Crow, how do you keep nailing seats up front for TTB?? Glad to hear you made another stop on the tour. The "other" t-shirt Derek might smile at is one he wears: Jr Wells' Hoodoo Man Blues. Sorry to hear about confiscation. I always wear a small Crown Royale bag that strings to my plastic belt and hangs, uh, you know where -- two shooters and the goods. Takin' no chances.... Now, have you heard? TTB gonna do THREE nights at RR next year. Oy! My last three nighter was the end of my "career": 1987 RR x 3, then Telluride x 2 a couple days later. I admit it, after that I hung it up. Just had had enough of the scene and I'd just turned 30 after 15 hard years with the band. In school in Evanston in 1991, I did score literally the last two seats, center, in the last row of the nosebleed at Soldier Field. Then '92 I was "working" in VT raising females you might say, so we traipsed over to Albany for two in June; first night, very tepid, second night, pretty decent. But it was over for me by the mid-80s. Of course, I'm a tape fiend for late '67 to '79, even '80-'81.
Side note: never another festival of any kind after the Glen in '73. When caught in a contradiction, I typically say "I can explain!" Looking back, however, it's a distant memory as to my feelings and motivations in my late 20s, early 30s. And probably just as well.
Oh yeah, just listened to Jorma on Relix from an '84 performance. Kinda rowdy show.

Same true for another lake but I don't remember its name. 20,000 residents evacuated from Summerland area. Vancouver has had smoke but not too bad. The local town they evacuated to does not have necessary infrastructure for so many. We need rain and badly. Think I will listen to 11/11/73 now.

Joined:Bend Ore, SonThis is a public service announcement: If you go to see TTB at Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend Oregon hide yer weed where the sun don't shine before you go in. I had mine in my front pocket, which the security goons on site demanded me to empty after I went through the goddam metal detector. At which point they informed me they would be confiscating the unopened preroll of Maui Wowie. Yes. They took my weed! They. Took. My. Weed. I mean, what fucking decade is this?
I tried reasoning with them, but it was unclear whether these troglodytes understood the King's English. This is a legal product that I am perfectly within my rights to possess here in yr lovely state, I explained. Calmly. Didn't matter. They. Took. My. Weed.
So my buddy and wandered around looking for someone who might take pity on our plight and maybe barter us a doobie. We got a lot of sympathy, but no joints. A surprising number of people offered gummies (maybe that's what people do in that venue, cause of the goon squads?), but alas, edibles and me don't get along that well.
Anyway. Y'all be more careful than I was, OK? If I had stuffed the stuff down in my junk like we did back in the day, I'm sure I coulda brought it in. And it sure woulda been a lot cooler.
TTB? They were fucking great, as usual. I had primo seats right up front, and I'm pretty sure Derek smiled at me during Keep on Growing (you can see him give that rare smile on the streaming video that's on you know what tube). Probably thinking, who is that gray headed goofball dancing down front in the ABB tee?Oh, almost forgot: what I am listening to right now is Van Morrison Live at the Grand Opera House Belfast. Van the Man in fine form circa 1983.
