    something a little different

Monday night at the Opera House, saw/heard new trio Bela Fleck, Antonio Sanchez and Edmar Casteneda. Outstanding mash up of banjo, drums and harp. Sanchez is incredible powerhouse locomotive drummer, very intriguing combo of lush harp, lyrical banjo. Edmar was the surprise. There's a cut up on utube, Archipelago, check it out. House concert tomorrow night, jazz quartet featuring music of Jimmy Heath.

50th anniversary Dee-Luxe edition, I'm on disc 2, I like the alternate versions... maybe better.

I still have 54 on in the car, and I'll probably keep going with that.
All this '77 talk got me thinking about 5/22, the Miller though, ya know ?

    How's Dave's number 3? :)

find a music apps for this feeling

Currently vibing to Arctic Monkeys on a loop - perfect background while I work. I’m using a lesser-known app I found through Heyapks that actually gives access to a bunch of premium music apps without all the subscription clutter. Surprisingly smooth!

It's an interesting angle, especially for users hunting for alternative music platforms. While mainstream apps like Spotify and Apple Music dominate, platforms found via third-party sources like Heyapks can introduce lesser-known tools with different libraries or features. Of course, users should stay mindful of app legitimacy and security when downloading outside traditional app stores. Overall, it's good to see more variety in how people engage with music right now.

    10/21/71 - Auditorium Theatre, Chicago

partial show Disc 3 from DaP 3

never saw the Dead play the Auditorium but did see last 6 songs or so when Garcia & Kahn played 7/1/82 - encore Reuben & Cherise. Not sure if there are decent SBD tapes from that short tour but oh boy for sure they really should release something if there are.

edit - had not realized that Garcia and Kahn played Sing Me Back Home at a couple of shows on that acoustic tour [not Chicago however] - also Garcia and Kahn played it several times earlier in '82, Jerry broke it out in a solo acoustic show in April. Garcia hadn't played it since '73 with the GD and it never returned after G & K 7/2/82 in Boulder. total 7 times acoustic in '82.
