Hope all around these parts are doing well. Wanted to let you know that there is a John Mayer interview this morning on CBS' (Good) Sunday Morning show.which airs at 9am Eastern, not sure how Mountain and West coast times are calculated.

Birchwood - I met a head here that lives pretty close to me. We have been talking on weekends the last 2 years. We were just discussing yesterday for the second time shows that get "put down" by many heads because Jerry was so out there. The don't like the vocal flubs and raspy voice. We were specifically discussing Dave's 35 and I brought up Ventura 1984 as well. I remember a post here years back where someone was upset and stated something like "Jerry was so out there that he was leaning on a microphone stand to help keep up." Not to disparage, but there is no way a microphone stand could support Jer in any what way. My opinion Jer was lose to the mic to make sure what words he was singing were not getting any feedback from the PA. Kind of like they had the two mics for the wall of sound. The second was phased arrayed, not sure correct term, but not going to look it up at this moment. Reguardlless, the vocals may have weaker but Jer's playing was awesome.

Finally, been super bummed out over Bobby's death. Even though he was older than me, I knew Bob would out live me. Condolences to his family. But with Bobby, Donna, and now Country Joe's passing, just has me marking time as it were. I hope to post more later today.

Again, thanks to Dead.net and all of you that post on these boards. Always a lot to absorb.

    Peace,

    G

I was able to sit down for a nice focused listen of 3/14/90 Capital Centre. It's been awhile since i've broke the Spring 1990 box sets. This tour opener, as DL points out in his notes, is really special. The Crazy Fingers to open the second set immediately sets the tone for a psychedelic ride only the GD can provide...all this after a fantastic first set that closes with a killer Let It Grow!

Today will feature my most of the time favorite Spring 1990 show, 3/15/90...Phil's 50th birthday...and oh boy, do they bring the thunder for Phil

    Happy Birthday, Reddy Kilowatt!!

Always a rare treat to see anyone else listening to this show. Still my favorite Stella Blue of all time. The transition *into* NFA is a thing of beauty, too. (edit: this show is only available as an AUD, and with all the boards that circulate from this year - and given that this show is the only appearance in Jackson, not a location known for its massive fanbase - this show is largely invisible to most folks, which is a shame)

Very nice show. Nice Playing>UJB>Playing sandwich and great show overall.

About time for news on that Ark box I imagine. Will see soon enough……

Always a Pogues fan. Shane MacGowan would really chug those pints the audience handed him at Toads Place in 86. Irish Rugby team were there encouraging him and slam dancing like madmen. Good times!

In retrospect maybe he could have taken things a bit easier. Ah fame is a bitch as we know from our patron Saint of the beloved GOGD.
