Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music covering 11 years of Grateful Dead history, from 1973, 1978 and 1984.
Our first selection this week is from one of the more famous shows in the Grateful Dead's performing history, from 6/10/73 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, where the Dead played two shows with the Allman Brothers Band and Wet Willy. These shows have long been considered for release, and it's only a matter of time before we see them mastered properly and released. They're really exceptional, including this terrific quartet of songs: Eyes Of The World> Stella Blue ; Big River ; Here Comes Sunshine.
Next is the first set from 6/4/78 at UCSB Stadium in Santa Barbara, CA, where we have Bertha > Good Lovin' ; Dire Wolf ; Me And My Uncle > Big River ; Brown Eyed Women ; Looks Like Rain ; Tennessee Jed ; Jack Straw. The Dead didn't do much in the way of a summer tour in 1978, with two big shows in June (6/4 and 6/25, the latter in Eugene, OR), a week of shows in early July, and then a couple of Red Rocks shows at the end of August, September 2 at Giants Stadium, and Egypt.
Our final piece of music thus week is from 4/14/84 at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA, where we have the end of the show, featuring Morning Dew > Throwing Stones > One More Saturday Night, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue.
