Week of August 11-17, 2025
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1977, 1984, and 1986.
Our first stop this week is on 4/29/77 at the Palladium in New York City, opening night of a five night run, where we have this unique second set sequence of Samson And Delilah; Sugaree > El Paso; Brown Eyed Women.
Next is the end of the first set and start of the second set from 4/24/84 in New Haven, CT, where we have My Brother Esau; Ramble On Rose ; It's All Over Now > Don't Ease Me In, China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider.
Lastly this week is the entire second set from 4/19/86 at the Berkeley Community Theatre, featuring Crazy Fingers > Playing In The Band > Drums > Space > The Other One > China Doll > Playing In The Band > Sugar Magnolia, Quinn The Eskimo.

Yay! Something from '86
This Crazy Fingers is really good from Jerry, et. al. > if just a little dialed back in volume/intensity.
To my ear, it 'tops' the ETR selection from 11.21.85 at the Kaiser (which has some flubs) ... But, as just mentioned over on the JotW section, that Providence '84 Playing, at least for me, 'tops' both this one AND the '85 Kaiser - ETR one.
Then again ... there's no She Belongs to Me on Providence JotW (!)
