I was there and it was a sweet show, the drums/space right before this was quite good also, too bad we didn't get that. Have not heard this show in a long time, so it's time to crank this one up. I remember all the streets were closed around the bayfront center, which was right on the bay. The deadheads took over the streets all around the place, vending and camping and Happy Birthday Bobby signs everywhere.

My First show, saw JGB at Good Skates Roller Rink on LI in August and thought if he is that good with his side band then what was a Dead show going to be like. With 5 friends we drove up to Syracuse and ran out of gas on the way, some farmer gave us one of his five gallon gas cans to fill up and we threw them back on his front lawn as we drove by and he waved. A Saturday show without a Saturday Nite, Second set at this one set the hook and in 85 they would reel me in for another 100 plus nights. Thanks for the Memories.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1972, and a double dose of 80s Dead, from 1984 and 1988.

Our first stop this week is on 10/17/72 in St. Louis, at the beautiful Fox Theatre, where the Dead were opening a terrific three night run of shows with this big batch of much from the first set: The Promised Land ; Bird Song ; El Paso ; Sugaree ; Me And My Uncle ; Tennessee Jed ; Big River ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Black Throated Wind ; Deal.

From 12 years later on 10/20/84, we have music from Syracuse, NY, featuring the start of the second set: Shakedown Street > Samson And Delilah ; He's Gone > Smokestack Lightnin' > Jam. And audience tape of this show was one of the first live Grateful Dead tapes I ever received, in late 1984, and I know every single note of this fine show.

Lastly this week is music from Bob’s birthday show on 10/16/88 in St. Petersburg, FL, where we have the end of the show, featuring The Wheel > Gimme Some Lovin' > All Along The Watchtower > Morning Dew, Quinn the Eskimo.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
