Can anyone help me understand how all these acts can play on one night? 2 songs each? Is there only one stage?starts at 7 pm, so it isn't an all day festival type deal... confused... can anyone help me understand this?

It's not a concert per se, rather a live venue to record a concert...ala Love for Levon or Greg Allman All of my friends, it will be dynamite but premeditated....I took the better half to the CMAs in 2013.... Very memorable, but canned performances.....I'm sure it will be a hoot for those who chose to partake.

Wow, after being totally humiliated through every meticulous rule change and shifting stage locations and confusing prices just to buy tickets from the band and TM for the "The Dead-Chicago" Since getting a "SYSTEM ERROR" message after capturing Two 3day tix and successfully getting past the shipping choice waiting to pay for my cart, the final progress bar spinning then pause then spin then pause then tossed aside and denied. A 45 min experience from joy to disgust. completely resigned myself from conversation about Chicago and think in-the-round is for mono (The Bear would not approve). This was a life preserver tossed to those of us 2-300 show vets, tapers, stage hands, who got denied. Let me tell you a paragraph or two about Jerryweather Post Pavilion. The roof that covers more than half the seats is made of wood. Wood is Good for sound. There are no concrete side- walls obstructing sound so it just flows out into the concessions. When Jerry Garcia Band played September 1st and 2nd 1989 I only had my standard heavy duty mic stand with umbrella. It was a farce getting that in. A toss over the fence to Red and I stealth-mode got the sony and cables and decoy tapes. (Just in case). We set up on the grass just right of the soundboard. My Nackamich 300’s attracted some attention from another stealth taper who left a deck with me so he had “Up-Front” with hat-mics and my crushing sound from the hill. I had some pretty big guys in our Dew Crew. It was easy to set-up and then lower the microphones until I got the tap on my shoulder that Jerry put his camel cigarette dow and turned around and was ready to start. These were our best sounding JGB shows to date that we could reproduce from metal tapes. When “Pure Jerry” released our shows in a 4 cd package I thought Karma is at work, keep it up. Since '89 1 spent 15 years living in Atlanta where I learned to love most of the bands listed and have lot’s of friends in Atlanta that I hope will be there. (They Panic) I am so grateful. Cub

starts at 7? Add two and two together, this will be the all time best jam of the century, all these artists together to play Jerry Music. This will be THE concert to be at, not that other one. The line up is spectacular, I predict it will be the core four playing with all these special guests, there will be two stages with the new jam bands playing there and the core 4 and Bruce playing on the main stage. This will be fantastic.

First to mkav, I looked into tix prices & I(if I go) hope to get lawn, cause prices are $70-500. Not even sure I want to go,although much more appealing to me than Chicago. First,I thought more like you did, with the boys being the band & guests sitting in, then I figured it's probably more like others posted ;ala Love for Levon, Allman, Dylan's30th. Just a bunch of artist played one song of GD related material, & if we're lucky the boys will play 2-3 songs together for encore. Also saw in Rolling Stone, that Don Was was band leader? So whatever that refers to. Even only 2 1/2 hr ride,(back & forth in a day) I' m not sold on going, have to make my mind up quick, got 5 days( If I'm one of the lucky ones, cause the fires already been set). I'm still not sure there won't be more celebrations added, it's only been 1 week since the big sell-out of Soldiers Field & wala another show, to sell out & another & another & so forth??? NYC & SF don't give up hope yet.

Pricing was initially released in their press release as $69.95 - $500. I called and the $500 tickets are VIP tickets. Not sure whats in the VIP package. Lawns are $70. And inside the shed is $200. Seems fairly priced to me. All complainers please stay home.

Yeah , I just poked around & found the pricing as others have solidified, & much more reasonable for a more intimate venue( wonderful outdoor shed)lucky to have seen the GD there4x & Jerry & Bob.The rain show in 83 was one for the books, with the power kicking off 2xs during the show(crazy lighting bolts-luckily I found my way into a seat in the pavilion before the downpour). Probably won't be the GD up there but very interesting performers doing songs we've grown to love. I expect the tix to go fast, as with all the hype surrounding these final shows, anything that features all the members present is going to draw attention. They knew exactly what they were doing , announce the Finale first ,get everyone excited, and sell-out everything leading up to or added before the Big Bang. More power to them!!! They should get a huge payoff, they paid their dues, years & years of being on the road entertaining us, remember it wasn't till the end that they really started to make big $ that some of the other top RnR bands made for years. Face it you can only do this( anything) for so long, & time has taken it's toll on them , simple fact is old age is upon them & it's time to relax & enjoy. You control your own destiny , if you feel like experiencing it , do it , if not ,no problem, but bitching about how it's not right & how they fucked the whole deadhead universe.I'm tired of hearing about what Jerry would think also, Jerry would take every penny & blow it on his addiction. It's funny ,we thought Jerry was ripping us off back in the 80's w/ JGB playing 2 shows a night @ a whopping $15 a show (6 or 7 songs)to support his habit, sad but true, & I don't blame Jerry at all ,it's a disease, that unfortunately took him away before his time was up. Long live his memory, music,& his legacy

Just got 2 lawn seats for the Jerry show in Md. After booking my hotel and flight as soon as Chicago was announced, doing my mail order only to be shut out and the same with TM I was very happy to see this show pop up. I live in Pa a 2 hr ride and have been to the post pavilion and it is a wonderful venue. I think this is actually the show to see. Just look at the line up. At least the citi private pass benefit made getting tickets possible. Still gone in 10 min. I am happy to be a part of something for this madness surrounding the band.

Citi Tickets were sold out within seconds, I only saw 2 lawn seats. If $200 "inside the shed" is considered reasonable, I guess the shock of the Chicago fiasco is still fresh in everyone's mind! If they start at 7, end by 11 (likely union rules), take a break, setup for and introduce 100 guests, that leaves time for about 4 songs... :)

Shut out again. This is getting old. I realize I have one more chance on Friday but since I've had zero luck on any 50th anniversary gig, I'm guessing my chances at getting any are infinitesimal. Band shuts out 98% of fans on 50th anniversary is good... why? Just asking.

11:00 curfew has nothing to do with any union. The venue is located near several residential communities, and they have decided that they would like to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. Day-long events are common there, but the organizers of this concert have decided not to do it that way. Peace.

Thinking brothers and sisters, that I may not be taking part in any of the 50th anniversary celebrations. Looking at how this one is selling out too, and that I would have to travel nearly twice as far as I would for Chicago...starting to get majorly bummed again. I will try tomorrow to see, but am not holding out a lot of hope. Sorry for the negativity and bad vibes, but just thinking this was not meant to be...I am keeping my hopes up though for a golden ticket to the Chicago as the scalpers start to slit each others throats - as far as I am concerned, that cannot happen enough so that heads can get into see the last set of shows...good luck tomorrow and congrats to those in on the pre-sales. Peace.

Donna should be, MD is a lot closer to her home than Chicago. I imagine she has to be feeling awful not being invited to the final shows (if she wasn't). If she turned it down, then cool, but honestly, knowing that she was doing shows with Bobby and Phil for a while a couple years back, I doubt that she would've said no...poor DJ. Again, seeing the piranha and sharks circling like they are, I am betting Jerry is gonna be so pissed, he probably won't even come...

I have been watching a lot of old video and going through my late 60's / early 70's tapes recently and really miss his playing and how much energy he had then. In the Classic Albums doc on American Beauty, Phil summed it up well, he sounded so youthful, so alive. Also agree with Phil that the greatest thing they ever did was record everything. If there was ever a time machine made, I would go back and tell Bear that he MUST invest in proper 4 and 8 track equipment for the soundboard. His reel-to-reel wasn't enough and Healy had to pay attention and cover for Bear on his - ahem - forced vacation in 70...

This may be the one to attend. We all know the band did not play there best shows when excepted to. I would not put it past them to rip this show up... Not the same yet might be closet comparison 1982 nice fun spring tour up the east coast when a rumor came out that Jerry was playing in between the Rochester and Nassau shows. That rumor turned out to be true. And sure enough we got Jerry alone playing the Capitol Theater solo . OOOOH so nice and mellow to boot.My point is they might play here at Merriweather and perform better too.

AND DON'T COME HOME EITHER!!! YOU ARE WAY STUPIDER THAN I FIRST THOUGHT WHEN I MET YOU!!! I KNEW YOU WERE AN IDIOT BUT, NOW I KNOW YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO LIVE HERE ANYMORE!!!!!" well, I am NOT going to Chicago, NOT going to Merriweather PP. this kind of sucks.I hope Forgotten Space does extra shows here in Dallas-Fort Worth this summer. Very righteous Dead band. Widespread Panic, Moe, Yonder, Phil, Bobby any of them could have sold the Post out on their own. Are the fans really supposed to believe that they will even have the slightest chance to get a ticket? The venue seats 17000 max! I guess the jokes on the fans. The band members are lining the pockets of scalpers. Why not play a venues large enough to accomidate the demand so tickets are not scalped? Most defiantly not the Grateful Dead spirit I remember. Where is the concern and reguard for 90% of your fans who cannot get tickets?

I am impressed that IF the venue DOES only hold about 17,000 that nearly 6%!!! that is right 6% of the tickets are being scalped...why not go 10 or 20%? Seems fair...fuck this is stupid...I have shit to do and it ain't this...gotta get down to the cumberland mine...thats where I mainly spend my time....just to buy fucking tickets off of assholes that have bots to beat the system and fuck the rest of society...
