Week of July 4-10, 2022
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1972, 1973, and 1987.
Our first stop this week is on 9/23/72 in Waterbury, CT, where we have this excellent sequence of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue; Cryptical Envelopment > Drums> The Other One > Wharf Rat ; Beat It On Down The Line; Ramble On Rose, including the last Cryptical Envelopment until 1985.
Next is a short batch of songs from 9/17/73 in Syracuse on the first leg of the Fall Tour of 1973, a tour that got stronger as it progressed, featuring Sugaree ; Mexicali Blues ; Loser ; Looks Like Rain ; Row Jimmy.
Lastly this week is the entire first set from 9/16/87 at Madison Square Garden, including this unique opening duet. I was fortunate to attend this show, and we were all blown away when they kicked into Scarlet as the second song of the night: Touch Of Grey> Scarlet Begonias; Little Red Rooster ; Dire Wolf ; My Brother Esau; High Time; Let It Grow> Don't Ease Me In.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
