The practice is still done today, although it can be sped up with robotics.

    Bicycle Day (4-19-1943)

In Switzerland on 4-19 they commemorate Albert Hofmann's ride home from the lab on his bicycle after ingesting 0.25 milligrams of his discovery. He had accidently tripped earlier that month through skin contact and thought he should investigate further.
    Commemorate responsibly, lol.
On a side note a college student has sequenced the genome of the ergot Hofmann was looking for after accidently finding some white fuzz on some Morning Glory seed coats. This has potential for discovering some new wonder drugs. One of Hofmann's finds is still used today to stop hemorrhaging after childbirth.
Cheers and happy bicycle day tomorrow.
Currently listening to some mighty fine '72 on the Taper's

Recently Garbarek's In Praise of Dreams... entering a short period of several live concerts but this morning, listening to Justin Johnson, new find. This because Dartmouth free screening Sinners later today with special guests including grandson of Robert Johnson, Steven L. Johnson who will play. Searching on him brought me to Justin, outrageously talented blues guitarist... Just saw Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats, tonight Jake Shimabukuro, tomorrow Garnet Rogers, then Tyshawn Sorey Trio, 4/20 a bar duo with Zach Nugent, Bela Flecks BeaTrio Wednesday.

I would say that some of my cds sound better than records and that sometimes the records sound better than cds. Especially records I bought in the early 70's. And some of these new L.P.s that have come out over the last 10 years or so sound amazing.
What L.P.s and singles have over cds is mojo. Apart from some box sets, cds have never had the magic of vinyl. Of course, there are those who say that mojo or magic doesn't exist. Which is fair enough !
I am not remotely interested in this Play Dead download option that is being advertised.
