Really like this, hadn't heard the soundboard. Great stuff. Thank you. Surprising how clear Phil is.

    Not an acoustic piano?
Is Keith playing the organ on this 4-29-77 selection? How often did he do this?

    Palladium run..
...I know I am an outlier on this, but for me the best show/jam of this whole tour is the Playing >Comes a Time > Playing from May 4. The number of ways Comes a Time is gestured at in the Playing Jam, Jerry's melodically and harmonically "right" improvisations, the way Phil used the acoustics of the hall in firing chords (heard better on the audience tapes--you hadda be there!), is magical.

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1977, and a double dose of the first half of the 1980s, from 1981 and 1984.

Our first selection is from the first night of a five night run at the Palladium in New York City on 4/29/77, where we have the start of the second set, featuring a few usually first set songs: Samson And Delilah ; Sugaree > El Paso ; Brown Eyed Women.

Next is the start of the second set from 5/1/81 in Hampton, VA, where the Dead always seemed to play extremely good, inspired shows: Feel Like A Stranger > Franklin's Tower > Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance.

Lastly this week, from 4/27/84 in Providence, RI, we have the end of the show, featuring Space > The Wheel > Wharf Rat > Around And Around > Johnny B. Goode, Touch Of Grey.

Thanks for stopping by, and we’ll look forward to seeing you here next week for more music from the vault here at the Tapers’ Section.

Both shows are hidden gems. Would have been a great Road Trips release. Or maybe a DaP for 4/26 with a bunch of killer Philler from 4/27
