Week of July 6-12, 2020
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1972, and 1989.
Our first selection this week is from 2/11/70 at the Fillmore East, the first night of what many consider to be one of the best runs of shows in the Dead’s history. From opening night, we have Not Fade Away, Cumberland Blues, Cold Rain And Snow, High Time, Me And My Uncle.
Next is first set music from 11/22/72 in Autsin, TX, where we have this classic batch of 1972 Dead: Sugaree ; Mexicali Blues; Loser ; Black Throated Wind ; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider; Beat It On Down The Line ; Candyman; El Paso; Bird Song; Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week is the first set from the middle night of a three night run at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, CA, on 2/6/89, their last run of shows at the Kaiser. From this night we have Beer Barrell Polka > Not Fade Away ; Sugaree > Wang Dang Doodle ; Jack-A-Roe ; Queen Jane Approximately ; Brown Eyed Women ; Cassidy ; Tennessee Jed.
