    West of the West is Dave Alvin's tribute to California songwriters. Along with the Hunter-Garcia classic included here, he covered Merle Haggard, John Fogerty, Tom Waits, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, Kate Wolf, Los Lobos' David Hidalgo and Louis Perez, Kevin "Blackie" Farrell, and Jim Ringer.

    "Sing Me Back Home" features Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay and Tom Circosta (Zen Tricksters), vocals; Jeff Mattson (Dark Star Orchestra), guitar; Klyph Black (Zen Tricksters), bass; Rob Koritz (Dark Star Orchestra), drums. The complete set is available on archive.org
