Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1979 and 1981.
Our first stop this week is the Dead’s opening night at the Felt Forum on 12/4/71. After the Fillmore East closed earlier in the year, Bill Graham had no New York venue, but put on shows around town, including at the Felt Forum. From this excellent show we have the start of the concert: Truckin' ; Sugaree ; Mr. Charlie ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Tennessee Jed ; Jack Straw ; Run Rudolph Run.
Next, from eight years later on 12/5/79 in Chicago, we have this excellent second set opening sequence: Shakedown Street ; Samson And Delilah ; Ship Of Fools ; He's Gone > The Other One.
Lastly this week, from the Dead’s first show at the Rosemont Horizon on 12/6/81, we have the end of the show: Space>Not Fade Away>Wharf Rat>Good Lovin', Brokedown Palace.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
