove back to the church, had a Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat, went to sleep, and didn't get up until the next morning, when we got a phone call from Officer Obie. He said, "Kid, we found your name on a envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of garbage and I just wanted to know if you had any information about it." And I said, "Yes sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie. I put that envelope under that garbage." After speakin' to Obie for about forty-five minutes on the telephone, we finally arrived at the truth of the matter and he said that we had to go down and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the Police Officer Station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the Police Officer Station. Now, friends, there was only one of two things that Obie could've done at the Police Officer Station, and the first was that he could've given us a medal for bein' so brave and honest on the telephone (which wasn't very likely, and we didn't expect it), and the other thing was that he could've bawled us out and told us never to be seen drivin' garbage around in the vicinity again, which is what we expected. But when we got to the Police Officer Station, there was a third possibility that we hadn't even counted upon, and we was both immediately arrested, handcuffed, and I said, "Obie, I can't pick up the garbage with these here handcuffs on." He said: "Shut up kid, and get in the back of the patrol car." And that's what we did . . . sat in the back of the patrol car, and drove to the quote scene of the crime unquote. I wanna tell you 'bout the town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where this is happenin'. They got three stop signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the scene of the crime, there was five police officers and three police cars, bein' the biggest crime of the last fifty years and everybody wanted to get in the newspaper story about it. And they was usin' up all kinds of cop equipment that they had hangin' around the Police Officer Station. They was takin' plaster tire tracks, footprints, dog-smellin' prints and they took twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explainin' what each one was, to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner, the southwest corner . . . and that's not to mention the aerial photography! After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was gonna put us in a cell. He said: "Kid, I'm gonna put you in a cell. I want your wallet and your belt." I said, "Obie, I can understand your wantin' my wallet, so I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you want my belt for?" and he said, "Kid, we don't want any hangin's." I said, "Obie, did you think I was gonna hang myself for litterin'?" Obie said he was makin' sure, and, friends, Obie was, 'cause he took out the toilet seat so I couldn't hit myself over the head and drown, and he took out the toilet paper so I couldn't bend the bars, roll the toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie was makin' sure. It was about four or five hours later that Alice--(remember Alice? There's a song about Alice.)--Alice came by and, with a few nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back to the church, had another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat, and didn't get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court. We walked in, sat down, Obie came in with the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, sat down. Man came in, said, "All rise!" We all stood up, and Obie stood up with the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures, and the judge walked in, sat down, with a seein' eye dog and he sat down. We sat down. Obie looked at the seein' eye dog . . . then at the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one . . . and looked at the seein' eye dog . . . and then at the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each on and began to cry. Because Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American blind justice, and there wasn't nothin' he could do about it, and the judge wasn't gonna look at the twenty-seven 8 by 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explainin' what each one was, to be used as evidence against us. And we was fined fifty dollars and had to pick up the garbage... in the snow. But that's not what I'm here to tell you about. I'm here to talk about the draft. They got a buildin' down in New York City called Whitehall Street, where you walk in, you get injected, inspected, detected, infected, neglected and selected! I went down and got my physical examination one day, and I walked in, sat down (got good and drunk the night before, so I looked and felt my best when I went in that morning, 'cause I wanted to look like the All-American Kid from New York City. I wanted to feel like . . . I wanted to be the All-American Kid from New York), and I walked in, sat down, I was hung down, brung down, hung up and all kinds of mean, nasty, ugly things. And I walked in, I sat down, they gave me a piece of paper that said: "Kid, see the psychiatrist in room 604." I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I wanna kill. I wanna kill! I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth! Eat dead, burnt bodies! I mean: Kill. Kill!" And I started jumpin' up and down, yellin' "KILL! KILL!" and he started jumpin' up and down with me, and we was both jumpin' up and down, yellin', "KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!" and the sergeant came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said "You're our boy". Didn't feel too good about it. Proceeded down the hall, gettin' more injections, inspections, detections, neglections, and all kinds of stuff that they was doin' to me at the thing there, and I was there for two hours... three hours... four hours... I was there for a long time goin' through all kinds of mean, nasty, ugly things, and I was just havin' a tough time there, and they was inspectin', injectin', every single part of me, and they was leavin' no part untouched! Proceeded through, and I finally came to see the very last man. I walked in, sat down, after a whole big thing there. I walked up, and I said, "What do you want?" He said, "Kid, we only got one question: Have you ever been arrested?" And I proceeded to tell him the story of Alice's Restaurant Massacree with full orchestration and five-part harmony and stuff like that, and other phenomenon. He stopped me right there and said, "Kid, have you ever been to court?" And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one . . . He stopped me right there and said, "Kid, I want you to go over and sit down on that bench that says 'Group W'." And I walked over to the bench there, and there's... Group W is where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after committin' your special crime. There was all kinds of mean, nasty, ugly-lookin' people on the bench there . . . there was mother-rapers . . . father-stabbers . . . father-rapers! FATHER-RAPERS sittin' right there on the bench next to me! And they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible and crime fightin' guys were sittin' there on the bench, and the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one . . . the meanest father-raper of them all . . . was comin' over to me, and he was mean and ugly and nasty and horrible and all kinds of things, and he sat down next to me. He said, "Kid, what'd you get?" I said, "I didn't get nothin'. I had to pay fifty dollars and pick up the garbage." He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?" and I said, "Litterin'"' . . . . And they all moved away from me on the bench there, with the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean, nasty things, till I said, "And creatin' a nuisance . . . " And they all came back, shook my hand, and we had a great time on the bench talkin' about crime, mother-stabbin', father-rapin', . . . all kinds of groovy things that we was talkin' about on the bench, and everything was fine. We was smokin' cigarettes and all kinds of things, until the sergeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it up and said: "KIDSTHISPIECEOFPAPERSGOTFOURTYSVENPAGESTHIRTYSEVENSENTENCESFIFTYEIGHTWORDSWEWANTTOKNOWTHEDETAILSOFTHECRIMETHETIMEOFTHECRIMEANDANYOTHERKINDOFTHINGYOUGOTTOSAYPERTAININGTOANDABOUTTHECRIMEWEWANTTOKNOWTHEARRESTINGOFFICERSNAMEANDANYOTHERTHINGYOUGOTTOSAY . . ." And he talked for forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said. But we had fun fillin' out the forms and playin' with the pencils on the bench there. I filled out the Massacree with the four-part harmony. Wrote it down there just like it was and everything was fine. And I put down my pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there . . . on the other side . . . in the middle of the other side . . . away from everything else on the other side . . . in parentheses . . . capital letters . . . quotated . . . read the following words: "Kid, have you rehabilitated yourself?" I went over to the sergeant. Said, "Sergeant, you got a lot of god-damned gall to ask me if I've rehabilitated myself! I mean . . . I mean . . . I mean that you send . . . I'm sittin' here on the bench . . . I mean I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench, 'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough to join the army, burn women, kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and said, "Kid, we don't like your kind! We're gonna send your fingerprints off to Washington"! And, friends, somewhere in Washington, enshrined in some little folder, is a study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I'm singin' you the song now is 'cause you may know somebody in a similar situation. Or you may be in a similar situation, and if you're in a situation like that, there's only one thing you can do: Walk into the shrink wherever you are, just walk in, say, "Shrink, . . . you can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant", and walk out. You know, if one person, just one person, does it, they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And if three people do it! Can you imagine three people walkin' in, singin' a bar of "Alice's Restaurant" and walkin' out? They may think it's an organization! And can you imagine fifty people a day? I said FIFTY people a day . . . walkin' in, singin' a bar of "Alice's Restaurant" and walkin' out? Friends, they may think it's a MOVEMENT, and that's what it is: THE ALICE'S RESTAURANT ANTI-MASSACREE MOVEMENT! . . . and all you gotta do to join is to sing it the next time it comes around on the guitar. With feelin'... You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant Walk right in, it's around the back Just a half a mile from the railroad track You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant...

I scare myself just thinking about youI scare myself when I'm without you I scare myself the moment that you're going I scare myself when I let my thoughts run And when they're running I keep thinking of you And when they're running What can I do? I scare myself, and I don't mean lightly I scare myself, it can get frightening I scare myself, to think what I could do I scare myself it's some kind of voodoo And with that voodoo I keep thinking of you And with that voodoo What can I do? But it's so so very different when we're together And I'm so so much calmer; I feel better Cause the stars already crossed our paths forever And the sooner that you realize it the better And then I'll be with you and I won't scare myself And I'll know what to do and I won't scare myself And my thoughts will run and I won't scare myself And I'll think of you and I won't scare myself

Iron-clad feather-feet pounding the dust An October's day, towards evening Sweat embossed veins standing proud to the plough Salt on a deep chest seasoning Last of the line at an honest day's toil Turning the deep sod under Flint at the fetlock, chasing the bone Flies at the nostrils plunder. The Suffolk, the Clydesdale, the Percheron vie with the Shire on his feathers floating Hauling soft timber into the dusk to bed on a warm straw coating. Heavy Horses, move the land under me Behind the plough gliding --- slipping and sliding free Now you're down to the few And there's no work to do The tractor's on its way. Let me find you a filly for your proud stallion seed to keep the old line going. And we'll stand you abreast at the back of the wood behind the young trees growing To hide you from eyes that mock at your girth, and your eighteen hands at the shoulder And one day when the oil barons have all dripped dry and the nights are seen to draw colder They'll beg for your strength, your gentle power your noble grace and your bearing And you'll strain once again to the sound of the gulls in the wake of the deep plough, sharing. Standing like tanks on the brow of the hill Up into the cold wind facing In stiff battle harness, chained to the world Against the low sun racing Bring me a wheel of oaken wood A rein of polished leather A Heavy Horse and a tumbling sky Brewing heavy weather. Bring a song for the evening Clean brass to flash the dawn across these acres glistening like dew on a carpet lawn In these dark towns folk lie sleeping as the heavy horses thunder by to wake the dying city with the living horseman's cry At once the old hands quicken --- bring pick and wisp and curry comb --- thrill to the sound of all the heavy horses coming home.

Jessie went away last summer, a couple of months ago. After all our time together, it was hard to see her go. She called me right up when she arrived, asked me one more time to come, but living on an LA freeway ain't my kind of having fun. I think I'd rather be a cowboy, I think I'd rather ride the range. I think I'd rather be a cowboy than to lay me down in love and lady's chains. When we were just beginning, it was such an easy way. Laying back up in the mountains making love for sunny days. She got tired of picking daisies and cooking my meals for me, she can live the life she wants to, yes, it's all right with me. I think I'd rather be a cowboy, I think I'd rather ride the range. I think I'd rather be a cowboy than to lay me down in love and lady's chains. I'd rather live on the side of a mountain than wander through canyons of concrete and steel. I'd rather laugh in the rain and sunshine and lay down my sundown in some starry field. Oh, but I miss her in the morning when I awake alone. The absence of her laughter is a cold and empty sound. But her memory always makes me smile and I want you to know, I love her, yes I love her just enough to let her go. I think I'd rather be a cowboy, I think I'd rather ride the range. I think I'd rather be a cowboy than to lay me down in love and lady's chains. I think I'd rather be a cowboy, I think I'd rather ride the range. I think I'd rather be a cowboy than to lay me down in love and lady's chains.

Are there any morereal cowboys Left out in these hills? Will the fire hit the iron One more time? And will one more dusty pick-up Coming rolling down the road With a load of feed before the sun gets high? Well, I hope that working cowboy never dies. Not the one that's snortin' cocaine When the honky-tonk's all closed But the one that prays for more rain Heaven knows That the good feed brings the money And the money buys the clothes Not the diamond sequins shining on TV But the kind the working cowboy really needs. Are there any more country families Still working hand in hand Trying hard to stay together And make a stand? While the rows and rows of houses Come creepin' up on the land Where the cattle graze and an old grey barn still stands Are there any more real cowboys in this land? Are there any more real cowboys in this land?

An old cowboy went ridin out one dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw Plowin through the ragid skies and up a cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky For he saw the riders comin hard and he heard their mournful cries Yippie i ohhh ohh ohh Yippie i aye ye ye Ghost riders in the sky Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred Their shirts all soaked with sweat He's ridin hard to catch that herd But he aint caught em yet Cause they got to ride forever in that range up in the sky On horses snortin fire as they ride on hear their cries As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name 'if you wanna save your soul from hell a-ridin on our range Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride Tryin to catch the devil's herd across these endless skies Yippie i ohhh oh oh Yippie i aye ye ye Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky

This morning I woke up aloneI spent the day time on my own Lots of people have come and gone To hear a cowboy sing an old time song Oh babe, I love you so This here is the only thing I know It ain't right and it ain't wrong To hear a cowboy sing an old time song Last night I sat till closing time Thinking of the things that crossed my mind You were the one I was thinking of I guess it must be that I'm just in love Oh babe, I love you so This here is the only thing I know It ain't right, it ain't wrong To hear a cowboy sing an old time song I hope they play this song of mine On the jukebox for a dime Then if you leave 'cause something's wrong You'll hear your cowboy sing an old time song Oh babe, I love you so This here is the only thing I know It ain't right and it ain't wrong To hear a cowboy sing an old time song To hear a cowboy sing an old time song

I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trailA starry night, a campfire light The coyote call, the howling winds wail So I ride out to the old sundown I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trail Lord, I'm just thinking about a certain female The nights we spent together riding on the range Looking back it seems so strange Roll me over and turn me around Let me keep spinning till I hit the ground Roll me over and let me go Running free with the buffalo I was took in Texas I did not know her name Lord, all these southern girls seem the same Down below the border in a town in Mexico I got my job busting broncs for the rodeo Roll me over and turn me around Let me keep spinning till I hit the ground Roll me over and let me go Riding in the rodeo Roll me over and set me free The cowboy's life is the life for me

I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart I wanna learn to rope and ride I wanna ride through the plains and the desert Out west of the Great Divide I wanna hear the coyotes singing As the sun sets in the west I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart That's the life I love the best [yodeling] I wanna ride Old Paint Moving at a run I wanna feel the wind in my face A thousand miles away from all Movin' at a cowhand's pace I want to pillow my head Beneath the open sky As the sun sets in the west I wanna strum my guitar and yodel-le-hee-hee That's the life I love the best [yodeling] [Musical Interlude] YEE-HAW!!!

When I was just a little girl I asked my mother, "What will I be? Will I be pretty, will I be rich?" Here's what she said to me "Que Sera, Sera, Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours to see Que Sera, Sera What will be, will be" When I grew up, and fell in love I asked my sweetheart, "What lies ahead? Will we have rainbows, day after day?" Here's what my sweetheart said "Que Sera, Sera Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours, to see Que Sera, Sera What will be, will be" Now I have children of my own They ask their father, "What will I be Will I be handsome, will I be rich?" I tell them tenderly "Que Sera, Sera Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours, to see Que Sera, Sera What will be, will be"

Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll When evening comes around And it's time to go to town Where do you go To rock and roll Well, the old folks say That ya gotta end your date by ten If you're out on a date And you bring it home late it's a sin You know there's no excusin' You know you're gonna lose and never win I'll play it again And it's all because Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll When evening comes around And it's time to go to town Where do you go To rock and roll You pull into a drive-in And find a place to park You hop into the backseat Where you know it's nice and dark You're just about to move in, Thinkin' it's a breeze There's a light in your eyes And then a guy says "Out of the car, Longhair" "Louise, you're comin' with me And no more movies" And it's all because Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll When evening comes around And it's time to go to town Where do you go To rock and roll Where do you go To rock and roll Where do you go To rock and roll

...and with Daydreamers around, no worries! When I get older losing my hair Many years from now Will you still be sending me a valentine Birthday greetings, bottle of wine? If I'd been out till quarter to three Would you lock the door? Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? You'll be older too And if you say the word I could stay with you I could be handy, mending a fuse When your lights have gone You can knit a sweater by the fireside Sunday mornings go for a ride Doing the garden, digging the weeds Who could ask for more? Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight If it's not too dear We shall scrimp and save Grandchildren on your knee Vera, Chuck & Dave Send me a postcard, drop me a line Stating point of view Indicate precisely what you mean to say Yours sincerely, wasting away Give me your answer, fill in a form Mine for evermore Will you still need me, will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? Ho!

Boy it's all or nothing here in STL. We went from September to November in about two weeks. These overcast bleak days are already killing me! I need a sunlamp. Winter is here again oh Lord, Haven't been home in a year or more I hope she holds on a little longer Sent a letter on a long summer day Made of silver, not of clay I've been runnin' down this dusty road [Chorus:] Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin' I've been trying to make it home Got to make it before too long I can't take this very much longer I'm stranded in the sleet and rain Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again The mornin' sun is risin' It's kissing the day [Chorus] Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin' I don't know where I'll be tomorrow Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry.Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high. If I had a day that I could give you, I'd give to you the day just like today. If I had a song that I could sing for you, I'd sing a song to make you feel this way. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high. If I had a tale that I could tell you, I'd tell a tale sure to make you smile. If I had a wish that I could wish for you, I'd make a wish for sunshine for all the while. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high.

You are the sunshine of my life That's why I'll always be around, You are the apple of my eye, Forever you'll stay in my heart I feel like this is the beginning, Though I've loved you for a million years, And if I thought our love was ending, I'd find myself drowning in my own tears You are the sunshine of my life, That's why I'll always stay around, You are the apple of my eye, Forever you'll stay in my heart You must have known that I was lonely, Because you came to my rescue, And I know that this must be heaven, How could so much love be inside of you? You are the sunshine of my life, yeah, That's why I'll always stay around, You are the apple of my eye, Forever you'll stay in my heart [Background] Love has joined us, Love has joined us, Let's think sweet love

Hey babe, what's in your eyes?I saw them flashing like airplane lights You fill my cup, babe, that's for sure I must come back for a little more You got my heart you got my soul You got the silver you got the gold You got the diamonds from the mine Well that's all right, it'll buy some time Tell me, honey, what will I do When I'm hungry and thirsty too Feeling fooling (and that's for sure) Just waiting here at your kitchen door? Hey baby, what's in your eyes? Is that the diamonds from the mine? What's that laughing in your smile? I don't care, no, I don't care Oh babe, you got my soul You got the silver you got the gold If that's your love, just leave me blind I don't care, no, that's no big surprise

Bill Nelson is a freak....I saw Be Bop Deluxe in 1976.....unforgettable experience, they called it quits way too soon..... Out across the heavens When you're sleeping in your bed Someone turns a light on Can you feel it burn inside your head? Floating out your window On the streams of purest sound Can you see the town In midnight eiderdown? Wrapped in your dressing gown And robed in space Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus Span the space between us with a tune Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus Play their music, specially for you Change your faces slowly 'Til the morning warms the sky All you see is holy But to be reborn all has to die Children of past summers We are moving to the end Can you wave your hand? And have you heard the plan? It's time to tune the band Play on, play on Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus Span the space between us with a tune Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus Play their music, specially for you

Freaks are cool. Long live the freaks. Like a square peg in a round hole Like a harp without it's strings Like a sailor who sails no oceans Like a bird that has no wings (Without love) I am a desert (Without love) My light is dim (Without love) I have no treasures (Without love) I cannot win Without love we are like ships in the night Without love selling our souls down the river Sailing away and forever Our pleasure is blue Like a dream that has no dreamer (Like a) Like a cloud without a sky (Like a) Like a truth with no believer (Like a) Like a mother without a child Without love I have no pleasures Without love my light is dim Without love I have no treasures Without love my chance is slim Without love we are like ships in the night Without love selling our souls down the river Sailing away and forever Our pleasure is blue

Modern music on my radio Another station and another show If only I could let my feelings go When you're lonely and you're far away, When those steel guitars begin to play Please don't let them steal your heart away (from me) I hear the rhythm of the rain begin A shining broadcast on a silver wind And you receive these programs deep within See the mountain in the blazing sky I hear the flames sing, but I don't know why I hope that only shadows see me cry (for you) I feel like I'm falling The music is calling me away, leave today You know that I'm needing all the love that I'm leaving Here with you... A song for two

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle see his banners go! Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. Like a mighty army moves the church of God; brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, one in hope and doctrine, one in charity. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the church of Jesus constant will remain. Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng, blend with ours your voices in the triumph song. Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King, this through countless ages men and angels sing.

I said a hip hop, Hippie to the hippie, The hip, hip a hop, and you don't stop, a rock it To the bang bang boogie, say, up jump the boogie, To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat. Now, what you hear is not a test - I'm rappin' to the beat, And me, the groove, and my friends are gonna try to move your feet. See, I am Wonder Mike, and I'd like to say hello, To the black, to the white, the red and the brown, The purple and yellow. But first, I gotta Bang bang, the boogie to the boogie, Say up jump the boogie to the bang bang boogie, Let's rock, you don't stop, Rock the rhythm that'll make your body rock. Well so far you've heard my voice but I brought two friends along, And the next on the mic is my man Hank, C'mon, Hank, sing that song! Check it out, I'm the C-A-S-A, the N-O-V-A, And the rest is F-L-Y, You see I go by the code of the doctor of the mix, And these reasons I'll tell you why. You see, I'm six foot one, and I'm tons of fun When I dress to a T, You see, I got more clothes than Muhammad Ali and I dress so viciously. I got bodyguards, I got two big cars That definitely ain't the wack, I got a Lincoln Continental and a sunfoofed Cadillac. So after school I take a dip in the pool, Which is really on the wall, I got a colour TV, so I can see The Knicks play basketball. Hear me talk about Checkbooks, credit cards, mo' money Than a sucker could ever spend, But I wouldn't give a sucker or a bum form the Rucker Not a dime 'til I made it again. Everybody go Ho-tel, Mo-tel, Whatcha gonna do today? (Say what?) 'Cos I'm a get a fly girl, Gonna get some spank n' drive off in a def OJ. Everybody go Ho-tel, Mo-tel, Holiday Inn, Say if your girl starts actin' up, then you take her friend. Master Gee! My mellow! It's on to you, so whatcha gonna do? Well, it's on'n'n'on'n'on on'n'on, The beat don't stop until the break of dawn. I said M-A-S, T-E-R, a G with a double E, I said I go by the unforgettable name Of the man they call the Master Gee. Well, my name is known all over the world By all the foxy ladies and the pretty girls. I'm goin' down in history As the baddest rapper there ever could be. Now I'm feelin' the highs and you're feelin' the lows, The beat starts gettin' into your toes You start poppin' your fingers and stompin' your feet And movin' your body while while you're sitting in your seat And then damn! Ya start doin' the freak, I said Damn! Right outta your seat Then you throw your hands high in the air, Ya rockin' to the rhythm, shake your derriere Ya rockin' to the beat without a care, With the sureshot MCs for the affair. Now, I'm not as tall as the rest of the gang But I rap to the beat just the same. I got a little face, and a pair of brown eyes All I'm here to do, ladies, is hypnotize Singin' on'n'n'on'n'on on'n'on, The beat don't stop until the break of dawn Singin' on'n'n'on'n'on on'n'on, Like a hot buttered pop da pop da pop dibbie dibbie Pop da pop pop, don't you dare stop Come alive y'all, gimme whatcha got I guess by now you can take a hunch And find that I am the baby of the bunch But that's okay, I still keep in stride, 'Cos all I'm here to do is just wiggle your behind Singin' on'n'n'on'n'on on'n'on, The beat don't stop until the break of dawn. Singin' on'n'n'on'n'on on'n'on, Rock rock, y'all, throw it on the floor I'm gonna freak you here, I'm gona freak you there, I'm gonna move you outta this atmosphere. 'Cos I'm one of a kind and I'll shock your mind I'll put TNT in your behind. I said One, two, three, four, come on, girls, get on the floor A-come alive, y'all, a-gimme whatcha got 'Cos I'm guaranteed to make you rock I said one, two, three, four, tell me, Wonder Mike What are you waiting for? I said a hip hop, The hippie to the hippie The hip hip a hop, and you don't stop, a rock it To the bang bang boogie, say up jump the boogie, To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat. A Skiddleebebop, we rock, scooby doo, And guess what, America, we love you 'Cos you rocked and a rolled with so much soul, You could rock 'til a hundred and one years old. I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, But we like hot butter on our breakfast toast Rock it up, Baby Bubba! Baby Bubba to the boogie da bang bang da boogie To the beat, beat, it's unique Come on everybody and dance to the beat! [Drum break] A hip hop The hippie to the hippie the Hip hip a hop and you don't stop, rock it Rock it out, Baby Bubba to the boogie da bang bang The boogie to the boogie, the beat. I said, I can't wait 'til the end of the week When I'm rappin' to the rhythm of a groovy beat And I attempt to raise your body heat. Just blow your mind, so you can't speak And do a thing but a-rock and shuffle your feet And let it change up to a dance called the freak And when you finally do come into your rhythmic beat, Reast a little while so you don't get weak. I know a man named Hank He has more rhymes than a serious bank So come on Hank, sing that song, To the rhythm of the boogie, the bang bang da bong! Well, I'm Imp the Dimp, the ladies' pimp, The women fight for my delight. But I'm the grandmaster with the three MCs That shock the house for the young ladies And when you come inside, into the front, You do the freak, spank, and do the bump And when the sucker MC try to prove a point, We're a treacherous trio, we're the serious joint! a-From sun to sun and from time to time I sit down and write a brand new rhyme Because they say that miracles never cease I've created a devastating masterpiece I'm gonna rock the mic 'til you can't resist, Everybody, I say it goes like this Well, I was walking home late one afternoon A reporter stopped me for an interview She said she's heard stories and she's heard fables That I'm vicious on the mic and the turntable This young reporter I did adore, So I rocked some vicious rhymes like I never did before She said, "Damn, fly guy, I'm in love with you The Casanova legend must have been true" I said, "By the way, baby, what's your name?" Said, "I go by name of Lois Lane And you could be my boyfriend, you surely can, Just let me quit my boyfriend called Superman." I said, "He's a fairy, I do suppose Flyin' through the air in pantyhose He may be very sexy, or even cute, But he looks like a sucker in a blue and red suit," I said, "You need a man man who's got finesse And his whole name across his chest He may be able to fly all through the night, But can he rock a party 'til the early light? He can't satisfy you with his little worm, But I can bust you out with my super sperm!" I go do it, I go do it, I go do it, do it, do it. An' I'm here an' I'm there, I'm Big Ban Hank, I'm everywhere Just throw your hands up in the air And party hardy like you just don't care Let's do it, don't stop, y'all, a tick tock, y'all, you don't stop! Go ho-tel, mo-tel, whatcha gonna do today? (Say what?) I'm gonna get a fly girl, gonna get some spank, drive off in a def OJ, Everybody go, "Ho-tel, mo-tel, Holiday Inn" You say if your girl starts actin' up, then you take her friend I say skip, dive, what can I say? I can't fit 'em all inside my OJ, So I just tak half, and bust 'em out, I give the rest to Master Gee so he can shock the house It was twelve o'clock one Friday night I was rockin' to the beat and feelin' all right Everybody was dancin' on the floor Doin' all the things they never did before And then this fly girl with a sexy lean She came into the bar, she came into the scene She travelled deeper inside the room All the fellas checked out her white Sassoons She came up to the table, looked into my eyes Then she turned around and shook her behind So I said to myself, it's time for me to release My vicious rhyme I call my masterpiece And now people in the house, this is just for you A little rap to make you boogaloo Now the group you hear is called Phase Two And let me tell you somethin', we're a helluva crew Once a week, we're on the street Just to cut in the jams and look at your feet For you to party, you gotta have the moves, So we'll get right down and get you a groove For you to dance, you got to be hot So we'll get right down and make you rock Now the system's on and the girls are there You definitely have a rockin' affair But let me tell you somethin', there's still one fact And to have a party, you got to have a rap So when the party's over, you're makin' it home, And tryin' to sleep before the break of dawn And while you're sleepin', you start to dream, And thinkin' how you danced on the disco scene My name appears in your mind, Yeah, a name you know that was right on time It was Phase Two just doin' a do Rockin' you down 'cos you knew we could To the rhythm of the beat that makes you freak, Come alive girls, get on your feet To the rhythm of the beat to the beat the beat To the double beat beat that makes you freak To the rhythm of the beat that says you go on On'n'on into the break of dawn Now I got a man comin' on right now He's garuanteed to throw down He goes by the name of Wonder Mike Come on, Wonder Mike, do what you like! I say a can of beer that's sweeter than honey, Like a millionaire that has no money Like a rainy day that is not wet, Like a gamblin' fiend that does not bet Like Dracula without his fangs, Like the boogie to the boogie without the boogie bang Like collard greens that don't taste good, Like a tree that's not made out of wood Like goin' up and not comin' down, Is just like the beat without the sound, no sound To the beat beat, you do the freak Everybody just rock and dance to the beat Have you ever went over a friends house to eat And the food just ain't no good? The macaroni's soggy, the peas are mushed, And the chicken tastes like wood So you try to play it off like you think you can By saying that you're full And then your friend says, "Mama, he's just being polite He ain't finished, uh-uh, that's bull!" So your heart starts pumpin' and you think of a lie And you say that you already ate And your friend says "Man, there's plenty of food" So you pile some more on your plate While the stinky food's steamin', your mind starts to dreamin' Of the moment that it's time to leave And then you look at your plate and your chicken's slowly rottin' Into something that looks like cheese Oh so you say "That's it, I gotta leave this place I don't care what these people think, I'm just sittin' here makin' myself nauseous With this ugly food that stinks" So you bust out the door while it's still closed Still sick from the food you ate And then you run to the store for quick relief From a bottle of Kaopectate And then you call your friend two weeks later To see how he has been And he says, "I understand about the food, Baby Bubba, but we're still friends" With a hip hop the hippie to the hippie The hip hip a hop, a you don't stop the rockin' To the bang bang boogie Say up jump the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat I say, "Hank, can ya rock? Can ya rock to the rhythm that just don't stop? Can ya hip me to the shoobie doo?" I said, "Come on, make, make the people move!" I go to the balls and then ring the bell Because I am the man with the clientele And if ya ask me why I rock so well, A Big Bang, I got clientele And from the time I was only six years old I never forgot what I was told It was the best advice I ever had It came from my wise, dear old dad He said, "Sit down, punk, I wanna talk to you And don't say a word until I'm through Now there's a time to laugh, a time to cry A time to live and a time to die A time to break and a time to chill To act civilized or act real ill But whatever you do in your lifetime You never let an MC steal your rhyme" So from six to six 'til this very day I'll always remember what he had to say So when the sucker MCs try to chump my style I let them know that I'm versatile I got style, finesse, and a little black book That's filled with rhymes and I know you wanna look But the thing that seperates you from me And that is called originality Because my rhymes are on from what you heard I didn't even bite, not a go---word And I say a little more, later on tonight So the sucker MCs can bite all night A tick a tock, y'all, a beat beat, y'all A let's rock, y'all, you don't stop Ya go, "Ho-tel, mo-tel, whatcha gonna do today?" (Say what?) Ya say, "I'm gonna get a fly girl, gonna get some spank and Drive off in a def OJ" Everybody go, "Ho-tel, mo-tel, Holiday Inn" Ya say if your girl starts actin' up, then you take her friends A like that, y'all, to the beat, y'all Beat beat y'all, ya don't stop! A Master Gee, my mellow It's on to you so whatcha gonna do? Well, like Johnny Carson on the Late Show A like Frankie Crocker in stereo Well like the Barkay's singin' "Holy Ghost" The sounds to throw down, they're played the most It's like my man Captain Sky Whose name he earned with his super sperm We rock and we don't stop Get off, y'all, I'm here to give you whatcha got To the beat that it makes you freak And come alive, girl, get on your feet A like a Perry Mason without a case Like Farrah Fawcett without her face Like the Barkays on the mic Like gettin' down right for you tonight Like movin' your body so you don't know how Right to the rhythm and throw down Like comin' alive to the Master Gee The brother who rocks so viciously I said the age of one, my life begun At the age of two I was doin' the do At the age of three, it was you and me Rockin' to the sounds of the Master Gee At the age of four, I was on the floor Givin' all the freaks what they bargained for At the age of five I didn't take no jive With the Master Gee it's all the way live At the age of six I was a-pickin' up sticks Rappin' to the beat, my stick was fixed At the age of seven, I was rockin' in heaven Don'tcha know I went off I gotta run on down to the beat you see Gettin' right on down, makin' all the girls Just take off their clothes to the beat the beat To the double beat beat that makes you freak At the age of eight, I was really great 'Cause every night, you see, I had a date At the age of nine, I was right on time 'Cause every night I had a party rhyme Going on'n'n'on'n' on on'n'on The beat don't stop until the break of dawn A sayin' on'n'n'on'n' on on'n'on Like a hot buttered de pop pop de popcorn...

Don't ask me What you know is true Don't have to tell you I love your precious heart I I was standing You were there Two worlds collided And they could never tear us apart We could live For a thousand years But if I hurt you I'd make wine from your tears I told you That we could fly 'Cause we all have wings But some of us don't know why I I was standing You were there Two worlds collided And they could never ever tear us apart

great song from NRPS self titled....debut release.... Closing time, I will meet you at the bar..... Everyone is trying to get to the bar. The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven. The band in Heaven plays my favorite song. They play it once again, they play it all night long. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. There is a party, everyone is there. Everyone will leave at exactly the same time. Its hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, and so much fun. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. When this kiss is over it will start again. It will not be any different, it will be exactly the same. It's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be so much fun. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.

It's just another day in paradise As you stumble to your bed You'd give anything to silence Those voices ringing in your head You thought you could find happiness Just over that green hill You thought you would be satisfied But you never will- Learn to be still We are like sheep without a shepherd We don't know how to be alone So we wander 'round this desert And wind up following the wrong gods home But the flock cries out for another And they keep answering that bell And one more starry-eyed messiah Meets a violent farewell- Learn to be still Learn to be still Now the flowers in your garden They don't smell so sweet Maybe you've forgotten The heaven lying at your feet [Solo] There are so many contridictions In all these messages we send (We keep asking) How do I get out of here Where do I fit in? Though the world is torn and shaken Even if your heart is breakin' It's waiting for you to awaken And someday you will- Learn to be still Learn to be still You just keep on runnin' Keep on runnin'

Mary had a little lamb.... The path is clear Though no eyes can see The course laid down long before. And so with gods and men The sheep remain inside their pen, Though many times they've seen the way to leave. He rides majestic Past homes of men Who care not or gaze with joy, To see reflected there The trees, the sky, the lily fair, The scene of death is lying just below. The mountain cuts off the town from view, Like a cancer growth is removed by skill. Let it be revealed. A waterfall, his madrigal. An inland sea, his symphony. Undinal songs Urge the sailors on Till lured by sirens' cry. Now as the river dissolves in sea, So Neptune has claimed another soul. And so with gods and men The sheep remain inside their pen, Until the Shepherd leads his flock away. The sands of time were eroded by The river of constant change. Happy Hump Day!!!!!

Under suburban skiesWhere life is bleeding Where concrete skies are gray There's plenty of room for dreaming I still keep coming here Follow those traces I travel back in time Remember all those places Feels like I never left The house's still standing Down by the river where The dreams are never ending You find me, you find me You find me by the river You find me, you find me You find me where the river flows Under the silent moon This industrial city Is heartland even though The life's been not that pretty I still keep coming here To that old river To find my roots just where The future lives forever You find me, you find me You find me by the river You find me, you find me You find me, you can find me By the river Where dreams will never die And by the river Under suburban skies And by the river Where dreams have never died By the river I look through children's eyes You find me, you find me You find me by the river You find me, you find me You find me where the river flows You find me, you find me You find me by the river You find me, you find me You find me where the river flows Where the river flows Where the river flows Where the river flows

What’s the matter with meI don’t have much to say Daylight sneakin’ through the window And I’m still in this all-night café Walkin’ to and fro beneath the moon Out to where the trucks are rollin’ slow To sit down on this bank of sand And watch the river flow Wish I was back in the city Instead of this old bank of sand With the sun beating down over the chimney tops And the one I love so close at hand If I had wings and I could fly I know where I would go But right now I’ll just sit here so contentedly And watch the river flow People disagreeing on all just about everything, yeah Makes you stop and all wonder why Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street Who just couldn’t help but cry Oh, this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow And as long as it does I’ll just sit here And watch the river flow People disagreeing everywhere you look Makes you wanna stop and read a book Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street That was really shook But this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow And as long as it does I’ll just sit here And watch the river flow Watch the river flow Watchin’ the river flow Watchin’ the river flow But I’ll sit down on this bank of sand And watch the river flow Read more: http://www.bobdylan.com/us/songs/watching-river-flow#ixzz3ntsZCYpq

There's a photo online of Christina Ricci as Morticia that looks amazing. It's knowing that your door is always open And your path is free to walk That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag Rolled up and stashed behind your couch And it's knowing I'm not shackled By forgotten words and bonds And the ink stains that are dried upon some line That keeps you in the backroads By the rivers of my memory That keeps you ever gentle on my mind It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy Planted on their columns now that bind me Or something that somebody said Because they thought we fit together walking It's just knowing that the world will not be cursing Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find That you're moving on the backroads By the rivers of my memory And for hours you're just gentle on my mind Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines And the junkyards and the highways come between us And some other woman's cryin' to her mother 'Cause she turned and I was gone I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face And the summer sun might burn me 'til I'm blind But not to where I cannot see You walkin' on the backroads By the rivers flowing gentle on my mind I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin' Cracklin' caldron in some train yard My beard a roughening coal pile, And a dirty hat pulled low across my face Through cupped hands 'round the tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find That you're waiting from the backroads By the rivers of my memories Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind

what do a squirrel and Sonny Bono have in common? Both buried their nuts in a tree..... Bad joke.... Walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your mind roll on Walk right in, sit right down, honey let your hair hang down Walk right in, sit right down, honey let your hair hang down Everybody's talking 'bout a new way of walking Do you want to lose your mind? Walk right in, sit right down, honey let your hair hang down Walk right in, sit right down, baby let your hair hang down Walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your mind roll on Walk right in, sit right down, baby let your hair hang down Had to edit the lyrics, dead.net gestapo is still alive and well....

With all this Addams family talk and in honor of my upcoming favorite holiday, lets start some spooky songs! I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder Waiting for an invitation to arrive Goin' to a party where no one's still alive I was struck by lightning Walkin' down the street I was hit by something last night in my sleep It's a dead man's party Who could ask for more? Everybody's comin'; leave your body at the door Leave your body and soul at the door... (Don't run away; it's only me) All dressed up with nowhere to go Walkin' with a dead man Waitin' for an invitation to arrive Walkin' with a dead man...Dead man... Got my best suit and my tie Shiny silver dollar on either eye I hear the chauffer comin' to the door Says there's room for maybe just one more... I was struck by lightning Walkin' down the street I was hit by something last night in my sleep It's a dead man's party Who could ask for more? Everybody's comin'; leave your body at the door Leave your body and soul at the door... Don't run away; it's only me Don't be afraid of what you can't see Don't run away; it's only me....

ooooooohhhhh I'm scared, I'm scared...... Back in the day, created a cassette of spooky/corny Halloween music....turned off porch lights, lit our carved pumpkins.....blasted music and answered door in a badass evil mask.....was a very generous treat giver..... This song was on the tape.... Well, I ain't evil, I'm just good lookin' Start a little fire, and baby start cookin' I'm a hungry man But I don't want pizza I'll blow down your house And then I'm gonna eat ya Bring you to a simmer Right on time Run my greasy fingers Up your greasy spine Feed my Frankenstein Meet my libido He's a psycho Feed my Frankenstein Hungry for love And it's feeding time You don't want to talk So baby shut up And let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup Velcro candy, sticky sweet Make my tattoos melt in the heat Well, I ain't no veggie Like my flesh on the bone Alive and lickin' on your ice cream cone after rereading the lyrics, I ask myself what in hell was I thinking? ohh to be young and stupid..... better than being old and stupid I guess.....

the kids musta loved your house! I aint no veggie... All they heard was Frankenstein. but what's a fur tea cup? Don't sing me lullabies I won't close my eyes, I can't close my eyes It's true, I'm doomed 'til dawn shines through Got too many things to do Got friends to see, I can't miss a thing It's true, I'm through I'm screwed, unglued I won't close my eyes, I can't close my eyes, I never close my eyes You see, they're always there with funny hair, Oh, I'm so scared It happens to me every night Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me They always want to take a bite Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me And if you think this isn't real I'll show you wounds that never heal To them I'm just a happy meal Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me Make the coffee black as night Help me through the night I know their appetite for me I'm meat but I'm sweet as can be And if I do too much booze I begin to snooze I hear the big old floppy shoes It's true, I'm stew, unchewed I won't close my eyes, I can't close my eyes, I never close my eyes See, they're always there with that funny hair, Oh, I'm so scared It happens to me every night Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me They always want to take a bite Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me And if you think this isn't real I'll show you wounds that never heal To them I'm just a happy meal Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me

Isn't it rich? Are we a pair? Me here at last on the ground, You in mid-air. Send in the clowns. Isn't it bliss? Don't you approve? One who keeps tearing around, One who can't move. Where are the clowns? Send in the clowns. Just when I'd stopped Opening doors, Finally knowing The one that I wanted was yours, Making my entrance again With my usual flair, Sure of my lines, No one is there. Don't you love farce? My fault, I fear. I thought that you'd want what I want - Sorry, my dear. But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don't bother, they're here. Isn't it rich? Isn't it queer? Losing my timing this late In my career? And where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns. Well, maybe next year

of the truck that ran over me? Man it's been a rough day! I got designated driver tonight So I thought that I might get drunk I told Jimmy that he could decide what I'm drinkin' Cause I didn't care what Summer party back in the woods About seven hundred people there I said I'd hit the karaoke machine And sang Garth in my underwear [Chorus] And I can blame it on the Wild Turkey For the cussing and the gettin' loud I was surprised some ole boys didn't jump me Because they say that I was showin' out I'd like to thank everyone that didn't call the law To come and drag me in Last night you saw me drankin' Wild Turkey But you'll never see me drink it again [Verse 1] Well they say that I was tryin' every girl that was hot Said I was hangin' up all up on them, if they were married or not Well my jaw was kinda hurtin' in the morning light Yep, I think it got slapped a couple dozen times Eleven twenty and ole Jimmy left an hour ago I'm purdy sure that he's the one who's gonna to carry me home Well my guts is feeling funny so I found me a spot I started calling dinosaurs right between two cars Well, played it off nice, I told them I was mentally ill But when they smelt my breath they knew what it was I had to elude 'em through a cotton field [Chorus] And I can blame it on the Wild Turkey For the cussing and the gettin' loud I was surprised some ole boys didn't jump me Because they say that I was showin' out I'd like to thank everyone that didn't call the law To come and drag me in Last night you saw me drankin' Wild Turkey But you'll never see me drink it again [Verse 2] Them turkey suds got me drunk I hit the ditch and rolled my truck I borrowed a car got it stuck Over the fenders up in mud A seventy six Pontiac I hope my friend don't want it back But if he does he'll probably cuss And try to fight and all that stuff Early morning waking up my breath stanking' feeling rough If you gonna be dumb you gotta be tough I had a good dinner but throwed it up Gettin' drunk a hour later Shot in the chest with a taser The cop said I hit my head Front page on the county paper [Chorus] And I can blame it on the Wild Turkey For the cussing and the gettin' loud I was surprised some ole boys didn't jump me Because they say that I was showin' out I'd like to thank everyone that didn't call the law To come and drag me in Last night you saw me drankin' Wild Turkey But you'll never see me drink it again

Holy Hell... Fifteen men on a dead man's chest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Drink and the devil be done for the rest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum The mate was fixed by the bos'n's pike The bos'n' brained with a markin spike And Cookey's throat was marked belike It had been gripped by fingers ten And there they lay all good dead men Like break o' day in a boozing ken Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum Fifteen men of a whole ship's list Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist! Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum The skipper lay with his nob in gore Where the scullion's axe his cheek had shore And the scullion he was stabbed times four And there he lay and the soggy skies Dripped all day in up-staring eyes At murk sunset and at foul sur-prise Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Fifteen men of ‘em stiff and stark Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Ten of the crew had the murder mark Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum ‘Twas a cutlass swipe or and ounce of lead Or a yawning hole in a battered head and the scuppers glut with a yawning red And there they lay aye damn my eyes All lookouts clapped on par - a - dise All souls bound just con – tra – ri - wise Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Fifteen men of ‘em good and true Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Every man Jack could ha' sailed with old Pew Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum There was chest on chest of Spanish gold With a ton of plate in the middle hold And the cabins riot with stuff un told As they lay there that had took the plum With a sightless glare and their lips struck dumb While we shared all by the rule of thumb Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Fifteen men of a dead man's chest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Drink and the devil had done for the rest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum We wrapped ‘em all in a mains'l tight With twice ten turns of a hausers bight And we heaved ‘em over and out of sight With a yo heave ho and fare you well And a sullen plunge in a sullen swell Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum I've almost made it through the workday...shouldn't have had that last drink. Captain Jack Sparrow was at Larry Flint's last night...weird
