Mickey, Bill, And Bob Form “Dead & Company” With John Mayer, Announce Halloween Madison Square Garden Concert

The news is out, all over town... Mickey, Bill, and Bob have joined forces with Grammy Winning singer/guitarist John Mayer to form the band Dead & Company. The band will take the stage at the legendary Madison Square Garden on Halloween night, October 31, 2015 and will perform two sets of music drawing largely from the Dead’s historic catalog of songs.

The Fare Thee Well shows were a record-setting success, and ignited enthusiasm for more concerts featuring Grateful Dead members. "There is a place where music, dreams and magic come together,” said Hart. “Grateful Dead music is a portal to that place. It was built to last!”

"Fare Thee Well proved to me that I'm not done exploring new rhythmic territory with Mickey — I’m recommending that everyone puts their helmet on, because we are going to blast our way into some serious drums and space," said Kreutzmann. “And with Mayer riding shotgun with Weir — we’re in good company, so to speak.”

Mayer will join Hart, Kreutzmann and Weir, along with Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. “I deeply love the Dead’s music, and it has inspired me in ways I never imagined. To help carry this music is the opportunity and the honor of a lifetime,” Mayer said.

"We're not done with these songs and they're not done with us,” said Weir. “We're gonna take these old friends on some new adventures.”

Tickets will go on-sale to the general public Friday, August 14th at 10am ET. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Monday, August 10th at 10am local through Thursday, August 13th at 10pm local. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com. Top tier tickets will be priced under $100, and a number of $50 tickets will be made available in honor of the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary.

    Dead and Company Buffalo show
My first show since Jerry...didn't make the Fare thee Well shows. I was really skeptical about John Mayer but I figured Bobby must be seeing or sensing something in him...Took my daughter (who was still inside me when I was dancing to Franklins Tower in 1995) My biggest fear was I was going to cry my eyes out all through the show but once the anticipation built and the lights went down and the crowd roared all I could feel was Gratefully Dead Headed and we danced and laughed through two very old time sets. The set list was a blow back to the 1970's and I loved every minute of it. John took a few songs to open up but I think he was just as nervous as some of us were. Stepping on to that stage with a guitar in your hand, in the spot where the big man stood would be a sobering task for anyone. He handled it with talent and grace and I do believe respect. His Althea was SO SWEET that just for a few moments I was transported back in time and actually forgot Jerry was gone. I did mist up a little with China Doll, one of my Jerry Favorites. I truly miss that old hippie more than I could have ever imagined I would miss anyone. But if Bobby and crew will deem to carry on, I'm going to go right along with them - because that Dark Star into Drums into Dark Star was the best Drums I've ever experienced. I just held my hands up to the air and felt the pulsations of those three drumming and man - did I need that! Awesome show and I do think Jerry would approve.

Saw the first show in Albany. Listened to the MSG show on Sirius. One man's opinion - this is the best that the music has sounded in 20 years. I saw my first show in 1973, and all of the various incarnations since. I have enjoyed most of it (all of the Dead, most of the others), but this band really has it. I'm looking forward to seeing how they gel down the road. For the first time in 20 years, I really want to know what the next song will be.....

They are pulling a Bret Favre on us. Not that there's anything WRONG with that!! I bet Phil shows up :) :) Wish I could go. I heard that they are planning to make the east and west coasts closer together so that will be good but the republicans are against it.

Phil is now officially retired. Gonna sit on his front porch in that big rocking chair and count his money. I say, it's better to burn out, than fade away.

Fare Thee Well indeed. I almost forgot..."Never trust a prankster". However, after seeing John Mayer doing Truckin' with Weir on TV and playing with Phil at Crossroads, I think he'll be a better fit than Trey. Apparently it ain't over 'till it's dead. One night only? Pay per view?

It seems a bit anticlimactic without Phil, although he's been planning an end to touring for a while and I do not want to see him burn out. Also, John Mayer is a step down after Trey, although my wife loves him. Still, I would love to watch this show after a night of trick-or-treating with my kids. Mountain Jam with Oteil Burbridge!

Can someone help me out here? I was not able to attend the 10/31 show so these shows went off my radar for a blip. Now I see that they've added an 11/1 show that I can attend but there are no tickets available. Did they not go on sale yet or are they already sold out?

Happy for folks who scored. Did not expect this to repeat Fare Thee Wells sell out pattern. I got Chicago all three nights so satiated for now. Hoping Atlanta makes the cut or would make the drive to Philly ( 11 hours) if at the Mann. Let's see where this tour will take us.

I was able to get tickets for Nov. 1st but none for Oct. 31st. $50.00 seats are actually $64.10 each after fees. $14.10 per ticket for what? I can understand being charged tax at the NYC rate of 8.875% but a handling fee of about $9.00 per ticket is BS. Less than an hour after they went on sale on Aug 14, there are tickets for sale on eBay already! There must be a better way to sell tickets than the existing system.

So, I went to Chicago and it was amazing. I really really wish the dead would play some high gate VT type shows with That same Chicago line up. Trey was an absolute beast and it just seemed like the magic they were all creating was only getting better....my issue initially with Chicago is now I'm a family man...I wanted to see all 3 shows but time with the family on the 4th of July was more important. I was able to fly out Sunday am to see just one amazing night after listening to the 5 previous shows online. Please please come to the east coast with the 5 show line up from Santa Clara and Chicago..maybe add some more friends..please please please. The music was magical and east coast dead fans miss u!!

I did all 5 shows and yes that line up was the best , still I remember the doubters about Trey . Now we see the love he showed the music and now we love him too. I sure that these shows will kick ass also , I am in for the 31 and if they hit a few more east coast I be there too. Nice to be back on tour with the music . I never missed Furthur and was so glad to see bob and Phil .

I was able to score four tickets for Worcester yesterday! Yes, the taxes and fees are exorbitant as my second tier tickets totalled about $9o each by the end. However, this is one of my favorite venues from days of old and I wouldn't miss it for the world. Thanks boys!

After a crashed computer and missing some important weeks of info about these shows, my Mom had heart surgery and I had to fly back east from Los Angeles and I missed another week of info (Mom pulled through and all appear OK!), only to get back home and see yet another Deadhead unfriendly presale taking place (you need to have an Amex card). So we go from football season ticket holders scalping our tickets to Amex card holders getting them. WTF!!! If all seats are available to the presale, they will not need to have the public onsale (were all seats available, anyone know?). Not being an Amex card holder, I took a look at TM for the Los Angeles Forum New Year's shows, the 31st was already practically sold out on 8/26, and then checked the Bill Graham in San Francisco and saw that both shows could not locate even a single ticket, apparently sold out before the public onsale. Even better, it seems that your local box office will not have tickets available until the day after the public onsale, so much for helping locals get a chance at tickets by standing in line. Really!!! To sum up what I see (after a very stressful month)... It looks like you must purchase tickets online, no going to your local box office (which would eliminate those TM fees and help locals get local venue tickets), you must have an American Express card to make that ticket purchase, and most Deadheads should probably just start checking out the secondary markets, since the 8/28 onsale will probably be like the Fare Thee Well fiascos, we will likely be shutout by secondary market scalpers once again. I don't like to sound negative, but when a local can't go stand in line at the local venue box office (maybe the presale should be about going to the box office and making sure locals get a shot at local venue tickets first, not last like this ticket sale is doing) and you need a specific credit card to have a chance at tickets, someone is letting someone else screw most of us Deadheads over, AGAIN! See you all at Stubhub, where TM is probably releasing most of the tickets anyway. Tom Carr Los Angeles, CA

As of today, after yesterday's pre-sale, there are a lot of tickets left for 12/30 L.A. but 12/31 only has the expensive VIP tickets in sections F-K on the floor or in the sections directly behind the stage. Hopefully the stage will be pretty open like Chicago so that behind the stage will not be an obstructed view. I don't know how many tickets were apportioned for the pre-sale but I have a feeling that at least the GA pit and the front sections were held back for the general sale, maybe even more sections. Therefore, I think during tomorrow's general sale the chances look pretty good for getting 12/30 but 12/31 might be difficult. I'm just surprised that they're spending New Year's in L.A. instead of S.F. I agree about San Francisco. The pre-sale tickets were gone immediately for both shows. I think that will be a tougher ticket than a sports arena because the venue only holds 7000 and Ticketmaster is allowing 4 tickets per buyer. I think the max for L.A. is 4 for reserved and 2 for GA pit. Anyway, good luck!

Tom, I wish you luck scoring tickets! However, don't assume that having an AmEx card is contrary to being a Deadhead. I'm hoping it might keep the young kids away and allow more of us old timers a chance at seeing the band.

Amex Presale Tickets for the Forum went on sale 10am 8/26.I logged onto Ticketmaster website at 10:30 to purchase 3 tickets. Floor seats were from $250 to over $1200 and the only seats available were behind the stage. That's such a slap in the face, I don't need a pre or post party, I just want to enjoy the show. I just don't understand what "top tier" is - unless it meant the top tier of the auditorium. But the email I received, and this website, indicate top tier would be $100 and there would be $50 seats to celebrate 50 years. Yes there were $50 seats, in the top few rows of the stadium. But all the presale seats were behind the stage. I've been attending dead shows since the '70's, but think it might be time to move on, it's an insult to charge such prices. No matter how much I love the scene and the music, no way in the world could I spend that time of money (of course unless I won the lottery). Something is not right with this situation, not sure if the band has gone totally commercial, or if ticketmaster and the other ticket brokers are to blame. But you'd think for presale, there would certainly be decent seats available.

I completely understand that having an Amex card is not contrary to being a Deadhead. I just felt it might not be the most common denominator to provide Deadheads with the best chance of getting presale tickets, so Deadhead unfriendly. While I do have credit cards, I don't have an Amex card, do you? Maybe they could have chosen the Diners Club Card for the presale, but I would really have to wonder how many Deadheads have one, if any at all. Maybe a better presale option would have been to send out a last minute message with a code to everyone that has a login on the dead.net Web site, at least they put in the effort to signup on dead.net. I really just felt that the Amex card angle was not going to reach as many Deadheads as it would scalpers. Standing on line at the box office was good in days gone by, you had to show up to get tickets, but the box office was all but left out of this ticket sale, not having tickets until the day after the public onsale. Anyway, my tour trio did manage to get 3 tickets for both nights in Los Angeles, but it took lots of clicks on the search again button before anything showed up (I would have preferred standing on line with fellow Deadheads). To be honest, after the first 20 minutes of seeing no tickets match your search, we thought there were none to be had. I also tried for the Bill Graham in SF at 10AM, but there was nothing. I do see close to 15% of the SF tickets listed on Stubhub though, guess I'll be waiting for price drops now. I hope everyone scored those miracles today! Tom Carr Los Angeles, CA

Just checked and there are still tickets available for both 12/30 and 12/31 on Ticketmaster. They are also now listing resale tickets as well, but there are still original face value + TM fees available for both shows. I really thought these would have sold out the first day, go figure.

If not he wouldn't be able to get tickets and if he got a crew cut would not be able to get in. Too bad, no Amex card no Jerry, that's just the way it was back in the day after Bill Graham bought Amex and jerry refused to get a card. Jerry had bad credit due to unforeseen events that occurred during a Darkstar one evening. Its a long story, I'll fill you in at the Buffalo show on 11/7, or is it 11/9/15?

Hi All, After having bought tickets for the New Year's shows at the LA Forum, I was happy to be in via the public onsale at TM, but not pleased with the "best available" TM selected seats. So, after having looked back and seeing that you could now select your own seats, I considered buying different tickets, since better seats were available. Long story a bit shorter, I called TM customer service (1-800-653-8000) to complain about the pick your own seat not being available during the initial onsale and seeing if anything could be done about swapping my tickets. Well, I found out that if you have already bought tickets, you can call TM customer service (1-800-653-8000) with your order # and get your ticket(s) on that order # exchanged ONCE for no charge for ticket(s) of equal value or paying the price difference for upgraded tickets. Seems they will not allow a price downgrade. Anyway, I exchanged my tickets and wanted to share this info with everyone. Looking forward to seeing everyone, we're in for all the Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles shows.
