    Come one, come all! Join us as we boogie down the aisles of your local moving picture house for the 6th Annual Meet-Up At The Movies. This year's special cinema event is a bona fide classic - the previously unreleased Grateful Dead concert from Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on July 2, 1989. Catch the Dead in fine form, kicking off their summer tour to a sold-out crowd of more than 60,000 fans, and pulling out surprises at every turn - from the rare show-opener “Playing In The Band” to the only time they ever started a second set with “Friend Of The Devil.” The concert also includes a spectacular performance of “Wang Dang Doodle,” one of the band’s finest sing-along versions of “Tennessee Jed,” two Bob Dylan covers (“Queen Jane Approximately” and “Quinn The Eskimo”) along with a medley of Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy” segued into the Beatles’ “Hey Jude.” Not to mention a sequence that will bring you back to the Dead circa 1973: "Truckin'"> "He's Gone"> "Eyes Of The World."

    And if that's not enough, we've got an exclusive interview with Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux on the making of the upcoming 12-disc July 1978: The Complete Recordings boxed set as well as previously unseen performance footage from Dead & Company.

    OCTAPAD!!!!!!!
    All of the musicians were on fire at this show, but the real star of the show was the OCTAPAD, the Rhythm Devils' eight-armed electronic percussion monster!!!!! I truly love the evolution of technology within the Dead's sound over the years. However, when the second set settled into the Drums/Space, nothing compared to what Mickey and Billy created. Such impressive and outlandish sound effects courtesy of Octapad. Man, the drums sounded huge and loud! Anybody know if Octapad is still manufactured and used by modern percussionists? Since this show was 27 years ago, there's a possibility that new gadgets have replaced the old ones.

    this was the first muatm i've been able to attend. our theater was not very crowded, less than 20 people. i agree that i thought jerry was low in the mix, too. i was curious if the fact that i saw it in a large movie complex if they felt they couldn't crank it. the movie started with david talking. then the show. then dead & co. they didn't even turn the lights down till after playin'! i found it interesting that this years release was the opening show of the summer tour, and last years was the last show of the tour! i was at the alpine show. my guess is the alpine show was better. the sugaree alone was worth the price of admission! after the movie we came home and listened to the 3rd cd of dave's pick 18, the 7/16 part. it was just awesome! i need to listen to more of the 7/17 again, but man o man 7/16 sounded good.

    Excellent show, first set was spectacular, second even better. Looking for commercial release to complete the trifecta along with truckin up to buffalo and Crimson white and indigo. Best 3 consecutive shows since 5/7 5/8 and 5/9 1977.... Goddamit I miss Jerry.
