Week of July 11-17, 2022
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1976, 1981, and 1994, three very different eras in Grateful Dead history.
Our first selection this week is the bulk of the second set from 9/27/76 in Rochester, NY, where we have this cool sequence of Might As Well, Samson And Delilah, Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Drums > The Other One>Wharf Rat> Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower.
Next up is the start of the second set from the final night of a very short three show tour that preceded the Europe ’81 tour that began September 30 in Edinburgh, Scotland. From 9/27/81 in Landover, MD, we have China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter); He's Gone> Truckin'.
Next is the entire first set from 10/1/94 in Boston, a very strong first set from the Dead’s final run at Boston Garden, where we have Help On The Way> Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower; Walkin' Blues ; Althea; Me And My Uncle> Big River; Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues; So Many Roads; The Promised Land.
Be sure to stop in next week for more music from the vault.
