Week of June 1-7, 2026
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1972 and a double dose of 1989.
Our first stop this week is 7/16/72 in Hartford, the first east coast show since the Europe ’72 tour ended, and we have the big second set jam featuring Truckin’> Drums > The Other One> He's Gone> The Other One> Looks Like Rain.
Next is the start of the second set from 7/15/89, the Dead’s first show at Deer Creek, where we have Foolish Heart > Victim Or The Crime> Crazy Fingers > Truckin'> Smokestack Lightnin' > Jam.
Lastly this week is the bulk of the first set from a few nights later, on 7/18/89 at Alpine Valley, where we have New Minglewood Blues Friend Of The Devil; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again; Bird Song; The Promised Land.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Of these 3...
... I liked the 7-18-89 Alpine Valley best, which surprised me.
Well performed 1st set, excellent Bird Song.
Cheers
Looks like rain 7/16/72
I believe this was the first time looks like rain was played without Jerry on a pedal steel guitar. It sounds like a surprise from Bobby !
Then the Allman Bros too !
