Week of July 14-20, 2025
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1969, 1973, and 1977, three distinct and excellent periods in Grateful Dead history.
Our first stop this week is the opening segment from the Dead’s second night at the Big Rock Pow Wow in Florida on 5/24/69, where we have Turn On Your Lovelight, Doin' That Rag > He Was A Friend Of Mine > China Cat Sunflower > The Eleven > Death Don't Have No Mercy.
Next is this great sequence from 5/25/73 at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, where we have Looks Like Rain ; They Love Each Other; Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week is a good portion of the second set from 5/17/77 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where we have Samson and Delilah > Bertha > Good Lovin' > Brown Eyed Women; Estimated Prophet; Terrapin Station > Playing In The Band.
