Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1982 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is from 2/23/70 in Austin, TX, where we have this interesting sequence of music, from the time when the Grateful Dead were slipping effortlessly between acoustic and electric music: Me And My Uncle, Black Peter, Seasons Of My Heart > Uncle John's Band , Not Fade Away> Mason's Children.
Next is the start of the second set from 8/8/82 at Alpine Valley, the second night of a two night run, featuring Far From Me, Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain. That's a rare Far From Me second set opener.
Lastly this week is one of the most interesting second set sequences I ever saw, from 8/4/89, featuring Truckin'>Wang Dang Doodle>Crazy Fingers>Cumberland Blues>Eyes Of The World. This was my first Cal Expo show, and I remember the audience surprise when they opened the second set with Truckin', and followed that with a powerful Wang Dang Doodle, and later played a somewhat rare second set Cumberland. Good stuff.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
