    Hartford 88
The Hampton run that tour was enjoyable, the first two nights of the Meadowlands prompted me to sell my ticket to the third. My friends convinced me to try the first night at Hartford and it was the night Jerry's voice gave out. I sold my tix to the the other two nights at Hartford, moved to SF 3 months later and never saw the Dead on the East Coast again. I made the right choice. This clip does not impress (but I am glad to hear it).

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, as we roll toward the end of 2016, with plenty of great things planned in the Grateful Dead world for 2017.

ZOur first stop this week is on 4/3/70 in Cincinnati, where we have this eclectic batch of electric and acoustic Dead music: Hard To Handle, Dancing In The Street ,Me And My Uncle, Friend Of The Devil, Deep Elem Blues, Candyman.

Next is the entire first set of the 3/31/86 show in Providence, RI, a venue at which the Dead would only play one more run of shows after this one, in September 1987. From Providence 86, we have Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo ; (I'm A) Road Runner > West L.A. Fadeaway ; My Brother Esau ; Ramble On Rose ; Desolation Row ; Might As Well.

Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 4/4/88 in Hartford, CT, where we have Touch Of Grey> Looks Like Rain > Truckin' > He's Gone. Jerry had lost his voice the previous night, which you can still hear here, and Bob makes a funny crack on response to a newspaper review of the first show that morning, in which the writer was disappointed the Dead hadn’t played their 1987 hit single.

Be sure to join is next week with more music from the vault.
