Week of December 14-20, 2020
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from the 1980s: 1984, 1985, and 1988.
Our first selection this week is the start of the first set from 6/23/84 in Harrisburg, PA, where the Dead opened with a fairly typical of the era, and very well played, sequence of Alabama Getaway> The Promised Land ; Peggy-O ; Little Red Rooster ; Brown Eyed Women; My Brother Esau.
Next is the start of the second set from 6/22/85 at Alpine Valley, featuring Keep On Growing > Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance. This is one of only four Grateful Dead performances of Keep On Growing, with some powerful vocal work by Phil.
Lastly this week is the end of the second set from the opening night of a four show run at Alpine on 6/19/88, featuring Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > I Need A Miracle > Dear Mr. Fantasy > Throwing Stones > Not Fade Away, Knockin’ On Heaven's Door.
