Well, i would pretty much buy any DVD of the Grateful Dead in concert live, even if it wasn't a complete show and / or a compilation -- that said, i would certainly hope for complete shows. Rhino, get them elephant ears up and please listen to the heads, WE WANT DVDs, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! pretty please with sugar on top! I'm gonna make a prediction that they will release the recent The Dead show with the fire dancers in the not too distant future. I am not sure if that was the only venue that had screens, but the shows we was at didn't have screens and i didn't see no cameras. a couple of those shows we was right down in the third row, KIND miracles from an old friend who got those cool seats at a bit more than cost through the Rex auctions!! he just sent me a very cool, signed by all members of the band, poster which was included in that charity tix package!!! oh, and Rhino and / or dead promoters, next time there is a tour, DO THE CHARITY AUCTION FIRST!! then the people with deep pockects will help the charity rather than the asshole scalpers or the consideritDung vip thing.

My vote would have to be July 7, 1989.... JFK Stadium..... Philadlephia Pa. The reasons for this pick are many. First and foremost, this tour was simply put, one of thier best. Another one would have to be the Scarlet>Fire and Blow away are arguably the best career versions of these songs... This is debated on many boards, and I would tend to agree with those that say so. Listen to the streams at ARCHIVE if you never heard them. The number of people who showed up at this show is another reason it should be released. Municipal Stadium aka JFK Stadium was built to seat over 100,000 for a football game. On this date I heard that there was over 90,000 people in attendance and another 15,000 who , for whatever reason; didn't come in.... which surprises me since tickets were still being sold at the door when the first notes started playing. If these numbers are true, then this show might be the Band's most attended single act show in history... If someone knows of a bigger show please let me know.... Englishtown NJ might be the only other example. A Grateful Dead concert was also the last event ever to be held here. This is the show that almost wasn't. City officails were playing around with cancelling this show on the day of performance. Could you imagine what would have happened with 100,000+ deadheads being told there is no show at the last minute. Luckily the city father's took this into consideration and allowed the show to go on. For those who don't know, JFK was literally falling down. As the band played that night, a fine mist of cement was falling from the cement steps down onto the concourse below. Although the Rolling Stones would do some sound checks there later in the week, the venue was officially closed before thier show. Sadly this left Philly with nowhere for the Band to play summer tour anymore (The Grateful Dead refused to play The Vet... for obvious reasons).... Just imagine if JFK could have lasted just one more year for the epic 90 summer tour. As someone who attended both JFK shows, the other in 87.... A DVD of this show would be appreciated because if you were unlucky enough to sit on the risers, you really didn't get a good sound. I have heard the field was alot better. After listening to the soundboard of this show I think I believe those who say that. While so many of the summer tour 89-90 shows have already been released, I'm sure there are those who say "enough from this era".... And I might agree.... But this is a show that should have been released early on.... If only for the good playing and the historical aspects.

I'd vote for DVD releases of any show from the summer of '89. 7/7 is probably at the top of the list. Downhill From Here is a great release, but the performances the next two nights are just as good. How about a release of the whole Alpine run -- leave all the shows intact and that could be the "excuse" for re-releasing 7/17 as part of a 3-show box.

Continuing the View from the Vault Series / MORE CONCERT VIDEO
What happened ? They were coming out consistently and then stopped. Were rumors of a release of some footage with Pigpen and although Festival Express was awesome, I was looking more further into a sole Grateful Dead concert release. I also have the collection of all the others as Downhill, Truckin, Dawg, Winterland, etc.. Also releases of crowd compilations as End of the Road and Tie Dyed. I've read other peoples comments concerning all the footage on the back screens of shows that included lot scenes and indoor video circulating amongst the crowd during the show I would imagine there could be some great compilations made realistic. Where are they ? I was at the Terrapin Family Reunion at Alpine Valley and was awed by the display of collections from and of the Vault. All that tape and film dilated my pupils, we are all patiently awaiting... I'm sure all these people that make these sorts happen are all very busy, I would just like to take an opportunity to thank them for all their doings on some very special releases past, present and about to come and let them know that we for sure are looking forward to some more. Keep up the good work keep it coming ! Would especially like to see something in a more High Definition source of audio/ video format (7.1 & 1080p) such as on Blue Ray Disc. Well Hey Now enough rambling, God Bless... One Love ! Looking forward :) peace.

You're sitting on a goldmine of extraordinary 70's footage of the Dead at their peak. Full shows, professionally shot. Durham, NC 1978, Passaic, NJ 77 & 78, Copenhagen, Denmark 72... The list goes on and on. Not to mention the full shows shot on 16mm with multitrack audio recordings filmed for the Grateful Dead movie which should be released in their entirety; either one show at a time or a box set of the full run on DVD/Blu-ray. I don't know any Deadhead who would not salivate wildly to own these full shows. Especially in the best available quality with a great sound mix. This would make Rhino incredibly popular, bring in tons of money and bring wide smiles to most everyone in the DeadHead community. It's a win-win. Thanks, Hal

Sunshine Daydream (obviously) and of course that guy on the pole is not naked; shirtless yes, naked no. Bundled with the CD's of the whole show. So Far Backstage Pass All GD Videos. Is there even a place to get an officially released DVD version of Touch of Grey? I know it's on Dead Ringers-The Making of the Touch of Grey Video And More. If not...typical GD. Their biggest hit and video and you can't even buy it if you want it. What about Little Light and Foolish Heart? Am I missing any other official videos? Just saw Hell In A Bucket on the Deluxe Scrapbook bonus DVD (which was great...thanks!) A little pricey but well worth it. Likewise, I wouldn't want to buy the scrapbook without the DVD (although it's very well written and presented). But anyway... How much usable GD outtakes are there from Festival Express? Playboy After Dark would make a nice bonus on a DVD as filler. I could go on and on about live 70's and 80's pro shot stuff. Again, the 12/27/83 Scarlet>Fire on the Scrapbook bonus disc was Great! More of that would be super.

Well, I posted this in the wrong thread - so apologies for the re-post: Is any of the video vault shot in HD or suitable for conversion to HD/Blu-Ray? I'm watching Ticket to New Year's now as I normally do this time of year, and as with some of the other DVD's it is pretty blurry when not displaying close-up shots (especially on an HD TV). I would probably upgrade to Blu-Ray on the DVD's I have and would be interested in new Blu-Ray releases more so than new DVD releases. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * -enjoyin' the ride -There'll never be another Jerry

You go to the store and click on DVD and all that's listed is the last days of the fillmore. No view from the vault, truckin' off to buffalo, GD movie, NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!! What's up there !!?!?! If all the DVD's are getting the once over and re-released I hope they re-release "A Ticket To Noew Years" with "The Promised Land" back in there. Why did they ever cut it out in the first place. And what about all the fun stuff for the pay-per-view audience that night? "Ask The Band" MR. Spock mind melding with santa clause ("Drum Solo Almost Over ") all the interviews. Black Muddy River was only released on "In the Dark"?? I can't find a live recording of it.Such a staple for many years, an encore I always looked forward to. I would love to obtain a live digital recording. My favorite song! I performed it around the campfire at the camp I worked at in Upstate NY the weekend after Jerry died. Many of the campers joined in singing ...Roll Muddy River... mim

This was really the last of the old time new years shows, the Oakland auditorium, 4 sets, and an out of nowhere Dark Star. I do remember video screens and cameras that night. The playing throughout the night is unbelievable, check the tapes. The Joan Baez stuff is not the best but Jerry is there! Sunshine Daydream I saw Denis McNally talk at an event for his book several years ago and he said that Sunshine Daydream had just been remastered for release and that the sound problems that hurt the original tapes were corrected digitally. What Happened? There should be a box set with the entire Winterland 74 run - EVERYTHING shot for the movie should be on my shelf!

None of us are getting older. It seems to me there's so much stuff to choose from, I don't understand why it takes so long to get the next DVD out. I love playing these DVDs with my kids and dancing around the living room. But there's so little in video that's been released and I know there's a ton out there. At this point I'll take a cup of cold coffee or a blue sun or a three piece band on the corner playing nearer my God to thee......

An official DVD of Aug 27, 1972 would sell like dime beers. WTF? It's the same lack of logic on GD management's part that has kept so many requested, good quality recordings and videos inside the vault instead of in the hands of Dead Head consumers. Bootleg recordings (even Cornell '77 for example) fail in comparison to what a high quality official release would sound (and look) like. Choosy mothers choose to buy good, quality recordings of the Dead even if they already own a good bootleg or an old official VHS of the same show.

Jerry was in pretty bad shape at that time, for example Cal-Expo '94 was just plain awful. I guess it was too hot for him at that time, somewhere around 100F as I recall, and his playing suffered. It was so sad to see him that way. RIP Jerry, and thank you for all you gave us.

I have longed for a Blu-Ray or DVD version of "So Far." In my experience it's the only film made that captures the time distortion and texture of an actual psychedelic experience -- and does so convincingly even for unimpaired minds. Now that's a good trick and it deserves archival preservation for future generations. Besides that, the footage is beautiful, imaginative, and trippy and the music can't be beat. I think this masterpiece deserves a major revival since it could easily be the highest quality project with which the Dead have ever been associated. Azulstar

Just release anything!!!! We will buy whatever you put out there!!!!! More of winterland 74, or how about veneta 72, or any europe 72 you have (you can tie it in with the big box set music release), or make it easy on yourselves, put So Far on dvd, or how about any of the shows from the 90's you have on video in the vault that were up on the big screens? Brent's last show? Any of the new years eve shows that were broadcast on pay-per-view cable tv (which seems to be most of the 80's? Halloween 1980? Summer Solstice 89? The final show? Anything!!! To save on money for yourselves, how about just releasing it on this website as a purchase for download, kind of like iTunes or your digital download series. Then you don't have to cover the cost of dvd booklets and cases. Or at least put some up for us to stream from the site to see!

Please release "Sunshine Daydream"! I'm sure the folks at Rhino as well as the band members themselves realize that this show is THE one that more people want to see officially released, in theaters and on DVD, than any other. There is tons of pro-shot footage of the whole show from at least 4 different angles, there are soundboard recordings, film crew audio recordings, nothing is missing to make this a reality except for somebody's permission. I would love to see a no-bullshit real explanation as to why this has not happened yet. Everybody has theories and there are little bits of "Bob said this or that" floating all around but I have never seen the issue addressed head-on. And we all know this wasn't just "a show". This was a historic cultural event, fully documented, kept under lock and key. And all the while the filmstock slowly succumbs to the chemical vagaries of time. A damn shame, a real damn shame.

However, We're not getting any younger and there is so much music already out there on CD. Can't you focus on getting some big runs of shows on Blu Ray?
