Week of August 18-24, 2025

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1977, and 1984.

Our first stop this week is at Winterland on 4/15/70, where we have this classic 1970 sequence of Dancing In The Street, Turn On Your Lovelight > Not Fade Away > Turn On Your Lovelight.

From the third show of the Spring Tour of 1977, on 4/25/77 in Passaic, NJ, we have this first set sequence of Mama Tried; They Love Each Other; Looks Like Rain; Peggy-O ; Lazy Lightnin' > Supplication ; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet; Brown Eyed Women.

Lastly this week is the end of the show from 4/16/84 in Rochester, the Dead’s penultimate stop at the War Memorial, where we have Space > The Other One > Stella Blue > Around And Around > Johnny B. Goode, Day Job.

Be sure to stop in next week for more tunes from the vault.

Gorgeous improvisational wandering journey for 13 minutes as prelude to The Other One. Not really Space as labelled but goes straight into a great noodling Jam I would say in this chunk. Phil finally hits the opening bomb at 14,30 into it.
This one has the energy.
Cheers
